The slogan by itself is harmless but it was coopted/associated with alt-right groups, particularly in ~2016-2017. Same with "All Lives Matter" where it's a response to "Black Lives Matter" as a slogan. The latter isn't exclusionary but focuses on one group, the former is non exclusionary but is a response to something non-exclusionary treating it as though it's exclusionary.

Really great movie, surprised it got panned on release. I think it's aged pretty well - the premise probably seems less out-there now than it might've then - and it's pretty well acted. Only complaint is that it's a bit uneven and the last act is a bit iffy. Still, it's super vulnerable considering its subject matter and is more respectful than it is exploitative.

I think I've posted the self-identified far right comics four or five times in these threads where they openly just say "Yeah some dog breeds are inferior, like humans." Literally had a now banned user tell me black people weren't the same "breed" as white people. They just get ignored because either the people doing it know what they are doing, or they think it's a stretch to compare things when self-identified fascists do it in their popular webcomics.

I really recommend Yume 2kki. Yume Nikki is a game I replay every 1-2 years since it isn't super long, but it's definitely consistent in a lot of its imagery and paints an individual texture whereas 2kki, a fan collab, retains a lot of the uncertainty and weirdness but feels a lot more like dreaming in earnest with paths that can basically go on forever due to the game's sheer size.

Western studios don't have the balls to make a good live action anime adaptation. Give this shit to an Indian studio or a Chinese studio and we'd get 500 episodes of awesome shit.

It doesn't really have anything to do with "having the balls", it's just animation is animation and it often innately cannot work in live action. Alternatively, it's often a matter of profiting on a brand, meaning it gets second rate directors who aren't really all that dedicated to the subject matter.

The problem is partially that some people view animation as secondary to live action, so a live action adaptation could be hypothetically views as a "step up," which is all total nonsense.

I like it more than The Wire tbqh. I love that what happens in the first episode carries wake throughout the entire series, up until the very last episode.

It's a lot more flawed than the Wire I think in terms of plotting and it really could've benefitted from more setup, but it definitely has one of the most well executed endgames of any show ever

The movies are (generally) well regarded. I think you can criticize components of them or argue some installments are more superfluous than others, or even that they lack style by the last few, but they garnered positive critical reception and most criticisms of the franchise don't really boil down to single movies/books being flawed.

Like, you say Azkaban is the only decent one. I don't really get that. Philosopher's Stone is well made, well composed, has a pretty distinct style to it, is well acted, etc.

None of the historically good Harry Potter games are really well known for their combat, and combat focused ones trended into "bad button mashers." The thing that really defined the success of early Harry Potter games tended to be atmosphere & exploration, more or less akin to a Zelda-like.

I'd definitely rather have the giant castle/stealth components depending on time of day/vast collectibles than combat. Maybe Legacy will deliver but I just doubt it'll be as cohesive as prior titles, limited as they could be. I'm sure it'll be the apex of combat for the game side of the franchise, but the bar there is abysmally low.

There's a pretty obvious difference between Rowling getting royalties from Legacy and somebody buying second-hand copies of 20 year old console games that aren't sold by the publisher anymore. Not even mentioning the more likely way people would play those games
