A 24-year-old male professional dancer was arrested after stealing a taxi in Tokyo and injuring the 41-year-old male driver, police said Saturday.

According to police, Shodai Furumi allegedly stole the taxi in Shinjuku Ward at around 4 a.m. on Friday, Fuji TV reported. Police said that Furumi approached the parked taxi while the driver was changing the back seat cover. He said to the driver in English, “Sheet, clean, OK,” and then got in. However, the driver said the taxi was not in service, at which point Furumi got out and then sat in the driver's seat. As Furumi drove off, the taxi driver clung to the door and was dragged along for 35 meters.

The driver suffered injuries to his face and arms, police said.

The taxi was found abandoned in Setagaya Ward, approximately seven kilometers from the crime scene. Furumi was apprehended after he was spotted in the vicinity.

During questioning, Furumi denied the charge and was quoted as saying, "I was drinking [alcohol] and don’t recall anything.”

A blind woman in Henrico, Virginia has been worried for years that one day she would get hit by a car on the busy roadway where she has to go into the street to open her mailbox. But she doesn’t have any fears today, thanks to a Good Samaritan who used his own money and skills to fix the problem.

After she contacted a local television station for help, they produced a story to broadcast Lynda Tennette’s predicament. One of their viewers envisioned the perfect solution and purchased a new double-sided mailbox and showed up at her home with his tools.

Wesley Benton, owner of Benton Home Improvement in Richmond, was moved by the story especially because his own great-grandmother was hit by a car while crossing the street to pick up her mail. He installed the easy-access mailbox and got to meet Lynda, who thought the new box was really neat.

“I’m just shocked,” Ms. Tennette said. “Can I give you a hug for doing this for me.”

“It really puts some faith back in the world,” she told WTVR News.

Why the hell do they need to earn millions of dollars for these videos, though? That's what pisses people off. They're doing a blue collar job for like 80k a year and people like PewDiePie are getting millions arguably for the same amount of work.

Youtube wouldn't have to demonetize them if they never paid them that much in the first place.

This is a silly argument.

For starters very few youtubers earn "Millions of dollars" and the tiny few that do mainly do so due to the fact they get many millions of views and have huge sponsorship deals + work their asses off.

For 2. That's not unique to youtube. Most minimum wage workers are working much harder than nearly all millionaires. That's not how capitalism works.

The top 300 richest men in America earn more than the next 300,000,000. You think they work just as hard as those people?

The issue Youtubers have is that they had a neat system where they, Youtube and advertisers all make money. Fans get to watch the stuff. And now Youtube is fucking them for no real reason.

You going "Well I don't like them and I earn less than they used to earn so fuck them and their familes!" is just needlessly sad, pathetic and bitter

It's not just "family friendly" the entire matrix is fucked up.

If you're not making daily content that gets lots of views then you make no money.

So as a result, people are cutting down immensely on sparse or heavily edited content.

In other words: Quantity over quality with no standards. It sucks.

Youtube doesn't want gamers or reviewers or people doing shows or skits. It wants vlogs and Make up Tutorials.

Just seen a lot of kids cracking 9/11 jokes and it sticks out among all the people talking about how things changed and the loved ones they lost and being all somber.

But then you have to realize, to them it's an event in history, not something they experienced. It's like D-day or Pearl Harbor or Bloody Sunday. It happened either before they were born or when they were babies and not aware of it.

Really puts things into perspective you know, of all the things you care about and trials and efforts in your life, in 10 years who is going to care about them? 50 years? 100?

Think of the thing right now that most bothers you, that you are the most passionate about. And then realize the 15 billion people who came before you and that all their things no longer matter,

All the things that seem so important right now. With the exeception of Jesus will any of them still be a thing in the future?

I dunno man maybe it's like spiders. I like them, they get rid of flies and don't hurt anyone but no one else thinks of them that way. Just me.

This little toy ship is now well on its way to sailing the seven seas after it somehow managed to travel all the way from Scotland to Scandinavia.

The custom-designed sailboat was created by the young Ferguson brothers—8-year-old Ollie and 5-year-old Harry—as a means of completing their bucket list dream of enabling a toy ship to travel the ocean.

In order to make sure that their vessel could withstand the salty sea, however, they had to make a few modifications to the little plastic toy. The youngsters gave the boat a counterweight to keep it from tipping over and a hull full of polystyrene so it would stay afloat.

Then, they named the ship Adventure and sent it on its way.

The boat also carried a note that asked anyone who found the vessel to place it back in the sea and let the Fergusons know where it had traveled. While launching the Playmobil ship from their home in Turiff had been one of their bucket list goals, they never expected it to make it as far as it did.

The family chronologically received responses from residents in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway before news outlets started reporting on Adventure’s travels.

