I usually do drive-through, so I went with the fast food option. Interesting developments there, some restaurants do a hybrid where you get your own drink but they'll bring you your food when it's finished cooking or while you're getting your drink (Penn Station, Boston Market).

Normally I go home. I might stop along the way if I need to buy something for work the next day and I don't want to forget about it, and sometimes I'll pick up some food along the way, but the end goal before I make any other serious time commitments is to go home.

I used to never eat my vegetables (with rare exceptions), and that lasted well into adulthood. It's only been in the last year or two that I've made an effort to eat them, and after so much time avoiding them I have a hard time doing it. It's getting a little easier, especially if I eat them with something that has a stronger flavor.

A lot of my problems were borne of naivete, a lot from stubbornness, and a lot from a failure to plan properly. Of those, I'd say naivete was the worst offender.

That's not to say circumstance hasn't had a hand in things. Some people simply didn't like me and that made me their target. Others... well, they were more than willing to manipulate me to get their way.

But it's mostly me.

So Britain is screwed. All of Britain's key industries, science, tech, finance, etc. depend on access to the single market. Britain is a service driven economy and cannot self-support, which is why we are going after trade deals we will not be able to get without loosening the immigration laws this was partially about. The banks are screwed because the EU will not let them keep their passporting rights, and before you go "lol serves them right", remember that not only do they support the British economy, but the massive tax contribution they pay is vital for supporting the NHS and things like that. And that will be how the government attempts to keep the tech and finance sectors around, by slashing the corporate tax and making things worse for poor. The very people who voted for Brexit thinking it will help them. Additionally things like science (which the UK is a world leader in) are in trouble because they depend on EU funding. Their budgets are going to be a fraction of what they are. Scotland is going to leave and rejoin the EU, which will hurt the rest of the UK in order to save themselves. Also the issue of Northern Ireland which will be a complete mess. And that's not even getting into things like inflation, house prices, and the aforementioned exchange rate.

This will only benefit the rich, the poor will suffer. Which is hilarious because it was the wealthy and the educated who voted against Brexit. Those who depend the most on the EU voted against the EU. Baffling. Well, beyond the fact that they were lied to by that damn bus. Then to top it all off Labour is screwing themselves so hard by supporting this, ensuring that the Tories stay in government for the next 8 years and continue their reprehensible acts.

Just curious, where do you suppose EU banks will invest their money, instead? They can't just sit on it.

On Halloween I snuck up behind a 10 year old overweight kid when I was 13 and snagged his Halloween pillowcase full of candy right out of his hand...then I ran off up the road pouring a trail of his candy on the ground a few pieces at a time. Laughed the whole way until the pillowcase was empty then I threw it in a bush. The trail of random candy was about a 50 yards long. Took the kid a long time to pick it up, and he cried the whole time.

I did it because his 13 year old brother was a dick to me.

I had my Halloween candy stolen once. I don't know who did it, I've never forgiven them, and God help anyone I see trying to do it to anyone else because I will beat the life out of them.

Ugh, Xenogears. I started that game under the impression that I had to beat it. I got as far as the point where all the end-game sidequests came up and I just said, forget it, I don't like this game and I've wasted enough time. I've been much more willing to abandon games ever since.

Final Fantasy Tactics: I was having an OK time of this one, except that I never really took to the systems and when I tried to switch things up I hit one of the games' "superboss" fights (the one with all the monks wearing Gaia Gear, ouch). I stopped playing after that. I picked it up again on the PS3, but I didn't get very far before I traded the PS3 in for my PS4.

Metal Gear Solid was a revelation in what video games could do. I made my friends sit through the helicopter scene near the beginning so they could feel how the Dual Shock went along with the scene. It's much harder to sit through now because Kojima does like to chat, but it did so much that we now take for granted.

Resident Evil 2 was considerably better than the first game, especially the voice acting. I no longer cringed whenever somebody opened their mouths. It also marks the first especially jarring jump scare for me: during the second run, Mr. X bursts through a wall the moment you finish a puzzle. Once you reach the hallway to escape, he bursts through another wall. I dropped my controller in shock when that first one happened.

I'm sure I had a Playstation at this point, and it was entirely because of Final Fantasy VII. The Playstation Underground CDs became a thing, too, and that got me to buy Wild Arms and SotN. I don't remember if they were the reason I bought Parappa, but I got that at launch. I think there was a demo for Bushido Blade, so I bought that. I played the hell out of Secret of Mana. It got to the point where I discovered the secret top-level magic animations (not terribly secret, but unless you leveled the hell out of your magic you'd never see them) as well as the level 8 weapon orbs. They never changed the ending, but I kept hoping.

What a year that was. I finally got an NES (I won Little Nemo for the NES in a drawing and that gave me an excuse to get one), my friend had an SNES, and just wow.

I really dig Actraiser even today. I remember spending a ton of money on eBay trying to get the symphonic CD. I don't know if it would hold up today, but I still listen to the music every now and again.

I completely agree with you on Final Fantasy IV. Yes, the game was grindy, but it was far less so than the first game. It had story, it had music, it had pathos that hadn't been seen in console gaming (at least in the US). Super Mario World is my favorite Mario game, but there's no shame in it being beat by FFIV.

I'm sad that SMB 3 didn't take your top spot. That game was pure magic, and it's still incredibly playable. I like Super Mario World a bit more, but that's saying something given how much I like SMB 3.

Final Fantasy was really good for its time, but it was grind-heavy and I can't imagine wanting to play it today. I remember one painful dungeon that required multiple visits to level up enough to maybe stand a chance against the boss monsters (I want to say it was a swamp dungeon, but I'm not certain).

Crystalis was really good. I played it on the NES and played the GBC remake. I was seriously distressed when it ended because I wanted more.

Super C let you steal the other player's lives in co-op, I think. Jackass friend was doing it to me without saying anything, and I started asking why I didn't have as many lives as I thought I did. (It turns out he was busy losing all of them.) I still liked the game.

I could go on, but I'm just going to agree that 1990 was really good.
