I'm dying. This person was smugly throwing thumbs up "I feel confident" during the whole match.

He plays that Nightcrawler and Hobgoblin, doing a thumbs up before they reveal. And then I have Surfer and Juggs there that just punts both of them into the middle lane. And then I throw a thumbs up after.

I tried a few gambles that didn't pay off in this one but the last turn this dude really screwed himself.

I only saw this today, but I absolutely love this game!

They take a lot of characters from Marvel and humanize them all so well. I completely adore how each character is just an imperfect person who clashes with one another in some way, while also ending up being incredibly likeable. Somehow they make Captain America even fit in this team of weirdos and select Avengers extremely well too. I can't say enough good things about what they do with the characters.

Your self insert character is also charming and fun as well. I find myself laughing as some of their lines often, and somehow they end up relating to a lot of the heroes well. It does a great job using this character to help dig into every other character's personality and backstory, and you end up caring about them as well.

The combat, as well, is awesome. There's something extremely satisfying about taking this game with all of this really clever strategy and making some badass moves with it. Yes, it has cards, but it's not a typical card based game or anything like that. They're just actions you can do on the map, and it by no means ever feels restricting because they have so many robust actions you can do, and the system is so well thought out.

I also love when they throw new mechanics into the mix where you have to severely alter your play style and decide your plan of attack. New bosses you end up facing just make this game awesome, and it's so impressive when they give you a new way to fight, or something else to worry about.

And most importantly, every character feels so great to play. I can actually say there isn't a character I shy away from using because they all look and feel awesome and play differently. I fucking love playing Iron Man and blasting people. I love playing Cap and tossing my shield around and punching folks and being a giant meat shield. I love playing Magik and kicking fools through portals and into explosives. And let me just be Doctor Strange and use ridiculous boosts and nonsense magic. I love getting gritty with Wolverine and just stabbing anything that moves. It rocks and everything makes you feel like you're in the middle of a giant heroic fight.

I haven't beaten it yet, and but I started playing again with the Deadpool DLC and he's extremely fun too. They even got his personality down and it isn't overbearing or anything. He's just a rascally goofball.

I can't recommend the game enough. It's free to try on Steam right now! They also said they're now optimized for Steam Deck, but I haven't tried it yet. But damn, play this game if you love Marvel or you love strategy games.

Fast forward is weird because my MODOK deck won't fast forward until it reaches Swarm. Like it'll individually discard Hellicarrier, then Apoc, and then suddenly fast forward when it hits my Swarm cards.

I don't get it.

Begging the game to keep giving me the Fisk Tower location so I can be the nastiest freak ever with this move opponent deck.

Tbh it makes more sense that Iron Man is bottom win rate because he's early on in the game where a lot of new folks have no idea how to use him.

Also, I think he just played Spidey into Professor X because that's just the play he's used to. A lot of people just go on auto pilot with a combo that usually gets them cubes that they don't think about what could go wrong until it does.

It's pretty fun! Also yes very irritating for the opponent.

One game I had Fisk Tower as a location and just destroyed cards every turn with it.

Just now I had a game where they locked down my Kingpin lane with Professor X (which kept me winning it), but then I focused all my efforts on the middle lane with Storm, Sunspot, and She-Hulk.

The best part is that you have enough options that you don't feel like you NEED to play Magneto last turn, since I've played way too many games where someone has screwed themselves over with the Mags pull.

Playing around with a new deck with the key players being:

Daredevil
Kingpin
Cosmo
Juggernaut
Polaris
Magneto
Aero
Professor X

Daredevil allows you to lock down a lane with Professor X you know you'll win, or use Cosmo or any movement character to disrupt any ideas. Kingpin is beastly to just destroy cards last turn with movement characters too. Lots of fun stuff here.

I was looking at this deck before and was like "Damn, I need Kingpin though." And then out of nowhere Kingpin was my next drop from collection levels. Good fortune!

You guys have to remember that people who are not as online as us and the people talking about how fucking laughably bad this is are also watching it too out of curiosity and it being the latest big HBO Max release based on a popular franchise they grew up with.

It's not all hate watching. It's just people who are so outside of the greater internet sphere that they don't even know what the term hate watching is.

I mean, how can you be mad at people when they literally presented this game leading up to it as literally that?

I don't have much love for FF7 and I don't care, but I know people who bought a PS5 because they thought they were actually getting a remake of the game and were disappointed by it for going off the reservation with it all.

That was how I felt too. I kind of laughed at the absurdity of it all, so it lessened the blow, but damn was it some bad stuff.

I also saw Skinamarink last night because the girlfriend wanted to compare them. My feelings are that Skinamarink is worse because at least things happen in The Outwaters. Most of it sucks, but stuff happens.

Skinamarink is just all just a perfectly set up idea that is completely fucking fumbled. Like all they literally had to do was ditch all of the experimental stuff and just put a real plot there. Skinamarink had like two actually good scenes but it doesn't mean much if the rest of the movie is just absolute nonsense and trash.