The Norwegian conservation vessel that found the ship in northern waters now reportedly plans on carrying Adventure with them until they can launch the boat into the Atlantic.

“I was concerned that the currents along the coast would take it down the north east coast of Scotland, so I was over the moon when it made a beeline for Scandinavia,” Harry and Ollie’s dad told the BBC.

“The boys have enjoyed it and every time we get a message telling us where it has landed we get on the computer and work out where it went, so they are tracking its progress on the map and it gives them an understanding of how big the world is.”

Police have arrested two men for allegedly firing bullets at the doors of two apartments in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture

The suspects, identified as Noriyasu Kobayashi, 54, an unemployed resident of Fukaya, Saitama Prefecture, and Takahiro Arai, 45, a construction worker from Kumagaya City in Saitama Prefecture, were apprehended on suspicion of violating the Firearms and Sword Control Law, and damaging a building, Fuji TV reported.

Kobayashi and Arai reportedly fired bullets at the door of two separate apartments at the housing complex in Gokonishi early in the morning of June 30. The two shootings took place at approximately 5:05 a.m. and 5:10 a.m. In July, two men were previously arrested in connection with the shooting, which police say was gang-related.

In May, a motorcyclist shot at a station wagon driven by a group of gangsters in Matsudo City. One of the passengers in the vehicle was injured. Chiba prefectural police are investigating whether that incident has any connection to the apartment shootings in June.

Police presented a bravery award Thursday to a pet dog for helping capture a burglar at a home in Toyama Prefecture on the Sea of Japan coast in May.

The miniature dachshund, named Lucy, alerted her owner in Namerikawa to the presence of an intruder, leading to his arrest.

The man had entered the home belonging to Lucy's owner, a woman in her 40s, on the night of May 4 before trying to make off with several thousands of yen in cash. After the woman was alerted, she and her neighbors apprehended the man.

The Namerikawa Police Station presented Lucy with a certificate of appreciation and her favorite dog food.

Despite being 17 years old, equivalent to the late 80s in human years, Lucy showed heroism in barking loudly to alert her owner, the local police said.

The burglar was indicted and given a prison term of two years, suspended for four years.

51 years ago today, the first episode of Star Trek, featuring “Space: the final frontier” and the USS Enterprise, began its three-year mission of exploration on TV screens across America. The science-fiction television show created by Gene Roddenberry was set in the 23rd century and starred William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. The NBC show has since spawned multiple TV series, as well as comics, toys and a movie empire.

Fans of the franchise, called Trekkies, often cite the show as an inspiration for technological inventions like the cell phone and computerized tablets. The Original Series which included one of television’s first multiracial casts is also noted for its progressive civil rights stances.

Also on this day:
Michelangelo’s David was unveiled in Florence (1504)
The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway was published (1952)
The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts was inaugurated in Washington, DC, with the premiere of Leonard Bernstein’s Mass (1971)
The first Oprah Winfrey Show aired (1986)
The Republic of Macedonia became independent from Yugoslavia (1991)

And, on this day in 2005, Russians flew humanitarian aid to the United States following Hurricane Katrina, landing three Il-76 aircraft at a disaster aid staging area in Little Rock, Arkansas, marking the first time Russia’s international aid group EMERCOM had flown such a mission to North America. The delivery of more than 60 tons of medical supplies, rations, tents, blankets and 6 tons of drinking water, also set in motion a cooperative relationship between the two countries’ two disaster aid agencies, FEMA and EMERCOM. Crazy to think that the original Pavel Chekov outlived the JJ Abram's one.

Also Interesting to note that Nichelle Nichols wanted to quit the series beause she didn't like Shatner, didn't like her character (or lack of one) and wanted to do other acting work and then was convinced personally by Martin Luther King to stay on as her role was having such an impact on the civil rights movement.

And then she ended up having the first ever interracial kiss in color on TV in America.

You have probably already seen your fair share of whacky gender reveal pranks and breathtaking marriage proposals – but what about cool baptism stories?

3-week-old Brecken Archibald was given one of the greatest baptism ceremonies in Brainerd, Minnesota when he was baptized right in the treasured Stanley Cup.

The Stanley Cup is the ultimate trophy of the National Hockey League – and standing at about 35 inches tall, it is quite a trophy to be beheld. Additionally, whenever a hockey team wins the Stanley Cup, each team member is given one day of the year to spend with the trophy.

Since the Pittsburgh Penguins were the most recent winners of the Stanley Cup in 2016, forward player Josh Archibald utilized his own day with the cup to baptize his newborn son.

The adorable ceremony was recorded by one of the honorary Keepers of the Cup, Walter Neubrand, and posted to the Stanley Cup’s Twitter account.

Here’s to hoping that little Brecken will be blessed by the hockey gods in all of his years to come.
