I got it and was there for the horribleness that were the first few days. Other than that though, the content is really good and I'm super into it.

Red Mage may be the best designed job in the game imo



Sadly just after everything started to get fixed my desktop died and now I have to wait for it to get fixed which blows

But I was really enjoying what I did play of it.

First time I ever got Knight for my first Job.

Makes the early game hilariously easy. I just spammed attack and Magisa died before even summoning Forza.

Wall jumps were made easier in later games at least

As sad as stuff like this is, it really helps drive the message of Umineko home and is what makes a lot of these characters really great (especially the adult women, who IMO get the best character development in the series that isn't Sayo). It's definitely very deliberate that Ryuukishi made Natsuhi so easy to sympathize with in Ep1, and then you see her as Jessica sees her in Ep2.

Also I'm sad you didn't explain to her that the song was about flat chests.

It has a really good story but the gameplay is pretty ass.

It's a almost 100% faithful remake to the original gaiden gameplay wise and thus plays like an NES game with all that entails.

Yeah Ryuukishi announced it back in like January or so. The only thing we really know about it is a teaser image which showed a feather and the skyline of Dubai. And Ryuukishi saying it will be a "global story this time", whatever that means. Also he is only doing one per year this time, because it's become harder for him to write at the 2 per year pace.

The theory crafting and energy in the fanbase is why I'm super glad I followed Umineko while it was coming out.

I can't wait for the next WTC (coming out this year!) specifically so I can possibly relive that again. Hopefully Mangagamer can translate it as they come out like how Witch Hunt did with Umineko (well, Witch Hunt might be working with them too, I don't actually know...).

I mean, it didn't technically lie, because Shannon and Kanon are fantasy characters that really are female and male, just like Beatrice really is female herself.

But yeah. Its basically a lie XD


Also that is a really good sign she is thinking of stuff like that already!

It is a strange situation. I think Yasu genuinely likes all the cousins and would be content to 'be with' any of them. It's like they say in ep 6 - Shannon will fight to win George and Kanon will fight to win Jessica. They'll both do their best to win, but whoever win, the other will accept it.

Ep8 actually specifically brings up a theory via a goat that Shannon and Kanin don't love George and Jessica really and are just using them. All 4 characters take great offense to that.

I think it's pretty safe to say the relationships are real all around and it's just very confusing for Sayo.

chiru chiru is weird here because they're spinoffs from Grisaia. but i mean, if you don't have 'em and played the first game, go for it i guess.

It should be noted that Magical Girl ChiruChiru does include some plot spoilers from Grisaia 2 and 3.

It's probably not best to play it before at least playing 2.




But yeah even if you don't like fanservice, this bundle is worth it. It's mostly not stuff I would recommend first to branch out from PW/ZE (that would be stuff like Higurashi/Umineko, F/SN, Devil on the G-String, Clannad, the main Grisaia games, etc) but they're all fairly good and you could definitely do worse. Even the fanservicy stuff is generally pretty high quality in this (If you're looking for something cute, funny, and comfy, Nekopara is pretty up there).

Oh and one of the more serious ones you didn't mention is Sound of Drop, Fall Into Poison, which is pretty good as well.

A lot of these are really, really good.

I think it's more just to do with the 'not wanting to look at herself' thing that is one of Beato's weaknesses (mirrors).

But otherwise no, I'm not familiar with that myth.


EDIT: In fact, if she really did go to the shrine, I wonder if she went there to pray or something, saw herself in the mirror, and broke it? That would actually make some kind of sense.

It's actually relatively important because breaking the mirror is symbolism for Sayo snapping and the gender identity crisis beginning (as by this point, Kinzo should already be dead and Sayo knows the truth).

In fact, thinking about it, Shannon probably rushed into the relationship with George specifically because of denial and that's what the whole magic brooch thing is about.

It's another Dante's Inferno reference. Bernard of Clairvaux was Dante's final guide.

And yeah basically to the rest of your post. Though I'm actually going to correct myself that she changed her image because of Battler, not the portrait, but it was around the same time ("I'll give you the blonde hair he likes" etc).

It's well after, actually.

Ep7 shows she was acting as Beatrice well before the portrait was put up, which was only 2 years before 1986. When she first saw the portrait is when she changed her image of Beatrice/herself from Clair to the Beatrice we know now (but with the suit instead).

