It is also not a niche group of fans, not anymore. The fanbase has grown leaps and bounds in size since say 2012. A niche fanbase would be something like Trails or Ys.

There is no way Elden Ring is losing to Dark Souls II and III. At worst, it will be 2020 Bloodborne level and at best it is outright stronger than even Dark Souls. I believe it will also keep gaining more and more strength because of FromSoftware's reputation and the staying power of these type of games. I honestly think it will end up being on the level of the strongest games from the last two decades excluding only the juggernaut that is BotW within a few years.

Jodi Gear Solid is really the only memorable thing about the game because of how ridiculous it was. Good performance from Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe but the story was just not very good.

This is where the series peaked in both storyline and gameplay. Shenmue II also has a lot less filler than the first game and the third game which was basically Yu Suzuki's fuck you to the fans for being dedicated and loyal for nearly two decades.

Shenmue 1 feels like a slow paced pilot episode to a drama series (albeit a very good one) and Shenmue II feels like where all the action and intrigue picks up to getting your imagination running wild for the next part of the story.

The game just has so many memorable moments from Ryo arriving in Hong Kong to training under Xiuying. Fighting in the underground pits to Lan Di escaping in a chopper. Mysterious dreams about Shenhua to finally meeting her to the cliffhanger ending.

Although Shenmue III retroactively hurts the first two games because of what it ended up producing, Shenmue II remains easily the highlight of the series and the reason why fans had been yearning for the conclusion of Ryo tale of vengeance for almost twenty years. A tale of vengeance that fans will likely never see the conclusion to, in video game form.

Some interesting character stories here and there but it ends up getting old real fast because you know what their fate is gonna end up being. The game is mostly a giant filler in between and even the beginning and end wasn't anything special.

Resident Evil Village

Wow. What a surprise. I expected It Takes Two to stomp Psychonauts 2 after seeing it eat P5S alive in the previous round.

This is also why Golden Deer/Claude ranks the lowest of all the routes in 3H. It is the most Fire Emblem story of the four.

Play Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn

Path of Radiance is excellent because it doesn't shackle itself with the usual demon lord/dragon god entity comes to destroy the world and all the lords of the continent band together to fight against it plotline that Fire Emblem so dearly loves.

PoR is simply a tale of war against a Mad King terrorizing a continent. Simple yet much more intriguing than the usual save the world from ancient creature nonsense.

Now Radiant Dawn is the one that all those Fire Emblem cliches were unfortunately reserved for. The first two and much of the third act of Radiant Dawn was so much better than the final act because it focused on civil war, politics and rebellion. Once the story corrected its course in the finale towards the usual save the world from insert otherworldly entity it became run-of-the-mill boring.

Definitely the weakest storyline in the franchise. The lore, setting and characters are still intriguing but just doesn't measure up to its predecessors (DS1 and DeS) and its successors.

As much as I love the game I don't think it will be anywhere close to even Persona 3 during its 2015 strength so most definitely fodder.

In respect to GotY polls though, I feel it would have finished behind Tales of Arise and ahead of Rift Apart.

It went down to a 94 eventually.

Realistically I expect Elden Ring to drop to about a 95 as well when the 6 and 4/10 clickbait reviews eventually arrive.

If you're counting 95 and above and not above 95, then there's The Last of Us and Persona 5 Royal. Not that many at all, even if you include Rockstar and Nintendo.

exploration and traversal are as good as Breath of the Wild.

And when you combine that with the gameplay and combat of Dark Souls then you get something like the greatest game ever.

Now the agonizing wait for shipped goods. God I wish my country wasn't so third world.

Beyond ecstatic because of my immense love for FromSoftware since Demon's Souls. I don't think an average score of video game reviews have ever brought me this much joy.

This makes me so happy. FromSoftware is just the GOAT.

Well you'll be happy to know that Isaac is no longer 'mute' in that game. It doesn't make the story better though. It is however an awesome action survival horror game.

Dead Space 3 sucks though. It feels like a generic 3rd person shooter with bullet spongey enemies and has barely any semblance of survival horror.

The story hurts the game more than it compliments it. Mario stories don't need to be anything more than "save the princess" with all other plot elements being unnecessary like The Bowser Jr./Peach plotline was just dumb even if it was just a joke.

Ordered with Elden Ring, can only get to it after that game. Really excited to play it but Elden Ring is Elden Ring so that takes priority.
