Yeah, they've been trying to dismantle the public school system for years. My most cynical side thinks that's part of the reason why the GOP doesn't want to do anything about gun control. Because more school shootings would be "good" for the Republican agenda. Make children and parents afraid. Drive the teachers away. Finally, argue that the government can't "force" children to go to school, and therefore public education itself is "unconstitutional." Then redirect all the funding to private schools, which will promote religious indoctrination.

As an educator myself, it's incredibly validating to hear this on Cody's Showdy. I've been saying this for years now, the GOP wants public education to die and they want to replace it with a fascist adjacent indoctrination machine where only those who come from wealth (and are the right skin color) get access to high quality education.

Unfortunately it's the case that there are some jobs that are always required to be staffed. Firefighters, hospitals, utility workers, etc.

"Socially liberal" in the libertarian sense (especially for the Rand loons) means "do whatever you want, so long as it doesn't affect me or my stuff."

And the problem here is that this mindset is sort sighted and selfish. Negative externalities in industry exist everywhere, from resource gathering to manufacturing/ processing to servicing. Without (proper) government regulation, people doing whatever they want will lead to other people suffering either directly or indirectly.

Libertarians with this "fuck you, got mine" mindset don't care about the people who have no control over their environment being destroyed, their air and water being polluted, or their labor being exploited.

Well, racial disparities and systemic racism can be traced back to the mid-late 20th century when postwar reconstruction failed under the Johnson Administration and hate groups, Jim Crow laws, etc. were allowed to flourish. So libertarians, whom can claim to be "socially liberal and economically conservative" often oppose these policies as well, yet propose no actual solution to generations of systemic oppression and depravity of generational wealth (mainly) towards black Americans.

Joe Rogan is the kind of person who claims he listens to evidence, but bases all of his decisions on personal anecdotes and beliefs.

Libertarians like to think they're socially left leaning, but when you explain that many left leaning policies require strong social programs and a restructuring of the economy to sustain them then they often reveal that they are much more right leaning.
