Fandom bought up a bunch of sites from Red Ventures, including GameFAQs, Gamespot, Giant Bomb, Metacritc, TV Guide (lol), and Comic Vine. Red Ventures bought all those properties for 500 million and sold them for about 55 million to Fandom.

Redventures didn't sell off everything they bought for 500 million. It appears they still own CNET.

Best case scenario : Nothing change. GameFAQs isn't a huge money maker but it has relatively low upkeep for how much traffic it gets.

Likely scenario : Fandom tries to shove more ads everywhere to make a quick buck regardless of how it effects the longterm health of the website.

Worse case scenario : They see no reason for forums and nuke them.

The Dark Knight Rises is mostly hot garbage but the Bane plane scene is unintentionally one of the funniest movie scenes ever. Every time you watch it you find something new that is stupid.

Seconding this. One of the stupidest plot twists I ever seen. I burst out laughing with how contrived it was when it happened and dropped the game for a year.

The actual ending was also overly melodramatic (in no way as ridiculous the quoted plot twist though).

Not the worst, but relatively the worst to the rest of the game : Mass Effect 3.

The game is stylish as hell, but doesn't really sacrifice substance. The combat is fun, maybe not the best, but it is top tier. The fusing system is really addicting, even if you don't really need to create perfect personas. The social life sim actually augments your combat abilities so it encourages you to try many different side stories. The long length of the game may be a turn off, but it has great world building and it is sometimes nice to get lost in another world for sometime.

There are big pacing issues near the middle of the game, but the intro dungeon and related story is one of the best opening act hooks for a game ever. I think in general it is better for a game to have a great intro and ending instead of a the middle being the high point. Persona 5's intro is one of the best, and the original ending to the game is very good. Royal's epilogue chapter knocks it out of the park and it might even be better that the first act of the game.

Apparently the copyright for Metropolis is expiring in the US at the end of the year. One of the most influential films in sci-fi will finally enter the public domain.

A lot of lost film is probably just sitting around in collections without the owners realizing its rarity. Recently, I found an auction for the "lost" 1911 film The Battle of Trafalgar. The description for the auction didn't mention how rare the film was, it seems like it was just a dude unloading old films he owned. I was gonna bid up to $100 on it and try to get it digitally persevered and shared (it was on early safety film, not dangerous nitrate so I wasn't worried about it spontaneously burning up). However there was already a $300 bid and it sold for $500. I only hope the buyer is trying to preserve and share the film, not hoard it.

Two episodes of Doctor Who were found in a Mormon church that was built after the episodes went missing.

The sequel apparently will march on without the original creators.
