Signing Your UFAs Rules

1. I will PM everyone their UFAs and the slash line (length/total/signing bonus) of their desired deal. I will also include and isolate any players who are either holding out or hate your team to where they will only sign with you if you place the franchise tag on them.

2. You will PM me back with the following format (using two players from my team as an example)

Unrestricted Free Agents (AKA Signing Your Remaining Free Agents)

Any player of yours whose contract expired and was not part of the previous event will be included here. This is an extremely straightforward event. You either sign or you do not sign players, Those you do stay on your team, those you don't enter the free agent pool.

When you receive the PM with your slash lines, remember that those are not the deals you have to sign them to. With a few exceptions that I will lay out, you can sign anyone (pending the age/max length rule) to deals 1-7 years in length. If you wish to give a player a custom offer, I might be available to do live signings on Discord or the spreadsheet. Otherwise, we can bounce PMs off of each other for a while (remember that there is a deadline though and delay in response could be a day or longer). If you wish to offer someone a deal of a different length but do not want to bother with the financials, you can merely say you want to give X player the default deal for Y years.

There are only two wrinkles for this event. One is that a few players might hold out for better deals. I can confirm that one user has a pair of holdouts. What happens is that I will isolate them in the PM and tell you their base deal. If you elect not to sign them, they will stay on your team without playing a down for you until you trade them, release them, or give into their contract demands. Keep in mind that any guaranteed money still left on their contract (annual bonus) is transferred over to the new contract.

The second wrinkle is that some players hate your team to where they will only sign via the franchise tag, which is a one year deal that pays them the average of the Top 5 salaries at their position or 120% of what they made last season, whichever is higher. I will isolate those players and also tell you how much money that comes out to as of this moment. The franchise tag has rarely been used, so while I am not expecting anyone will use it, you never know.

For those who don't remember, the age/max length rule is that you can't sign a player to a longer contract if it will take them past their age-34 season. You can however sign a player through their age-34 season if it was already included in their default contract. For example, if a 33-year-old player asks for a 3 year contract, you can sign him to that deal because it was part of the default deal. You cannot sign them to a 4+ year contract though.

Also remember that sign-and-trades are not allowed. Players signed to 1 year contracts are ineligible to be traded (RFAs signed via tenders are exempt from this rule). Players signed to multi-year contracts are ineligible to be traded until Week 9 of the regular season.

Great town sim game with streamlined mechanics. My favorite is that time elapses based not by time but by successful actions. While not a game that one would traditionally called beatable, credits roll after getting married, so I guess I will add that to here.

RFA Phase 3 results

The Bengals signed Pioneers FS Tedric Thompson to a 4 year deal. The Pioneers elected not to match and received the Bengals' 2nd round pick.

While I am still not a fan of the finicky weapon swapping and trying to deal with deadly fauna, this was a fun return six and a half years later.

I had to laugh again because the first time that I beat this game, I remember randomly coming across the guy in a town, and I was like, "Is that the asshole who burned my ranch?" Something similarly bizarre happened this time. I was getting closer to nailing down his appearance, but I was trying to do things differently this time, namely siding with the Native Americans. I had just busted open and released the buffalo from Rancher Bell in Clintville, and I was rushing to my horse to run away when I apparently triggered the scene where I discovered the culprit. What are the odds of that happening by pure chance lol?

Ever since I had a favorite genre, it has always been racing, but I was never a picky gamer and play and enjoy just about every broad genre out there.

I have always enjoyed shorter, endless, and/or multiplayer experiences, and that has been amplified as I have gotten older.

I had been buying Nintendo/Microsoft/Sony since the GC/Xbox/PS2 era, but that might come to an end and just stick with PC, Microsoft, and Nintendo. I think it has been over a year since I last bought anything for a Sony console.

Assassin's Creed Unity (XB1)

Having not played a game in the series since 2016 and having four or so games in the backlog, I decided to finally go through another. It was definitely better than I expected, though I know its poor reputation mostly stemmed from a disatrous launch that was clearly patched up quite a bit.

The main assassination missions were definitely the highlight, mixing in the open-endedness of stealth series pioneers like Hitman and Thief. I really liked France from an aesthetic point, and it was interesting putting this during the French Revolution, but arguably the biggest draw to these games for me is scaling incredible archiecture, and 18th century France has nothing on the Italian and Middle Eastern settings of previous games.

Hopefully I don't take six years to start Syndicate.

I could possibly do all three games.

Into the Breach has been installed for a couple of years, so I will give that a go. I'm not sure how difficult this is, and I seldom actually beat roguelikes, but I beat FTL so maybe I can do this in a month without needing to play every day.

I first beat Westerado in January of 2016, and I only vaguely recall some things including it being rather short, so I re-installed it after the drawing and will probably get through it in the first week or two of this month.

Of the four Klonoa games that I own (Wii remake, 2, Dream Champ Tournament, Empire of Dreams), I want to say that Door to Phantomile (aka Wii remake) was my least favorite. Still, that was nearly 15 years ago, so I would be willing just to try it out again. The problem is motivating me to get my Wii out of basement storage.

What is Game of the Month Club?
Game of the Month is a community project open to all B8ers where users share, discover, play and/or discuss a select few games every month. The games featured each month are chosen by YOU the users (and Lady Luck)

The Basics
- Each month will usually feature three games that were chosen via a random drawing from a pool of games that users nominated
- For each game you beat, you get a cool point on our just-for-fun standings as well as a nomination for next month's randomized drawing
- In order to receive the point and nomination, you must beat said game within the calendar month
- If you beat one of the current month's games in the previous month, you can apply for a "recently beaten waiver," but you will only receive a point and no nomination should you do so
- Drawing for next month's games is usually on the 25th
- If you periodically keep us posted on your progress and/or talk about different aspects of the games, then everyone will think you are super awesome!

Nomination Rules
- You get one nomination automatically each month
- You receive additional nominations each month for every featured game that you beat
- Each game you nominate has to be unique from all other nominations and cannot include a game that has already been selected for GotM
- Each game must be a standalone game that can be acquired and played on its own (aka cannot be DLC/expansion that requires the base game)
- Nominations only carry over if you beat a featured game after the drawing for next month's games but before the end of the month
- You have 9 supports you can use throughout the year. Your only limitations are that you can't support your own nomination, and you can only use one support per game per month

New compilation titles that includes new features to the games is an odd complaint for them being included in these topics. What I do find perplexing is when a game has already been out for awhile and is just getting a port to a different system (aka Legend of Wright).

Knight > Asylum > City

While the other two build upon Asylum in a myriad of critical areas, there's something about the smaller, more intimate setting of the asylum and far and away best version of the Riddler side stuff.

That being said, Gotham was a fantastic setting in Knight, it was the peak of combat by a considerable margin, and despite what I heard about it going in, the batmobile and tank were excellent additions.

I could honestly flip flop between Knight and Asylum on any given day. City is great but in a distant third.
