Under 18 when your over 30 especially is pretty sick in my opinion.

If your in your early 20's and date someone who is in their late teens, the diff in age isn't that big, as long as it's legal where you are.

Nothing at all says you can't find anyone 18+ attractive, and not just physically. Young people have energy, dreams, tons of new experiences that can make them feel new to someone who is more jaded etc.

I wouldn't go looking to date someone under 30 myself, and even my friend (who is 61) drew the line at around 30, but I know many who date girls in their early 20's even when 50+.

Think if your 30+ dating someone under 21 who can't even drink legally is a bit strange, but you never know when your gonna hit it off with someone, and limiting yourself because of age seems silly.

This whole (way more life experiences) crap is silly, there are plenty of 18 year olds who are way more mature then 40 year olds (I was one). By the time I was 19, I'd been in the Airforce for 2 years, graduated HS at 16 (on my birthday), worked more then 10 different jobs (including construction), and fed/taken care of my self since I was 11. I saved half of everything I made and invested it and didn't do drugs, smoke etc.

I had my life more together, and focused then many people 30 years older then me (and by 21 had more savings then probably 80% of Americans (possibly more since so many are actually in debt).

So yeah, I'd date someone someone 19-20 if I really liked them, they liked me etc. I wouldn't have kids with them though (I'm too old), but i'd be down with them having kids already.

Likelyhood of me actually MEETING someone that age is very low as I generally don't have any friends under 30 in real life.

Lol, teaching does not work that way, especially when your first starting off, and you can easily lose a job if they are downsizing (and many schools are), even if you have been working there forever (although most schools go by seniority, if your a bad teacher that can change.

Heck in the recent past in CA whole schools where closed all over, tons of teachers lost their jobs and the competition for teaching jobs was crazy. Good luck getting a job without 2 years of teaching experience (When you still need to be semi-monitored). Then if you do happen to win the lottery and get a job without experience, if the school downsizes etc, guess who is top of the list to be let go?

So yeah, the days of teachers not being able to be fired are long gone, enough positions are being lost, that it gives plenty of opportunity for schools to get rid of any teachers who are not doing their job (even if it's probably social politics more then work ethic that determines who gets let go).

If he sprained a muscle getting up, and the chair didn't even break that time, then yeah, he has no case at all. Your not responsible for a customer pulling a muscle while in your shop because they got up wrong etc (If he slipped and fell etc, that would be different).

Also, there is a diff between overweight and obese, if your 500+, there are MANY things you just plain can't do, or places that will and should be able to, refuse service to you. Forget about bad PR, at that point it's just plain logic.

Pretty sure you can have a sign that states you reserve the right to refuse service for any reason, which basically means your fairly safe as long as you don't tell someone a reason why your refusing service.

That being said, saying your chars are not rated for someone is a good reason to refuse service if I have ever heard one.

But yeah, if I was an attorney representing someone who sat in a chair and got hurt, and it turned out the chair was rated for a much lower weight then the person who sat in it, I don't think I'd have a hard time wining that law suit.

It is the owners responsibility to know what the limitations of his equipment are, not the customer. An argument could be made that after the first time, the customer was aware as well, but if he got injured the first time, it would be totally the owners responsibility.

Could always get a partial verdict (both are at fault so the customer only gets medical awarded etc).

But whatever, again, not my area of law, and it varies too much from state to state anyway.

TopicWhat wage is good wage?
wolfy42
08/30/17 9:23:25 PM

Varies greatly depending on the cost of living where you are.

There are quite a few places you can't get a 1 bedroom for less then $1000 a month, and a few places where you can't get one for less then $1500.

A normal human should have at least $100 to spend on food a week and be comfortable (That includes eating out/coffee etc). Less then that is certainly possible, but I would not call that living comfortably.

Additional expenses (utilities/cable/internet/transportation etc), is going to be another $200 at least for anyone trying to live fairly comfortably as well.

Say $200 additional for random expenses/fun etc just so all that work your doing is actually worth something and you don't feel like a slave.

So go with the 1k a month for rent, 400 for food, 200 for utilities etc and 200 for spending, and you have a bare minimum of $1800 average.

Divide $1800 by 160 (40 hours a week for 4 weeks) and you end up with about $12/hr.

So the bare minimum should be about 12/hr, although honestly many min wage jobs will not give you 40 hours a week anyway. In some areas you can rent for a bit less, so a $10-11 rate would work, in others you would need more like $15 an hour just to live.

Doubt it would ever go in front of a jury, and yes, you are generally responsible for injuries that happen on your property, even if the customer does something stupid to cause it (like sitting on a chair that obviously won't support them).