Path of Radiance is very solid from start to finish, but if you're an FE veteran you might find it too easy.

Radiant Dawn has some of the best gameplay in the series (probably was THE best before Conquest came out) but does some really weird things. Still very good.

The opening scenes in Firefly are so great.

I wish more shows would do that. Just random slice of life "here's what happens when nothing is happening" stuff. Especially in Sci-fi shows, where I always find it interesting to see what daily life is like.

There are far too few things where you just get to see people hang out in between crazy stuff happening. Most of the time it feels really unnatural to me that you just never see them being actual people.

And it's one of the reasons I really enjoy Firefly because despite how short the show ended up being, it includes stuff like that.

I feel like a lot of the common 'top tier' shows, novels, movies, etc, have that element to some extent or another.

I don't really care that a guy is creepy over a waifu or that the waifu is a powerpuff girl

It's pretty messed up that he put it in the show itself though. That's just bad taste.

this one isn't really much of an issue. the game sold like crazy and is by all markers a success. really, all that's being said here is "expect a sequel or upgraded version when it comes out on PC/re-released for consoles again in a Director's Cut." that's not really something to yell at.

Just because something is popular doesn't mean it can't be criticized.

Sales have nothing to do with quality.

Speedster's have been weak to cold since the cold gun made its debut I'm pretty sure

Also I thought the Flash season finale was very 'meh'. It was okay, but was very unexciting and extremely predictable.

I don't know I would specifically call Sayo male. It's hard to say. Born male, yeah, but clearly lost sex organs and grew up with no testosterone in their system (not that Lion has much either lol), raised thinking they were female.

I'd actually be more inclined to say they're female, but lacking the sexual organs.

Of course this all depends on how one views gender identities and regardless Sayo themself was confused on the matter.

It's a shame Sayo dies at the end. Sex change surgeries are a thing even by the time the story starts, though not widely known. Probably, with the amount of money Sayo had access to, could have gotten something like one even before Anges time period, no matter what was settled on gender wise.

I don't know if the relationship with George would work out in the end if he knew the truth, though I do think he wouldn't outright dump her or anything. George can be kind of a jerk sometimes but he's not that insensitive or shallow. The initial shock would probably cause a knee jerk reaction though... who knows.

It's just kind of sad to think about all around.

10 or 10-2, easily

13 is also pretty up there. That trilogy has a lot of problems but the battle gameplay wasn't really one of them.

5 is my favorite of the classic ones.

4 and 5 are unique.

5 starts about the same timeish as 4's second gen and takes place as a kind of side story to it for like, most of it. But then like 2/3rds into the game something happens that contradicts 4's plot and it spins off into its own thing.

So it's kind of like an alternate universe 'what if'.

The only thing about a tactics remake is they'd probably make it an action game with the reasoning that turn based strategy games are outdated

Nintendo does a lot of weird name changes for Fire Emblem.

Some of them are like 'okay whatever' like that one and then some are just arbitrary and weird like changing a 'Stella' to an 'Astrid' because ???

Off the top of my head, there's an Erika in Durarara, Pretty Cure, Girls und Panzer, Strike Witches, Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji, Kaichou wa Maid Sama, and a gym leader in Pokemon.

Also one of the main characters from FE: Sacred Stones is Erika (well technically was localized as Eirika with an extra random i, but its pronounced the same way...)

Fates was way better than Awakening.

It did some things wrong but no where near as many things as Awakening. Fixing the pair up system alone puts it way ahead.

That said, I do hope they mostly move away from the Awakening template for the next one. I'd like them to keep some things (Avatar's, marriage but not kids- but limit supports and pairings for everyone that isn't the Avatar, MAYBE no weapon durability), but definitely get rid of like, pair up, children characters, and stuff like that.

I wish every game in the series was written like this one

Not necessarily the supports, but the main story, as relatively simple as it is, is already a hell of a lot better than Fates and Awakening's. Everything feels like it has more emotion and less... whatever those two had.

The gameplay is... well its Gaiden. It does feel more enjoyable for some reason I'm not entirely sure of (might actually just be presentation?) but otherwise its exactly the same (aka the weakest in the entire series) so far.
