It is a bit odd, at first glance. It's the most "straight forward" protagonist stand afaik (barring Star Platinum, but even that had hinted at untapped potential when it used it's crazy eyes on the photograph), I assume there's an unrevealed mechanic to how it works, or that it'll get some sort of upgrade.

At least, if he hasn't fully decided on its powers, guess it's better to hold back and add more later, than give it half-ideas for powers that need to be scaled back/ignored later lol

It's a top-tier 90s rpg. If you like the genre and/or that period of games, it's a must play.

For Batman I feel like the best "rival" character would've been Jason Todd's Red Hood, but they've kissed and made up by now so meh. Catwoman sort of works too.

Superman, yeah I guess Zod would be the closest thing, in terms of powerset and opposing ideology. Though Manchester Black does the opposing ideology thing too and can probably out-charisma Zod if someone had to make a movie about one of them.

The pass is absolutely worth it, though idk how much time is left in the current one.

Also, you get retroactive progress even if you don't buy it right away. I say play how you want now, and if you reach level 50 on the free pass, buy the gold and claim the rewards, since it'll still be worth it even then. If you can't reach level 50 before the current gold pass, just save your gems for the next one.

But overall they are absolutely worth it. Maxing them out is easy in the two month time period, they refund the gems you paid into it, and they give you 4 UR cards worth of crafting points. (if you do the math, a single UR of your choice is worth about 1500 gems. So even if you don't complete the pass, just getting 30 dust from the gold pass is well worth it.)

I woulda had the otk but I banished Cat Shark off Prosperity, thinking I wouldnt need it.

I ended up taking out the Baronne combo because you have to make her before Gigantic, which means you're vulnerable to Nibiru, which everyone seems to be running despite all the top decks not caring about Nibiru. >_>

And i mean yeah you can use Baronnes negate on Nibiru, but at that point Id rather just focus on making the regular board more consistent.

Metal Gear. Didnt play any of them until like, a year or two before the PS4 came out lol.

And I ended up playing them via some old PS2 collection box I bought from Gamestop. Had to go out of my way to find a PS1 memory card because MGS1 wasnt even ported or anything, it was just the old PS1 disc slapped in a PS2 box to fit with the others.

But I instantly became hooked and ended up playing all of them back to back, and its what prompted me to finally buy a PS3 just so I could play 4 lol

I t ied getting into this game but I really hate the way they do secret packs. I unlocked the red eyes dragon one and was gonna get it but I didn't realize they were in a 24hour timer. Some others are there for like a week but the one I wanted was gone before I could decide if I wanted to get it. Super annoying. The reason why I waited was because I was gonna wait to see if a blue eyes one was gonna pop up. I want to do normal battle about my deck fuckin sucks and I hate the tutorial decks.

So the way Secret Packs work is, you can trigger them whenever you want so long as you craft an SR or UR from that pack. The ones that are there for a month or week are specfically promotions Konami is doing. (The Sky Striker pack for instance, was there when they added new cards to it. And the current ones are part of an alt art promo)

Check MasterDuelMeta if you want to see which cards are in which packs. You craft an SR, it'll pop back up and you can pull from it. Kind of annoying, but if you know what deck you want to play, it's usually easy enough to just search the cards in the deck editor, then craft one of the yellow rarities you don't have. So you can make the Blue Eyes pop up instantly if you wanted to.

Honestly a lot of modern yugioh is what I wished old yugioh was back when I was a kid. The anime always had the craziest, stupidest bullshit combos and interactions going on, but the irl game had much simpler game states.

though I guess two things I really lament is 1) how traps have been largely powercrept out of everything except trap decks. Stuff like Fiendish Chain, Solemn Strike, and even Dimensional Prison used to be pretty solid cards to run. And now it's like...Imperm...sometime Evenly Matched if you need a board breaker, are the only generic traps that see widespread play iirc

Then 2) how useless the battle phase has become. game has just loaded everything into the main phase, there's rarely any exciting moments of crashing your big boss monster against your opponent's big boss monster, because if your opponent's big boss monster is still on the field, they're probably fucking you up >__>

I actually don't mind Mirrorjade so much in isolation. Like if it's just some random deck using a Branded package it's pretty reasonable to work around. Just...Despia itself never actually expends any of its resources. It just shuffles them around a bit to be used again.

...which come to think of it, is a pretty clever design trick. Mirrorjade has drawbacks and weaknesses that keep it from being oppressive when used generically, but can circumvent them when played in its intended deck. As annoying as it can be, I think it's one of the better designed boss monsters.
