https://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/federal-appeals-court-upholds-connecticuts-transgender-athlete-policy/2938175/
A federal appeals court on Friday dismissed a challenge to Connecticuts policy of allowing transgender girls to compete in girls' high school sports, rejecting arguments by four cisgender runners who said they were unfairly forced to race against transgender athletes.
A three-judge panel of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York City upheld a lower court judges dismissal of a lawsuit challenging the policy. The panel said the four cisgender athletes lacked standing to sue - in part because their claims that they were deprived of wins, state titles and athletic scholarship opportunities were speculative.
All four Plaintiffs regularly competed at state track championships as high school athletes, where Plaintiffs had the opportunity to compete for state titles in different events, the decision said. And, on numerous occasions, Plaintiffs were indeed champions, finishing first in various events, even sometimes when competing against (transgender athletes).
The judges added, Plaintiffs simply have not been deprived of a chance to be champions.
The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Council argued its policy is designed to comply with a state law that requires all high school students be treated according to their gender identity. It also said the policy is in accordance with Title IX, the federal law that allows girls equal educational opportunities, including in athletics.

Todays ruling is a critical victory for fairness, equality, and inclusion. Joshua Block, a lawyer for the ACLUs LGBTQ & HIV Project, said in a statement. This critical victory strikes at the heart of political attacks against transgender youth while helping ensure every young person has the right to play.
Transgender athletes ability to compete in sports is the subject of a continuing national debate. At least 12 Republican-led states have passed laws banning transgender women or girls in sports based on the premise it gives them an unfair competitive advantage.
Transgender rights advocates counter such laws arent just about sports, but another way to demean and attack transgender youth.
Roger Brooks, a lawyer from the conservative Alliance Defending Freedom who represented the four Connecticut cisgender athletes, did not immediately return a message seeking comment Friday. A message also was left for the alliance.
The plaintiffs argued the rights of cisgender girls under Title IX are being violated in Connecticut by being forced to compete against what they term biological males. They sought injunctions to bar enforcement of the state policy on transgender athletes and to remove records set by transgender athletes from the books, as well as money damages.
In arguments before a federal judge in Connecticut in February 2021, Brooks said Title IX guarantees girls equal quality of competition, which he said is denied by having to race people with what he described as inherent physiological advantages.
Brooks said the transgender sprinters improperly won 15 championship races between 2017 and 2020 and cost cisgender girls the opportunity to advance to other races 85 times.
Miller and Yearwood, the transgender sprinters from Bloomfield and Cromwell, respectively, frequently outperformed their cisgender competitors.
The plaintiffs competed directly against them, almost always losing to Miller and usually finishing behind Yearwood. One of the plaintiffs, Chelsea Mitchell of Canton High School, finished third in the 2019 state championship in the girl's 55-meter indoor track competition behind Miller and Yearwood.
All the athletes have since graduated from high school.

It's weird how no actual trans female athlete is absurdly dominant. Of course, this is high school athletics in Connecticut: not exactly lofty heights LOL.
It's almost like those studies aren't very good. But, of course, if we lived in a world where trans women were allowed to compete freely in women's sports, we would also live in a world where any "advantage" they might gain from masculinizing puberty will rarely ever actually be gained because we would get them appropriate treatment early and often.

You do all know that changing your hormonal balance completely altering your body mass, right? Right!?
Also I have a way lower testosterone level than just about any cis woman.

I always like to point out that all this senseless outrage is stirred up against approximately 0.6% of the U.S. population. A vanishingly tiny number of that vanishingly tiny minority competes in sports at any level. Lia Thomas is possibly the most successful trans athlete ever, and she ate shit in 2 out of 3 of her events at the national collegiate level.

Trans people are by their nature outliers, as are elite athletes.

Several reasons:

1) Trans people are systemically marginalized and deplatformed, and have long been pathologized by cis people. There is a marked preference for cis accounts of transness in the media, and a lack of appreciation for the trans experience and how radically different it is in general.

2) Trans women, specifically, are a lethal challenge to the idea of the supremacy of masculinity. It is treated as a fact that men are masculine and men are superior to women, and thus a "man" who presents herself as a woman must, of course, be engaged in some kind of deception or otherwise be a degenerate. This social pathology is the root of so-called "trans panic" defenses and was and still is a common trope with regards to trans women in media: our femininity is nearly always presented as either a deception or as inauthentic (or both).