The Outwaters makes me more annoyed thinking about it though, mostly because of how lazy it all feels and how they could absolutely do something interesting and good with the idea but, again, cuts out everything that would make it good or interesting.

What kills me are critics fawning over these things and talking about how good they are. I feel like a crazy person reading these positive reviews of The Outwaters and coming out like "How in the hell could anyone come to these conclusions or pretend this was actually scary after the first 5-10 minutes of actually scary stuff?"

You have to know the part I was talking about #5 the end where my theater laughed though, right?

I actually really enjoyed It Comes At Night, but it wasn't a horror movie and shouldn't have been marketed as one. I have good things to say about that movie, but it has a couple problems. I would say the ending was concise and pretty much everything I needed from it though.

The Outwaters moment at the end was more so stupid you can't help but laugh. People in the theater before that were saying the movie was dumb among other things in a whisper. A woman stood up and said "This is too much for me" so she missed the last two or so minutes.

There's another moment towards the end where I was so exasperated that my girlfriend looked over and just started laughing. The degree that I was over this movie was severe.

My favorite thing now about my MODOK deck is getting a random Hellicarrier drop that clutches out a win.

Recently I got a Juggernaut and snapped after they put a Wong down. I used Juggs and he knocked a White Tiger away. Instant rage quit.

A Rogue drop on a Patriot was good too.

The Outwaters thoughts.

This found footage movie is one that has a ton of potential and during the usual boring BS parts where we get to know the characters, sets up a lot of potentially interesting things. And then it does fuck all with it. Absolutely nothing with it, which I can deal with. I was happy to not see the typical dysfunctional found footage characters arguing a ton. But then not only does it do nothing with everything they set up, they do nothing. Period. Nothing. With an ending that lands like a wet fart that my theater laughed at.

This film decides to make an incomprehensible mess of itself that you can vaguely follow, but none of it is interesting. The fatal flaw here is that none of it is good, interesting, and any time they are about to show something interesting they cut to some nonsense like our main character looking at his feet or something. But this repeats on a loop. You're freaked out the first night when shit is going insane and there's blood everywhere and people are screaming. You're less freaked out three nights later when our protagonist is looking at stoic bloody people again.

Dead ass they just loop the same bullshit over and over and add nothing new or interesting. The new things they DO add are so out of place and nonsensical that it just doesn't add anything either. And it's not good. You have nothing to invest in these characters from the moment shit goes down because any characterization or any potential story parts do not matter. Can you believe that the opening phone call we get is the scariest part of the movie? Because they never show you what happens DURING that call. Instead we just have to kind of wonder about what's going on in this time splitting multiversal bullshit that avoids that entirely.

And the ending, my god the ending. The theater laughed uproariously at what I'm sure what supposed to be grotesque and terrifying when our lead randomly cuts off his penis and then goes stumbling in the desert with his intestines hanging out. My girlfriend equated a lot of this to birth and relationships to mothers and I probably agree with that interpretation, but fuck me if it says anything interesting about it. I don't know how you make a movie where all the interesting stuff cuts away. It's absolutely crazy. No idea what they were thinking.

I did not like The Outwaters.

To say the fucking least.

Anecdotal but I care a lot more about trans people having rights than I do people playing a silly wizard game.

Gonna see The Outwaters in about an hour!

I think in Secret Wars they should just have a planet with the absolute most shitty adaptations of characters they could possibly create and say it's from if the MCU just sucked shit from the start. Like the worst costumes and casting they can muster up.

What others said, but each time Swarm is discarded it's +2. Each Apoc is another +1, and Hellicarrier is +3.

There's games where I just end up maxing out my hand with too many Swarms and Collector is just crazy strong.

Playing MODOK after Hellicarrier does it's thing too is great because destroying those three more cards just gives Morbius do much more too.

The duplicate opening hand location also plays well to Collector though as that also gives him points.

God MODOK is my fave. If I have Morb or Collector on the board and I have MODOK at the ready, I drop him and get 12+ for both of those guys. Just outrageous. I love it.

Debating making a MODOK discard deck because MODOK is love MODOK is life.

It seems like the way to do it is to have MODOK, Pooky, Swarm, Morb, Dracula, and America. And fill in the rest how you like. Pooky won't die, you get a good 6 energy card to play every time after he nukes everything, and Swarm can be added anywhere for 0 cost. Morb racks up the points with MODOK nuke, and Drac absorbs Pooky.

Any other theory crafting anyone has for this?

Well I honestly think you need Master Mold to truly tackle it (who doesn't exist yet).

Meh, maybe. But I built it around mostly with Korg, Rock Slide, Mordo, and Maximus, and probably a couple others I don't remember, and it just didn't feel great. Master Mold would help though.

I tried this. At its best, it still feels lacking compared to most other decks.

M3GAN feels like they were testing if they could go absolutely batshit with a sequel, so I hope the next one is just completely unhinged while still being able to have strong themes.

I got 5 levels in the cache after I finished the last chapter and 4/5 of them were Variants. Feels good.

But if it makes anyone feel better, one of them was a pixel variant.
