Better's a stretch, but I still really enjoyed it, and I possibly liked Advance's cast better.

Advance 2's story was just abysmal, though. It failed at even the basic fundamentals of plot progression.

For lack of a better description, it always feels like I get a kink in my hose when I pee while sitting, and it's a lot harder to get it all out versus standing.

Definitely a new story centuries into the future / past. Any prequel / sequel to the original plot would just be living in its shadow, and tbh I was never so gripped by the story / characters that I craved seeing more of them.

I know the Advance games let a lot of people down, but I really liked a lot of the framework / worldbuilding they brought to the table, particularly the races.

I don't know what I just watched, but it was like a combination of the Community episode with the Dean in virtual reality and Balan Wonderworld.

Think I'm just gonna write the whole experience off as a fever dream and go about my day.

The odds are overwhelmingly good that if you got to meet your personal all-time favorite band and said 'the Beatles suck / are overrated' in their presence, they'd laugh in your face.

I did Moderna for the primary two shots and the booster. 1st shot, no side effects except sore arm. 2nd shot, very tired and achy for most of the day 24 hours later. Booster knocked me on my ass for a day with fever, chills, aches, headache.

Getting my updated booster tonight (switching to Pfizer). Not looking forward to side effects, but as long as they aren't any worse than the last time, I won't complain.

I think Ice / Rock has it worst defensively - 8 weaknesses (two of them double-weakness), with only one weakness reduced to neutral due to the pairing (Ice's Fire weakness).

Seems like the only thing it could be reliably defensive against is a Normal / Flying type, many of which now learn Fighting moves for this exact situation.

I realize the statement 'please look forward to the game' is almost certainly a google translate-ism, but it's funny nonetheless.

Donatello was among the earliest Renaissance sculptors, predating Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael by almost 75 years. He was famous for being one of the first sculptors since Roman antiquity to do proper anatomy / proportions.

Probably one of the more interesting elements of his work was the homoerotic undertones of his masterpiece, the statue of David standing over a beheaded Goliath.

I have to assume that someone in that pitch meeting suggested 'Artemisia,' at which point a suit probably shot them down by saying 'psh, kids wouldn't know who Artemisia Gentileschi was anyway' (blissfully unaware that the vast majority of kids would never have heard the names Donatello, Raphael, and arguably even Michelangelo if not for TMNT).

Funnily enough, I too watched it once as a kid, and that's the only part of the movie I remember as well. I guess I also remember Timothy Dalton crashing into the Hollywood sign at the end.

Putin used to come across as an intelligent man whose actions actually made sense. The massive invasion of Ukraine was REALLY strange. It seems like people have been lying to Putin a lot about his military capabilities, victories, and maybe even about what is happening in Ukraine in general? Like, why would Putin think there are Nazi's in the region?

Reports seem to indicate that he's spent the better part of two decades slowly and systematically eliminating disagreeable-yet-competent military / government figures and replacing them with corrupt, pocket-lining yes-men. If so, the Ukraine invasion is the sudden yet inevitable comeuppance of his kleptocracy: the tanks don't work because no one in power invested the time / money to maintain them, the army's green because no one in power invested the time / money to train them, etc.

Poor Shuh de Rossi.

If you've never seen it, there's an episode of Scrubs called 'My No Good Reason' (S6 ep14) that touches on this topic pretty well imo; you might even find it cathartic, since the backdrop sub-plot is that Dr. Cox's wife is recovering from pre-natal surgery (in a previous ep Dr. Cox even questions what kind of chance at life his soon-to-be daughter will have if she's needing surgery before she's even born), which plays into the moral of the episode.

The moral of that particular episode is that, unless they're completely air-headed and self-absorbed, even the most devout Christians struggle deeply with the whole 'everything happens for a reason' viewpoint, and they're trying to convince themselves of it as much as they're trying to convince you; if you're willing to read between the lines and arguably smug self-assurance, they're just trying to tell you to keep your heart open for silver linings in shitty, senseless situations.

This presupposes that Putin actually cares enough about his troops - even from a purely tactical viewpoint - to get them out of harm's way in advance.

Are the Tour MK courses really as bad as I've heard?

They're a mixed bag; some are mediocre, a couple are pretty great. So far the only one that hasn't grown on me is New York Minute. Sky-High Sundae finally added some anti-grav to the Booster Pass, and it looks like this Merry Mountain will too. Graphically none of the BP courses are on-par with the base game, but they still look pretty good in their own right.

I think that's the first picture I've seen of Harrison Ford looking genuinely happy in like 3 decades.

Damn, RIP to an icon who made one of my all-time top five films. I was surprised that he, Jean-Paul Belmondo, and Anna Karina were all still kickin' right up until a few years ago when Anna passed (Jean-Paul passed last year). I'd just incorrectly assumed that chain-smoking avant-garde icons wouldn't live to a ripe old age.

I knew about all of these as a kid only because I had the player's guide. And even with that benefit it took me a long time to really figure out how to work the coin chains, to the point where I too would solve the puzzle in the OP by crouch-flying.

Honestly couldn't say. I've played (and enjoyed) roughly an equal amount of games from both genres; Super Metroid and Symphony of the Night are both in my all-time top 5 games; and my other favorite games from both franchises (Fusion and Prime; Aria of Sorrow and Super 4) are pretty comparable in terms of personal enjoyment.

I took the time to play the original in college on an [illicit facsimile program]. I think I made it past Kraid and just kinda lost interest. I just don't think I'd personally get much value out of finishing it, tbh; plenty of classic NES games still hold their value for me, but Super was such a huge leap in terms of soundtrack, atmosphere, and environmental / non-verbal storytelling that it would be really hard for me to go back to the original now.

7: Original, Super, Fusion, ZM, Prime 1, Prime 2, Dread

Only played the Original and Dread briefly (have every intention of remedying the latter soon), beaten all the rest. Super is one of my all-time favorite games. Need to get off my ass someday and finally play Prime 3 so I can have my own opinion about it.
