What happens if you take a-4?

A4 is in fact the winning move. Black A4, White A3, black B1, white tries to attack at B7 (although C7 would be just as good/bad), and then A1 means that even if white tries to attack A-C6, black is able to capture with B4 and win the whole shape.

C7 is a pretty bad move all around. It doesn't do much aside from give white incentive to fix their structure. B8 is a clever move, and in some situations would do great, but there's just enough strength around white for that to be basically struggling to no avail, white is still able to press and take the side.

Yeah, I don't know much about Go, but I know its not 3a, if there's one thing I remember about how go works, is that when you have two holes in a formation, it makes it immune to capture.

I'll guess E6 to start trying to capture the upper territories and white's stones in that area. Or maybe C11 for a similar reason.

E6 and C11 both cede a considerable amount of board. Any tanuki makes the three stones at A-C 6 dead, and gives white the entirety of the left side of the board shown.

I never really got beyond 8k at my strongest, but I had a pretty nasty Taisha setup opening that got me there when I was actively studying.

This has always sounded like such bullshit to me. With the exception of some forced moves, the movesets are so open that the uncertainty that should propagate over even just a couple of moves is enormous. Seems so unlikely that people are projecting moves into the future, rather than recognizing general strategies (that have names) and implementing other strategies (that also have names) to try to counter.

That's only really with respect to openings. Midgames in chess and go are much more about reading, tracking forced moves, and then determining if the projected board states have good or bad shape.

Specifically, the vaccines reduce the severity of acute symptoms, but I haven't heard anything about effect on long term effects/epstein-barr virus reactivation. It's a little rougher because of the wide number of video hosting sites, but that is valid. Because google still prioritizes video (fuck you, zuckerberg) you have to do like -youtube -tiktok -facebook -vimeo....

I also miss written/picture guides instead of video guides. Like, if you were trying to fix your car, they'd write out and show pictures so you can actually reference stuff instead of needing to watch a video and pause 30 times.

What in the world makes you believe this.

Mostly some of the reading and theorizing that I've seen on both adhd and autism, specifically theories about myelin wearing down or decaying or even just being in short supply, being associated with reduced neural conductivity. Also, the relatively common cross/misdiagnosis between adhd and depression, and often similar methods of self medication (nicotine and tobacco use being common for both). I wouldn't lump autism into it, but I've read advocates talking about some of the parallels and comorbidities of autism and adhd, it's enough to have some level of mental connection for me.

Long story short, we don't know. SSRIs can have a positive effect, but that's coincidence, a shortage of serotonin is not a cause of depression.

I personally theorize that depression might be a different presentation of the same mechanics that cause adhd and/or autism. But I don't know enough about biology and neurology to really be able to determine that.

New and delete are the same thing as malloc and free just extended for C++ specific things but regardless it's 2022 and GCs have come a long way and usually do a better job of managing memory than most programmers.

It's more along the lines of handling dead references - it's very likely to accidentally hold references to objects that you want to unload in GC'd code, especially when you're dealing with visual objects. Better to just manage it manually.

This isn't why Java is bad. Especially not on Android where there's an abstraction layer and C++ is managing the memory whether you code for it or not.

There's also the issue of the JVM being terrible, but unless C++ changed in the last 10 years or so, you still have to manage memory. Not to the same extent as C with malloc, but it's still important to handle explicit deconstruction.

Don't use unity or vanilla Java. Java's performance is dismal and unoptimizable, especially at scale, due to GC. Unity was recently acquired by a group that has a history of spyware. If you want to use an engine try learning UE4.

If you want to just work in a basic programming language (like java), you want to learn C++. The syntax is a little tougher, the concepts are heavy, but it's substantially more powerful.
