For what it's worth, adjourning would probably be more productive. The Republicans could actually have some backroom meetings to negotiate some kind of compromise instead of standing around for pointless roll call votes. If electing a Speaker is their main job then adjourning is more likely to make it happen.

This is why neither of the groups opposed to McCarthy will let that happen, of course.

I dont think a lot of people will develop any fondness for most of the ST over time. Maybe TFA, but TLJ is way too polarizing and RoS is nearly equally terrible.

I doubt TFA ever gets a nostalgia bump either. The problem there is that it's not really a satisfying story by itself. Even back when it released, the general consensus was something like "it's not great, but it set us up for better movies later". Without those "better" sequels, what's the point?