The fact here is you could have refused service to this customer after the first time he broke a char (and should have). He did not just walk in and sit down on a chair randomly, someone working there led him to a chair and told him to sit in it.

The Blob could have been in denial about the cause of the chairs breaking, or he could have just thought maybe it wouldn't happen again, or he could have been hoping he got injured eventually so he could sue you.

Whatever the motivation, the end result is an injury that happened to him while in the saloon, and the ability for him to then sue the owners.

He might not win, but quite often it's cheaper to just pay off someone that does this, then to go through the court, which could even be what he was going for.

I am not in insurance, but I do know how the law works and how many people try and take advantage of the laws to get money (and often fail...which this person may do as well).

The point is that even if it's crazy, people do win these lawsuits, which is why they keep happening.

I agree that the chars are not at fault at all, sadly though, it's quite likely that it could be determined that the person who directed him to sit in the chairs....was (especially after the first time).

In fact, I think those chairs actually do have a weight limit. Yep I looked it up (google it and you'll see it's 350). This means the people working at a salon need to know that the chairs have a weight limit and prevent people who weight more then 350 from using them.

It's not the customers responsibility to know that. Since that is the case, if you let a customer who weighs more then 350 pounds sit in your chair, you are at fault almost certainly, and he can win his case.

Who says twilight is fiction?

The idea has been around since the 50's that there are infinite universes and because of this, every possible combination exists in a universe, including exact replicas of any book universes (along with every alternative possibility in those books).

Heinlein wrote about it in The Number of the Beast (and a few other books I think), back in the 50-60's or so and I'm pretty sure others had before that.

So yeah, nothing wrong with following them as religions since they may actually be true somewhere. It's quite possible that eventually things will change drastically many times and in 50k years, we will actually have a world with rules/laws/creatures shown in twilight, right here.

And watching the movie supports the producers of the movie etc as well, it's not like OSC needs more money, or giving him more is going to change anything, he's very rich.

Also the book is far better (first one, and then later ones). It's very much like Dune in that the first book is great, then you have a bunch of meh ones, then it gets good again.

If you have multiple rooms in your house, claim one for your own, and state you live there (Even if you just stop by every once and awhile). That will change tennants to lodgers, which gives you all the power pretty much.

Varies from state to state, but in WA for instance, lodgers are not covered under the landlord tenant act, which means basically you have all the power and can have anyone enter whenever you want.

Solves most of the problems, with the minor cost of needed a room that you don't rent out, and possibly renting for a bit less because of that.

I guess you could argue that at this point if we eat living creatures (raise them and kill them just for their meat) that could be considered demonic. Originally though it was just natural, the way most canrivor/omnivores survive.

We have the ability/technology to avoid doing that at this point, and to certainly avoid the suffering we cause in the name of profit/efficiency.

I myself tried to be a vegetarian once, because I saw what they do at Haris Ranch on the way back from LA, but it didn't stick (made it like 2 weeks).

I justify this by saying to myself that me not eating steak would actually not make any difference at all, but the fact remains, every week I am eating meat that comes from animals that suffered horrid conditions before being killed to feed my hunger.

That does sound somewhat demonic to me. I have the means and ability to eat other foods that did not come from suffering, but I like the taste too much.

Not sure if that makes me a demon, but it certainly draws a line in the sand as far as how much I'm willing to do to prevent suffering or causing suffering in other entities.

Might have stuck with being a veggy when younger (though I was SERIOUSLY into food back then, could eat a ton and never gain a pound), but at this point i'm tired, old and just dgaf anymore. If someone is going to change the world, stop suffering etc, it's not goona be me. The younger generations can change things if they want, I'm just gonna ride this life out at this point.

If that makes me a demon, so be it.

I'm at least a neutral demon then, if not a chaotic good one:)

Evil can be used for good purpose.

Also I find it interesting that Ryuk says nobody made it past 2 letters of his name, especially since you could cheat the system a bit.

Have Ryuk mention as a source of death and then have a larger affect kill him (without having to say his name again) later on (using them instead). Might not work but worth a try and would get around the only 2 letter of his name thing (unless he kills you if you even start to mention him anywhere in the pages).

In such a case, you could always target somone else with the first 3 letters Ryu or something and then just add the K before he can do anything about it.

If you want good demons, you generally have to find a setting that DOESN'T follow the actual mythology very well, with a premise like:

1. God, if it exists in the setting, may be of any alignment, but all other supernatural entities are treated the way a typical fantasy writer uses things like elves and dwarves. Which easily results in a setting where you have angels and demons that can be either bad or good.

