I've played both Oblivion and Skyrim, but I tend to get tired of them after 20 hours or so and move onto something else, then come back to them later. Might be the same with BotW. Or maybe I'll just focus on beating it and doing whatever I find in the meantime...

BotW's open world is completely amazing if you like endless exploring, searching for collectables, etc...

Even if you don't like that, you can pick a thing in the distance, go to it, and along the way just enjoy the travel.

It doesn't have the same dungeon experience as previous Zeldas, and has quite a bit of inventory management in terms of weapons and stuff.

I love the game, but not everyone will.

I like endless exploring but not searching for collectibles too long. That was one of the things that annoyed me about Skyward. This game seems a lot more scenic, however, and I might do it for the exploring. Would love for better dungeons, though - that's why I play Zelda.

You've known me longer than anyone here so you might be able to tell me if I'd like it or not. I think I would, at least for a while.

I went PC and Nintendo in my life and I've been perfectly happy with that. Never got a PS3 but have played some games.

I go with Nintendo portable + PlayStation console + PC nowadays. I play a lot of JRPGs so I need a Sony console. I had a Nintendo console through the GameCube. My Wii collected too much dust for me to buy a Wii U and I'm still not sold on the Switch. Need to see what all comes out for it. It's a home console for me. No reason to lug it around the way I do my 3DS because I want StreetPass functionality, plus I don't want to charge it nightly if I'll only be playing 20-30 minutes on the bus. I charge my 3DS twice a week and my phone nightly. That's a lot of charging as it is.

A big overworld with nothing in it can be kind of problematic. Seems to be happening a lot with Nintendo these days. Pokemon S&M, for example, just didn't feel as lively as the past few games. Part of it might be the more forgettable music. That, however, is not an open world game at all, and open world games are fine being bare in spots. It's to be expected.

Ah, so you played Arkham Asylum on Xbox 360, then. Right, silly me, didn't think about that. Don't know what to tell you other than maybe try to find a PS3 for dirt cheap somewhere? Or did you already have one and sell it and I'm way off base?

And I love most console Zeldas. "Most" excepts Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild. I don't have a Switch or Wii U and don't know if getting either is in the cards for me... how worth it is it?

Wind Waker has amazing animation and is absolutely fantastic until the Triforce Shard hunt. That's the only section of the game I dislike.

I'd say Twilight Princess is my favorite Zelda at this point. Yes, hunting the Tears of Light can be a bit annoying, but they needed to raise the stakes and that was a good way to do it. At least it's not as long as what I mentioned in Wind Waker. A lot of action sequences and fun dungeons make TP a game I enjoy playing through even 10+ years later.

Arkham Asylum is on my backlog and it's already pretty high on the list to play. Should happen this summer. Persona 5 comes first.

When you first went there and it took an hour of mostly cutscenes.

Skyward was just a drag for me. A lot of walking, dowsing crap, and excess padding that ultimately felt unnecessary. I forced myself to beat it and got rid of it not long after - and I almost never do that. There were a few great dungeons and bosses but that aside, I don't really have much positive to say. To each his own, I guess.

What would you say is the best Zelda? Any other favorite games of yours?

When it comes to novels, I greatly prefer a hard copy to a digital one. With comics, I don't have that same experience and usually read newspaper comic strips or whatever full comics board 8 posts on a screen. Completely different things, I know, but reading on a screen may translate better with stories told through imagery than stories told through words because that's more what I'm used to with similar media.

That's the Starman you recommend, correct? That's $2 an issue for 82 issues, which is... a lot. The Omnibuses are $20-40 apiece, though, so it's expensive either way...

I might want something cheaper. Which of what you'd recommend is most affordable? And would a Kindle Fire be the best bet?

If I do Marvel, maybe I'll look into the 80s stuff...

That's all very interesting. I consider myself more casual, though I want to be immersed.

See, I don't like the idea that a hero is supposed to be too perfect. A demigod does not make for a compelling hero and I feel Superman is very shallow because of that. Now, stories around him might be complex in the ways you state, but I need to find the main character at least somewhat compelling if I'm going to have to spend that much time with them.

Marvel knows what works and sticks with it, but I have heard about them trying to appeal toward certain demographics and, sadly, SJWs. It might be that they're devolving to be more mainstream, while DC is evolving to become more niche. Entirely possible. I'll give one of your recommendations a try, possibly Starman. Again, thank you.

By vulgar, I mean sexually explicit or filled with a lot of gruesome images. A little bit of blood is fine.

Superman is a boring hero that is too perfect. A lot of the Justice League just seem... generic from the portrayals I am familiar with. Just stories of triumphant victories and not a struggle. Many of these were old cartoons, so maybe times have changed.
