Full thoughts as follows: [MAJOR SPOILERS FOR ENTIRE GAME] However, that doesn't mean the game is 100% absolutely perfect in so far as no game truly is. The first and biggest problem is that, despite the incredibly strong cast of characters, barely have any really fun bonding moments. In fact, the game seems to go out of its way to sabotage anything it sets up regarding this, and it kind of baffles me. The celebration events and Hawaii are the biggest culprits of this. Fireworks festival? Sorry, gets rained out. Beach trip? You only get a montage with no dialogue of this games Operation Babe Hunt. Destinyland? It skips the whole thing and you only see them eating afterward as they get the bad news. Hawaii? They don't show anyone actually doing anything, you just kinda go there, have a kind of nice talk with girl of choice, then leave. It's such a weird thing because it's not even like the game doesn't have some great moments with the characters, because there are (Ann having to pretend to pose nude for Yusuke, Makoto getting scared by Futaba, etc). Akechi's plot I feel also should have had more to it. He was such a strong presence over the rest of the game, and then he feels the need to protect a bunch of shadows from you murdering them and 'dies' off screen (if he's actually dead and doesn't come back in some fashion in the future I'll eat my computer). Other than that though it's really just minor gameplay balance issues I have a problem with (and its still probably better than P4G in that regard even with those), and I think all of this is very easy to fix in the inevitable enhanced remake that will come out in the future (Because lets be real, its Atlus, they do it for every game). Also, Futaba best girl. But to be fair, this is the only Persona where I'd say the majority of girls are EXTREMELY close behind, and not even just one or a couple like P4. The only one I wasn't so hot on was Ichiko but even then she wasn't that bad. Overall, am extremely sad its over. It will be hard to get over not being able to play this game and see this cast anymore, just as it was with P3 and P4. |

You can fine-tooth-comb it 20 times and you're still going to miss things. That's just how translation works. Furthermore, while I agree with the sentiment of 'you have to convey the original intent as if it was written originally in that language' as a principal, that does NOT mean every line has to have perfect grammar. That's completely misconstruing what that adage means. It needs to get the same character development, scene mood, and plot points across as the creator intended. Hell, most of those examples on the site aren't even strictly translation examples, and are stuff you find in purely English works that only people seriously scrutinizing something catches because the average person reading it 'auto corrects' the mistake because they're so familiar with the language and get what its trying to convey through context. That doesn't mean the mistake isn't there and if this were an English test it'd probably not do very well, but it IS being incredibly pedantic about it. Frankly I think whoever made the site is just, well The Mana Sword posted... very up it's own ass. Basically that, yeah. EDIT: It is totally not 'more authentic' or 'more japanese' though, yeah. That's just fanboys fanboying. |

Coffee takes time and I only one-shot dungeon 3 by blowing my entire stockpile. Even if I didn't, I still have a handful of Snuff Souls I could have burned if I wanted to use them. This game mitigates being able to one-shot dungeons by having Mementos as another time-killer and also making boss fights use two days. It's probably something they did intentionally. You get the ability to make infinite money in the game at rank 2 for Sun. Price is a complete non-issue after that. And there are plenty of 'crazy abilities' (not that I'd call EITHER of the problem examples here 'crazy abilities' since one is just more options in a shop and one is 'you get all the money ever') in the game that don't completely break it, like pretty much every one of Hifumi's abilities which are all super useful but don't make the game less interesting. |

That means the game is not well made at all, and I would definitely not say that is the case here. |

And the game gives you tons of ways to deal with instant death attacks. I've never died to an instant death attack in P5 and I'm at the end of the game, and it was exceedingly rare in P3 and 4 as well once I got used to it being a thing. |
