I'd recommend the console versions of Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban, and maybe Sorcerer's Stone to a lesser extent. Both have a lot of fun stealth elements and emphasize exploration. Great OSTs that are original but do a great job at emulating Williams' style.

I say "SS to a lesser extent" because the console version is heavily adapted from CoS and is buggy. I still thought it was fun, but it doesn't have the impact of CoS to PoA where you get an entirely new layout/system to play with.

After that it's all shit as far as I can tell. Goblet of Fire is one of the worst games I've ever played. It's going from underrated licensed titles made by devs who cared/gave a shit to actual shovelware.

What did you think of A Plague Tale? Because they were known for shovelware and they churned out two very good games.

Definitely a possible outcome for Avalanche. I'm skeptical because it seems unlikely to me that WB is in such freefall in the movie department but somehow has their shit together in managing a game studio, but yeah, sometimes things do work out.

There's no tangible benefit to trusting curated previews when this exact same thing has happened dozens of times into the title being an immediate failure. It's really a matter of seeing how the launch goes. I don't really get preordering something these days but obviously people who do are going to lean more optimistically because it'd kind of suck to be hyped for something then see it be terrible.

There's a difference between an upstart studio and a studio that largely produced shovelware for two decades and was shut down. A good way to view it; studios known for well made open world experiences like Rockstar and CDPR both have had very high profile failure for very hyped up games. Cyberpunk in particular springs to mind. Even though it worked out, it had one of the worst launches of a game in recent memory.

Chances are it's going to be not great. Azkaban and Chamber of Secrets are already both really good and I imagine this'll be subject to quantity over quality like a lot of open world games.

Could be wrong of course but this isn't a studio known for making good games and very curated previews aren't a good sign.

As someone who hasn't ever done this, but has been an alcoholic: It's entirely to dull emotional pain. Passing out is, to an extent, the point.

Legacy looks better in the sense that it looks more realistic, but I think it's far more likely Chamber of Secrets' overall style is better. I can certainly remember that game's OST and vision of what Hogwarts looks like, and I guess open world-ifying Hogwarts doesn't actually sound that interesting to me.

Hard to really describe but plenty of "outdated" styles still look better because they are more cohesive and designed with quality over quantity in mind. Same reason why a lot of PS1-aesthetic horror games look substantially better than most of what Ubisoft puts out because the former has intent, focus, & purpose but the latter rarely does.

like, i dunno, maybe having an exponentially higher number of trucks on the road is a horrendous idea, given;

-Traffic congestion is already an issue
-Long distance travel is better suited to trains
-It's cause more emissions and just worsen both pollution and climate change
-There'd be a higher incidence of contamination on public roads since an exponentially higher number of trucks creates more failure points

I've lost a few. It really does hurt because I'm a homebody so I'm around them a lot, and if they're indoor cats they generally die due to old age and the illness that comes with it. They keep their personality but you can see things wear on them.

Having had a cat that died in 2018 a bit young at around ~11, I can say say he was happy for most of his life and even when he was sick with whatever he had, he still was really nice, appreciated company, comforted people, loved his litter mate, etc. I didn't dwell on it too long because, as silly as it sounds, I don't think they would've wanted that. He was a pet, but he peacefully passed in the care of his family.

I've had those thoughts a lot and all I can say is don't dwell on it too much and enjoy the time you have. Don't hesitate to get them seen by a vet if you can afford it, of course, but vets can only do so much in some cases.

It's not like Interstellar where that film just needed to end a bit earlier and needed no exposition at all in the black hole. Until it overexplained and dragged at the end it's fantastic

Fundamentally those backing AI art reek of the same techbro stench that gave us NFTs. AI art might have actual commercial viability in some fashion for marketing, but it lacks authenticity, community, intent, messaging - anything, it's just a weapon that will be used by people who are not artists in order to disempower actual artists.

It will likely fail since art impacting culture does so because of the intent behind it or the reaction to that intent. People will never be impressed by it because there is nothing to be impressed by; no craft, no identifiers, no technique, nothing, just a bunch of numbers in a tin can stealing other works and meshing them together into a void of meaning.

Even something like self-driving cars, which will have impacts on industries, ultimately do serve a good purpose to society. Most tech developments like this do. But to apply it to art is to misunderstand the actual meaning of art to a culture. The same culture that detatches itself from the almost factory made lack of aesthetic as the MCU will not then attach itself to AI art; the latter is simply the final result of making art products. It has no shelf life, spoils, and is left to history's dustbin beyond what it showed about the culture it was made in.
