i get where you're coming from here. when i go out to eat, i request my food be cooked w/o butter. in the event that the kitchen staff ignored my request, or just made a mistake and cook with butter, i eat it anyway because the cow already suffered so i might as well make that suffering have a purpose instead of going into the trash.

my exception to this is if i order a meat alternative and get served meat. i wont eat it. sorry, cow, but at this point eating meat would make me physically ill.

Here's a question: What would be a better life for these animals? In captivity where they are safe and always fed with some uncomfortable housing....or out in the wild where they have to fend for themselves and in most cases, if they run into prey they will die a horrible and gruesome death? Your morals and ethics are pointless in this world.

they are not "safe" by any means. their entire existence is dominated by pain and suffering. i would much rather the animals live free in nature than be trapped in captivity where they suffer for our pleasure. it would be better if they weren't bred at all, than to live the way they do.

im starting to think you're not posting in good faith.

There are literal animals out in the wild living better lives than some humans lol. They don't give a damn about how they make their kills. They eat and devour their prey, in much more gruesome ways than we can ever do to animals in farms. I've seen videos where lions rip out the guts of their prey and eat them alive. The animal just sits there with its guts hanging out.

What we do in comparison is a luxury spa for these animals.

i dont understand the point of this post? are you trying to argue that because nature is brutal, we shouldn't extend our empathy to animals?

and using animals or nature as a basis of our own morality is a poor metric. animals kill and rape each other regularly, they don't have morals. we do.

i don't think you're aware of exactly how much pain and suffering factory farmed animals endure. it's not just moments before death that they suffer, it's basically a constant throughout their entire existences. millions upon millions of living creatures suffer every single day because we want to please our taste buds.

So I decided to do my part in saving the planet by eating caged animals, smaller foot print on the environment.

im not sure if you're trolling, or just woefully misinformed. but the animals that we farm to turn into meat need to eat stuff, too. we use water, land and other resources to produce food which is exclusively fed to farm animals.

if you owned a farm with lots of animals you loved and treated well would you be willing to eat their eggs and make cheese from their milk knowing that you never mistreated any of the animals?

people bring up "backyard eggs" often. im still not a huge fan because those chickens have been bread to produce maximum eggs and its difficult on their bodies. they also lay more eggs than they would 'naturally', which is taxing on their bodies. but of all the possible ways to get eggs, that is the least harmful.

https://theminimalistvegan.com/backyard-eggs/
https://www.surgeactivism.org/backyardeggs

as for dairy, there's still the forced insemination of the cow (ie rape) and the calf being forcibly taken from the mother, neither of which sit right with me. cows only produce milk if they've recently given birth, so the normal procedure at dairy farms is to rape the cow, then steal her baby away from her moments after birth. this causes undue suffering to both the cow and the calf. Dominion covers this.

Tofu, at least the packages, seems pricey? Maybe Im misremembering. Do you have buy the beans dry and soak them or whatever? I was thinking I could make black bean burgers en masse because I love beans and nearly all veggie burgers Ive had. Mushrooms too.

at my local grocery (Meijer), a 16oz package of tofu is $2.49. super cheap. i usually buy canned beans and thoroughly rinse them. dried beans are cheaper, though.

The plant based attempts at being meat taste fine but dont really seem that healthy, nor are they cheap so I never bother with those. Gardein makes a really good veggie burger.
