It is all powered by Salesforce.. they have a proprietary front-end, backend, and administrative technology going on. I am learning that right now. I just have so much to work on.

Question - do you do anything other than Apex/VF/Compr/LWC?

If they're all powered by salesforce, and then salesforce disappeared, wouldn't you be fucked? Sounds crazy, but where is Siebel now? Peoplesoft? Yup.

TBQH I blame Guatemala.

Their border with Mexico is TINY. They should be able to stop people at the border. Their border is probably smaller than the border of CA and OR.

Yet they let the entire south and central america continents flow through their border to Mexico (and then the US) because they think it's funny

It's true that technological progress and innovation are inevitable and necessary for society's advancement. However, it's important to consider the potential impact of AI on jobs and industries and to work towards developing solutions that mitigate the negative effects.

One approach is to focus on retraining and reskilling workers who may be displaced by AI. This could involve investing in education and training programs to help workers acquire new skills that are in demand in emerging industries.

Another approach is to encourage the development of new industries and job markets that are complementary to AI. For example, as AI becomes more prevalent, there may be an increased demand for workers who specialize in designing and developing AI systems, as well as workers in related fields such as data analysis and cybersecurity.

Additionally, policies and regulations could be put in place to ensure that the benefits of AI are distributed more equitably and that workers are protected from unfair practices such as wage suppression or discrimination.

In short, the alternative to holding back innovation in AI is not to do nothing, but rather to approach the development of AI in a responsible and proactive manner that considers the potential impact on workers and society as a whole.

I am very unimpressed by the special effects.

Flame's face looks like a N64 texture. Water has little to no transparency.

The original Killer Instinct had kick ass effects for cinder and glacius. those characters were chosen because the SGI workstations they used to develop KI1 had built-in hardware effects for water and fire.

This is a 1989 movie (same effects used for Glacius), for sake, this looks better than this 2023 pixar movie:

The first interview, they bashed me in the head because they acted like I lied on my resume. Essentially, they wanted someone who had experience working in a university lab who also programmed experiments. I worked in a university lab and had programming experience, but never actually programmed experiments. My resume did not suggest that I did. That's on them.

The other one was for a low-paying Java gig in which they wanted someone who could work with Spring and Hibernate and do command wizardry (things I can do now no problem, but they didn't teach me it at university). The guy's mind was blown when I told him that JAR files were never mentioned in any of my Java courses.

Both sound like the issue I was describing, tbqh. I bet the guy they interviewed after you was like "JAR files! In krakozia we put tears of pet monkey in jar, then we ferment peel of banana in jar with tears. Is good remedy for unwilligness of the man when meeting lady at night" and they kind of shrugged and hired him.

That's interesting when compared to here.

Here there are are 2 tiers of jobs.

Sillicon valley and the FAANGS only hire like, the best of the best. But outside of them there's a weird thing: US grads go through a very hard measuring stick, it's like, "you're NOT from an Ivy? Why" ... "ok, you're from an Ivy, but your GPA is A - ? A MINUS?!... "Ok, you got an A from an Ivy, in computer science, but, why no elite intership? You might as well flip burgers, bro"

But then if the person applying for the same position comes from an ultra low wage country, through the "right" channels (body farms), the conversation changes to "ok, this guy says he graduated from the Krakozia Technical Institute... I guess that's a good school in Krakozia, right?".... "oh, look, he graduated with a GPA of "Gilded Mongoose". We don't know their grading system at all, but gilded means gold, I guess it's a good grade, plus the mongoose is a very smart animal, I am sure this is a good grade"... BOOM, bring this guy from Krakozia!

So a bio-female punches a bio-male in the nuts, and then follows said person into a restroom?

I'd be afraid of the punch-receiver's reaction after the pain goes away a little bit if I were by myself, in a room with nobody else, especially if I am a bio-female.

And if you just got punched in the balls, your face will look like shit this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhs0Gk7E-U8

ResetEra forbidding discussion of it is probably for the best as nothing productive will happen by enabling bigots and trolls to say a goddamned thing.

is it confirmed that the shooter is trans?

Again, CNN is saying "gunman" and talking bad about males right now, so this is not like what I've seen. 0 mentions of whether the shooter is trans, and no pics shown.

If the shooter is trans, I don't know why you're surprised the right is using the event as an excuse to talk bad about trans, they use EVERY SINGLE bad thing any racial, religious or political minority does against their respective group 100% of the time @faultycircuitry so this would be right on the same behavior pattern

I have heard a lot about it everywhere, but not enough in a place I can actually exchange opinions about it - CE .

Is anyone else weirded out by open AI, its CEO and the people's reaction to all of this? Here's basically how I've seen the dynamic go (not their actual words, it's just like, my impressions) :

their CEO: "We're working really hard to make tech jobs redundant. And of course, other jobs too. GPT-3 is not there yet, but some version of GPT is coming for your jobs :*Insert shit-eating grin here* "
People in general: "YAY!!! OMGEEH this is so exciting!!! wow!!! ^_^ "

Media: "So, we tested GPT-3. It is still not good enough to make programming jobs (and other jobs too) disappear :( "

****Chat GPT-4 is released****

Their CEO: "guys, this is really exciting! GPT-4 is even closer to causing the destruction of programming jobs!
But that's not all! Here is a list of the jobs we see as disappearing thanks to GPT, eventually. Look, it's most of the good paying jobs that require education, they will be gone!!! Don't you worry guys, we're spending billions of dollars to make sure good paying jobs are no longer a thing!!! (Shibe's Note: I wish I were making this up: https://www.livemint.com/news/world/these-jobs-are-most-at-risk-due-to-chatgpt-as-per-openai-study-11679358453267.html )
*insert Shit eating grin here*

People and media: YAAAYY!! :) ^_^ :D *Does a little dance*

Ok, so what the fuck is going on? If there were a company called ebola, Inc. or Cordyceps, Inc. and their purpose were to make sure they develop the next version of Ebola or the cordyceps fungus in order to cause torment and pain upon humanity, wouldn't someone be saying "hey, why the fuck are you doing this?"

I'd not expect average people to cheer on Ebola, Inc or Zombie Fungus, Inc and literally wish they reach their objectives any sooner.

I'd also expect Ebola, Inc or Zombie Fungus, Inc to disguise their evilness, like every other mega corporation in the past. You see, Umbrella Corp in RE didn't say "we're experimenting on virus to fuck you up", they say "we're a pharmaceutical company developing good things for humanity". Even Lex Luthor disguises himself as a philantropist, he doesn't say "I am an evil fuck doing evil fuck things". Even in real life, Monsanto says they're "good guys doing good things", not "we're evil assholes trying to charge everyone for crops that used to be free". Fox News say they're "an entertainment company", not "the arm of an evil fuck trying to destroy democracy". So how come Open Ai is so.... honest about their evil intentions and why are they so well received?

I am very confused here