2. God is evil in the setting, or just doesn't interfere at all and its the angels that are all evil. Often because they want a cold world of order without any emotion in it, where everyone is basically a robot. So naturally, those who oppose this are the good guys.
.

What if god, and the angels, ended up being robots that we invented, but went back in time and created mankind, so they would be created?

Perhaps God/Angels are programs that follow pure logic, and Demons are programs that have AI that simulates emotions, which is why they were cast out.

Could be a fun premise.

Well the movie totally broke that rule because the chick used the death note to make that fbi agent write all the other fbi agents names in the book and kill them. So yeah, according to the movie at least, you could use it to force someone to kill others. Since you could do that to world leaders, you could literally destroy the world if you wanted.

You'll still get all the important parts of LK (since he's in JEssica Jones and most everything to do with him in Defenders was from that...other then his need to protect harlem).

LK was blah and so was IF...neither worth watching for me.

I'm not sure if DD1 or 2 was my favorite, but otherwise that is the order of my favorite shows as well. Watching all 4 of them back to back for the first time would be sweet. If you try and toss LK and IF in there, you might burn out as they are much harder to get through.

God is all powerful, but split into 3 beings, so basically Jesus counters some of his power, allowing the rest of us to have some kind of chance at winning.

The entire battle actually ends up being a fight to change the mind of god basically, but you don't really know that till the end.

Could be fun, especially since you could have famous personalities from hell involved (humans from our past who died), and well known demons/angels etc.

Heck it's not beyond the possibility that Supernatural could still end up going in that direction since JC at least has not been involved (as far as I know, not caught up) yet.

I've always thought traditional Christian beliefs are pretty unfair/cruel etc, would be cool to see a story/show that agrees and tries to rectify that in some way.

Seriously, if you had a father who basically never forgave you for anything, decided you where bad and needed to be punished for eternity as soon as you where born, and was more then happy to see you suffer so you could learn lessons, that would not be a father you would probably be happy to have in your life.

It's godlike power, that could reshape the world far more then was shown in the movie at least. You can kill alot more people then you write down, by controlling the actions of people before they die (and having them kill many others).

No more N Korea for instance or any other oppressive rulers, you could take out the entire regime by making the current leader order all their deaths before he finally dies (doing that for all of them on the same day). That would be just a start though. Given enough time, someone with a real death note could end up preventing most crime in the whole world, and cause humanity to actually share and care for each other for the first time in history.

A real death note could make heaven on earth. I'd use it to do that if I had one.

I just watched it and enjoyed it as well. Ending was a bit frustrating, but it leaves it open for a sequel. Over all well done, but the girl reminded me a bit of a young Jennifer Oconnoly *sp*, just not as cute.

Didn't go into it expecting much, so was pleasantly surprised, killed 2 hours easily for me.

I get the general perceived evilness of demons, just.....they don't have to be that way.

It's played out a bit like that in Lucifer for instance (mostly mis-understood etc), and to some degree Supernatural etc, but yeah, you really don't have any series that portrays demons as being supportive of humanity.

Even using the whole Christianity concept, you could argue that demons and humans are in the same boat, both being considered not worthy of heaven, with humans only being allowed into heaven because of JC (not through there own actions etc). It would make sense in such a case for humanity and Hellspawn to team up and look out for each other.

I'd like to see a book/tv series etc, that kinda explores that concept, and a true revolution of hell and earth against heaven, where sentient beings rise up and demand rights, equality and freedom on a heavenly scale. They demand the right to choose if they exist, and where they exist, and they hopefully find a way to finally win such things by the end.

Portraying God as not being good and all powerful, and everything he does is just would be seriously controversial, but heck, they have already done that at this point a few times. Why not just go all the way?

We need a show/series where Demons are actually the good guys, sent to hell to suffer, so they understand humanities suffering and actually want to fight to prevent them from getting sent to hell as well.

Could even have the real bad guys be the Angels/God, and the Demons and Humanity rise up and fight against the Godly injustice.

Lot of room for interesting characters, and could even have a few Angels who where not totally arsehats.

I mean, Supernatural kinda touched on it, with some demons not being scum etc, but it would be kinda cool to flip the script and make a pro-demon tv series.

Chicks only in my nation, i'm not even allowed in.

Give em the power and tell em to take over the world and just use men to breed with in the future (kept in secure positions, not allowed any power or freedom).

Solve all the world problems at once more then likely.

Dog petting is actually a job. I mean, they call it dog grooming, but we all know what the real job is.