3) With regards to sports, people who argue that, say, Lia Thomas competing with other women is inherently unfair are leaning on the idea that Lia (and all trans women) are essentially masculine and thus men, and thereby naturally superior. No evidence is needed to back up this assertion: the fact that Lia struggled in two of her three events at national competitions against female athletes (or the fact that she was an excellent swimmer pre-transition) don't matter. And, actually, it's quite useful to discuss specific examples, because the number of prominent trans athletes is essentially nil. Also Lia would probably get dumpstered at the Olympics, if they hadn't specifically banned her. Katie Ledecky's record-time in the 500m (Lia's best event and the one she placed first in and set a collegiate record in) is almost 10 seconds faster. Oddly, no one is suggesting Katie has an unfair advantage over her competitors.

4) Cis society doesn't understand how powerful and effective HRT actually is: even many endocrinologists (i.e. the people prescribing hormones) don't! Essentially 99% of what makes some one male or female is down to easily-manipulable hormone levels - which puts a fatal lie to the idea that sex and/or gender is some essential, immutable thing and that men and women are really much different at all.

Just once, years ago. It was getting towards closing time at work, and like four or five goth people came in, including this gorgeous lady dressed to the nines in gothic finery, including black fishnets (a particular weakness of mine) and dramatic makeup (in what I now understand as high femme.) Blonde, petite, totally gorgeous.and then I realized I knew her: it was the cake decorator!

And then I realized she was glaring at me. Im pretty sure I blushed and I *may* have audibly yelped. This was in the before time.

Anyway, she didnt seem to hold it against me. I would chat her up from time to time. I was in charge of glove distribution in mornings and would always ask the Bakery kitchen if they needed anything (a lot of people forgot them lol) and she would horde medium gloves.

She quit, along with her assistant team leader BFF, about a year before I transferred over there. Apparently the ATL let her get away with anything and everything and they both had a melty when the Team Leader found out and resolved to take corrective action. (Aforementioned TL is now my boss and is just the sweetest person).

PS - I told the first half of that story to an old friend I used to crush upon hard, and she listened thoughtfully and replied, Oh yeah, their outfits are so intricate! Never occurred to her there would be another component to being completely spellbound by a goth girl. So its def for the best that we ended up just friends.

Its highly problematic for your Time Machine(TM) to be in a time prior to its own existence, and ditto for you. And, if you could, there would be an endless number of awful paradoxes created even if you didnt do anything.
But God forbid you actually do something. Theres tons of sci-fi that explores the insane ramifications of that.

Going forward seems perfectly doable, as insane hypotheticals go.

I just love the atmosphere most of all. https://www.theloadout.com/bloodlines-2/developer-the-chinese-room
Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 has been lurking in the shadows for almost two years now ever since Hardsuit Labs was removed from the project. But, now it appears that the new developer of Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is little British indie studio The Chinese Room.
Spotted by Ros96 on Reddit, an interview posted on The Chinese Rooms YouTube channel shows some monitors at the two-minute mark with a menu that looks almost identical to what we saw in gameplay back in 2019. The purple colour scheme and moody streets also fit the gothic Seattle that the game was set in.
While this isnt confirmation, The Chinese Room has been hiring extensively over the last year and is still hiring, including for a triple-A project in Unreal Engine 4. A post for a Game Director, which can be seen via an internet archive, listed the role as being suitable for someone with a background as a Lead Game Designer and experience of and interest in relevant genres such as first-person games, narrative, action-adventure, RPG, horror. That sounds a lot like the boxes Bloodlines 2 fits into as a first-person RPG.

If The Chinese Room is working on the game, which at this point seems more than likely, this will by far be the studios biggest project to date, having worked on smaller titles like Everybodys Gone To The Rapture and Little Orpheus. It will also be the first time the studio has ventured into the RPG genre.
However, reactions on Reddit suggest fans are cautious, especially since there are now almost two decades worth of expectations. Questions are also being raised about whether The Chinese Room will be able to handle a RPG of this scale with an title as big as Vampire The Masquerade, as highlighted by old Bloodlines 2 screenshots.
Weve contacted Paradox for a comment on the rumours. That release might be soon according to Paradox Interactives CEO Fredrik Wester.
TL;DR It might be Indie UK developer The Chinese Room, developer of such games as Dear Esther and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.
