I never cared much for Tommy tbh

The pixel remaster raised the drop rate of the rare items so you are more likely to get them in that version
It also lowered the amount of exp you need to level up so while the difficulty hasn't really been changed it feels much easier because you will always be a higher level than you would have been on the snes

I hate the item drop rate in ff4
Rydia has 4 summons she can only get from enemy item drops and all of them kind if suck except mindflayer which is on par with the ones she gets by default

Yet despite how overall useless they are they only have like a 1 in 255 chance of dropping.

Then in the final dungeon Cecil kain and edge get their end game weapons by beating powerful unique enemies and then claiming them off of pedestals
Where as Rosa and rydias best weapons are again rare enemy drops you will probably never get

That's why you save rydias magic for boss fights and let the physical fighters deal with random encounters
And meteor honestly takes so long to cast its not worth using.

And if you wanna he cheap the snes has an overflow glitch that can give your mages infinite mp with the downside being you can cast Rosa's healing spells outside of battle once you do the glitch

Rydia does more damage than edge Cecil and kain can do combined so the world is really saved by rosa and rydia the 2 most useful party members

And to think they almost got left behind do to their vaginas towards the end of the game
Has they listened and went back to the kitchen the bas guys would have won

there is a deleted scene that shows jack trying to climb onto the board with rose and it starting to capsize so he keeps another man off who tries to get on with rose threatening to drown him if he tries again

everyone else was over 18

the only one still underage after the 2 year time skip is chopper
luffy is 19 now

Sailor mercury was the second best sailor
Only sailor saturn was better but she only appeared in like 23 episodes out of 200
Which is more than sailor Pluto who was only in 20 episodes despite being introduced a whole season before sailor saturn

whenever a character levels up i take them out of my party and put someone else in
but i almost always control either balthier and penelo because those are my 2 favorites
balthier because he is just a terrific character
and penelo just cause i like her design overall

then for the final boss i have penelo in my party but control balthier

ff13 was able to give all its characters lots of focus and development
but its world wasnt immersive at all which hurt it

a year of switch online is like 25 bucks
a year of switch online with n64 games is like 65 bucks
thats a huge price difference for not much extra content

penelo does have her whole friendship with larsa thing going for her which helps connect him to the party

It's still a really good game

gameplay wise its amazing
its plot has issues
which is a shame because its plot sounds amazing on paper. you summarize the plot to someone and it sounds like it would be one of the most amazing stories final fantasy has ever told
but they didnt execute it properly so most of the plot just falls flat and the characters dont carry it either since half the main cast is irrelevant and balthier is honestly the only real standout

i mentioned that earlier but this is her only moment of relevance to the story and just like vaan and penelos big moments it can be easily done without her
all it takes it a single change to make the story work without her
have a friendl viera help you through the woods. there an NPC now is as plot important as fran but less plot important than many other NPCs

taking vaan fran and penelo out of the story would require changes to make things still work
but very few changes where as if you take balthier ashe or basch out so much would need to change to exclude them the whole plot would need to be changed

I hate Frans design
She wears black metal armor that leaves her stomach exposed which negates the need of metallic armor

Her armor is designed to be useless and a metal thong would be incredibly uncomfortable

They are still cool

Hell Yuffie and the Vampire guy were optional

7 and 9 have much larger main casts so it's more understandable that some characters would be mostly ignored by the plot

And 10 really only shafts kimarhi
He is the vaan/penelo/Fran of his game only he isn't very good in battle either as he will always just be an inferior version of someone else.

Lulu may seem like she doesn't get a lot of focus but she does it's just all her big moments are optional and can be missed

she gets you through the viera woods and thats it
thats about as much of a role as vaan and penelo have
vaan having the sun stone leads to baltheir getting involved in the plot
and penelo getting kidnapped leads to the party meeting larsa and the larger plot starting

that is about the only relevance those 3 have and each could be replaced with a different reason to have the characters go to where they need to be
so the 3 characters only need 1 thing changed in the story to for it to work if they werent in the game at all which is to little relevance

i actually love penelos overall design though so that made her stand out to me
but yeah one of ff12s big problems was that it has a small cast of 6 and 3 of them could be removed from the story and almost nothing would have to change to make the story still work
one or 2 tweaks here or there and thats it
vaan fran and penelo lift right out

my take on that is to judge a character by how they are drawn rather than their canon age
for example i dont care if someone finds jotaro kujo from jojo's bizarre adventure hot.
he is supposed to be 16/17 but he is drawn to look 30 so anyone who finds him attractive is still attracted to the image of an adult

where as it doesnt matter if a loli is really a 12000 year old dragon
its still a drawing of the image of an 8 year old so anyone who finds it attractive is still attracted to the image of a child and thats creepy

as for penelo. her and vaan are designed to look like teenagers. when next to the other party members they just seem younger
so yes the penelo fanart is creepy no matter how bad the guy tries to justify it

Sonya was a last minute addition to the original game when they decided they needed a female character

She was based of Cynthia rothrock the 5 time undefeated world champion martial artist in forms and weapons and star of a ton of 80s and early 90s martial arts movies

Anyway there is an infinite combo sonya can do in mortal kombat 1 and once the first hit lands the enemy can't get out of it

Not sure how to do it though and it was probably missed just due to her late addition

All arcade games cheated or had high difficulty
It was how they made money. If you wanted to beat an arcade game you needed to be willing to spend a lot of money
An arcade game that could be beaten with a single quarter wasn't going to be very profitable

Many nes and snes Era games also made their games unfair and difficult to get money off of rentals
They were designed so kids who rented them would have to rent them multiple times to finish or buy the game either way the companies made more money that way

That's why games were harder when we were kids
