6: what exactly is a calamity? they seem to be random. how do they work? an ascian initiates a rejoining in a shard by tipping the elemental scale too far in one direction. as a result a calamity ocurrs in the source. But the calamities seem completely random. the 6th calamity was dalamud blasting the planet with energy and it being channelled through the crystal tower into some kind of earthquake or something. the 7th umbral calamity was bahamut flying around and carpet bombing everything. the 8th calamity was about to be poison gas. how does any of this relate to a shard overflowing with elemental energy re-joining the source
