I'll watch more deadpool movies. I'll watch more batman movies if and when they go back to the campy adam west style. probably not watching any major superhero movies aside from that though

I don't think this is true, though I suppose it depends how you define democracy. fascism is the endpoint of capitalism, and I don't think actual democracy can exist within a capitalist framework.

I have some thoughts about this that I don't really have time to elaborate on right now. but there are two ways of thinking about it.

remember: your experiences are not extrapolatable. being abused by someone with BPD does not mean that that abuse is attributable to BPD. fifty people, a hundred people, even a thousand people having similar experiences to you, still does not mean that those experiences are attributable to BPD.

essentially, yes. that is literally the purpose of data. if you assume that your experiences involving people with BPD are universal because you've encountered 50 other people who have had similar experiences, you are literally reinforcing the stigma surrounding it

That said, based on my experiences, the experiences of others, the experiences of people in a support group I went to, and the experiences of others online... abusive, toxic, angry, manipulative behavior seems to be consistent with people who have BPD.

Again, at that support group, literally every single person raised their hands when the person who led it asked us if we were ever abused. Everyone shared their stories over the course of two meetings and everyone had almost identical stories of how they were manipulated and abused. When I was looking for support and advice online, every story I read felt like the same experiences I had.

Positivity is all well and good but sometimes the story needs to be shared.

most people don't have the proper context to fit your anecdotes into. what you are doing is misleading and stigmatizing.

Are you telling me they did Karate Kid before Karate Kid?

I imagine that Karate Kid draws more specifically on tropes from japanese martial arts movies (which I am relatively unfamiliar with and should really get around to remedying), but... sort of? there are several similar plot elements, but kung fu movies (which I am quite familiar with) tend to follow a few basic plotlines

they're a contributing factor in a relationship. not a major one, but they are a factor

How is it different from 36th chamber of shaolin?

if I remember correctly, that movie ends with Gordon Liu's character creating the 36th chamber, right? like, the chambers were sort of ranks, with 35 being the lowest; and the 36th chamber involves recruitment from outside the temple?

Return to the 36th Chamber also stars Gordon Liu, but he plays an imposter monk. the older monks recognize that he's an imposter and assign him chores and such, and he finds ways to use those chores to actually train in kung fu. this training takes up most of the movie

a bad documentary is disappointing to me in a way that basically no other movies are.

some things that I hate:
-the documentaries where a substantial amount of the footage is just people talking about how important/wonderful the subject is, without actually saying anything meaningful about it (CNN's tv documentaries stand out as being particularly guilty of this)

-nature documentaries with narration that humanizes their subject too much. often the narration suggests that, because the subject displays some behavior that appears to be similar to something that humans do, their motivation for that behavior must also be similar to humans.

(as a side note, I find two things extremely off-putting about nature documentaries:
-knowing that the sounds you're hearing are completely unrelated to the pictures being shown on the screen
-knowing that the presence of a camera has an effect on the way the animals act)

lately I've really been appreciating good choreography. fight scenes, dance scenes, stunts. I like seeing physical stuff

The training montage. I don't even care what others say, the movie has to have some form of training montage instead of having the protagonist just be a super-awesome-at-everything marty sue right out of the gate. I'm eternally grateful to Rocky for creating it.

I'd suggest you really make sure to present your question respectfully because it's so common for bigots to troll about trans people online using the "just asking questions" tactic.
