I'm not trying to make this about me, but its happened to me before, and it completely broke my heart. For one, I knew this girl really well, and we were close. And because of that i made the excuse for her that she really had something urgent in her life that she had to postpone our meetings. But it kept happening.

what i'm really trying to say is that it really sucks and i hope it doesn't happen to you again, from her or anyone else.

It's very telling that the dudes here think 'more dates = better dating scene'. I have gone on relatively few dates and would consider them awesome dates in a small city with an active dating scene. My female friends get more matches than I do on Tinder. Does that mean they have an 'easier time' in the dating scene? No. They have to sift through a bunch of extremely thirsty little weirdos and idiots who will profess their love and then disappear off the map tomorrow.

Why do you think that having a bigger list of pickings equates to a less terrible time? That isn't really an indicator of whether or not the dating scene itself is 'terrible' or not, and seems to point on the quantity of dates you're receiving as the main determiner of the 'quality' of the dating scene or not. I would suggest that that being your primary indicator will give you a flawed perception of whether or not the dating scene is 'good'. A small town will have a limited dating pool. Does that mean it's 'terrible'? Maybe the majority of people are having good dates. Being frustrated about the quantity of dates you get isn't representative of the quality of the dates generally in the dating scene.

You seem to have an inflated sense of the 'roughness' you experience. Being stood up isn't 'rough', it's a basic life occurrence that lets you learn about a person. Something actually being 'rough' would be a guy berating a woman on whether or not she wants to have kids on the first date, something which many women I know have been through.

people do this - not just 'girls'. try not to project it entirely on women. all people are guilty of this and could do better. it's life and it's best to try and let go of it and find people that respect your time/at least let you know if they're getting cold feet or are busy pre-emptively.

This interpretation is quite broad. I agree with some parts of the internet being integral to our lives, and some parts not being. Social media is...not integral, no matter how much people insist it is. People act as if social media is 'the public square' when it simply isn't - it's the equivalent of a message board. It's owned privately. It's a place to piss away time.

As I said earlier - sure, people should have fundamental rights to parts of the internet, and certain functions of it. Those might even benefit from public ownership, instead of the corporate model of Facebook, etc. That being said, there still will have to be limits and potential bans for some people in the interest of public safety, if the messaging service or job-connection site is publicly owned.

Messaging, maps, public services, medical services, encyclopedia access, job-searching - these should absolutely be considered rights. Someone might point out that those are accessible via the library, but I definitely think broader availability is something to strive for.

Crude analogy, but imagine someone takes a dump in the only grocery store every day for a bit and gets kicked out. Then complains that he can't access basic services because he can't get food from the grocery store. Like, sorry, but that becomes a you problem.

I'm a big SOAD fan and love those two. Don't forget though, they released two songs a couple of years (or a bit less) back. They were...mediocre at best. I can see how they were kind-of adapted Scars songs - which, even though I like Scars on Broadway, is a different style from System.

I've never been hooked by Tool, but I've warmed up to it in the last couple of years. It's cool, I like the heavier early stuff.

I'm sure there are tons of bad reunion albums but I can't really think of any off the top of my head. I liked Faith No More's reunion album. Mr. Bungle's reunion album is badass as hell. Anytime where King Crimson seemed to be 'over' they came back with something innovative. I also really like both of Limp Bizkit's comeback albums lol.

Is it...really 'fatally flawed' to suggest that more detailed background checks and training would be beneficial? As other countries do? Pretty sure it's more of a 'fatal flaw' to dump a gun into a schizo's hands at Walmart.

How is this itself not an oversimplification? "The USA is different, durrr!!!". Sure, it's big. Sure, most of the guns are in the hands of a relative 'few', although it's still overall high (44% have a gun in the household).

Other countries won't sell guns to people with criminal records. Obviously this will not stop all of these people from seeking out guns and buying them (legally, illegally), but it will obviously and legitimately limit the fact that it's almost as easy to buy a gun as it is to buy a slushee in many US states. Whereas here in Canada, you're free to get a gun...but you have to prove that you're capable of handling it first.
