Same. I only knew it was an actual person when she popped up in the news for something else a short time later. Mentioned it to my brother, who said he only knew her because his daughter geeked out a bit when she showed up on the show.

The name affects drops? Most interesting!

The color ID you are "randomly" assigned during character creation really isn't random, but based on the characters in your username. IIRC, the color ID you got had minor effects on your character, with one rumored to be tied with drops.

I hated that you could only have one character per memory card. Played it a lot, but don't think I every made it past the 2nd boss, I'd just keep grinding the same areas. Didn't have regular internet at the time, so had no idea about how drop rates and stuff were influenced by your character name.

Wish this was more common. Like I briefly mentioned in my other post, a calm request from a customer made it much more likely for me to bend the rules and accommodate them. Best example was dealing with R-rated movies at the theatre. If you are going to be a jerk about showing ID and yelling at the cashiers, you're damn right I'm not selling you a ticket, and would actually go out of my way to watch you try and sneak into the other auditorium.

On the other hand, I once had two girls come to the front desk asking for a manager. They had IDs in hand, and explained that one was 17, the other turned 17 on monday (was a friday or saturday night), and asked if there was any way I would let them in to watch the movie. Because they approached me directly and maturely, I had no reservations about saying yes. Officially, I was in the right to refuse based on company policy, but what would be the point? No screaming, no yelling, and they hopefully had a good night at the movies.

My brain is either tired and/or broken. I read begged as t-bagged.

In that it lets me know a product exists, sure, mostly in regards to knowing that movie is out in the theares/streaming now.

On the flip side, I'm more likely to avoid something out of spite if I see too many ads for it. Back to the movie idea, when the week before release I would see the same ad 2-3 times an hour for 7 days, then fuck you, I'm not spending any money on it.

Same, but not actually saying fuck off. Just being endlessly polite in my way of saying no and drawing a hard stance on company policies that I would usually bend if they were nice. The best result is for them to get so annoyed that they would swear at me. At which point I would tell them we are obviously at an impasse, they are too emotional right now, so have a good day and just walked away.

If you enjoy puzzle games, The Room is a fun one. It also taught me that the switch is actually a touchscreen as well. So much easier to play than pointing the joycons at a television.

The Rusty lake games are a blast too, kind of like escape rooms with an increasingly strange story. I believe the first 8 "chapters" are free in the Cube Escape series. Cube Escape: the Lake is the first one if you want to check out the style to see if it is you.

Sylphet also mentions that several members of the linkshell actually vomited over the course of the battle.

Didn't they just try to brute force/zombie it down? IIRC, mages weren't affected by weakness until later in the games life, so a lot of early strats were to keep throwing bodies at it. The bright side is it exposed the people who refused to keep any kind of xp buffer once they hit 75.

It's most likely going to be a final fantasy 11 boss like pre patch absolute virtue. For as much as people talk about 14 bosses being tough, 11 had these unbelievably ridiculous boss fights where teams of guilds would have to collaborate on cooldown rotations to fight a boss over multiple days to have a chance of killing it, and even summoning the boss in the first place was probably a half day long activity to trigger all the conditions.

The funny thing is that early on, people weren't even supposed to kill them. They didn't even have loot tables at first. And my memory is hazy, but I think absolute virtue wasn't even a guaranteed and if he popped after killing another sea god, it was supposed to be a bad thing. This is all going off of what I remember reading on forums though. Didn't get sea access until they removed the level capped zones.

Joel knew what Ellie would have done, and that's all that matters in an argument about whether what he did was wrong.

I agree that he knew what she would have done, but I don't think is was as black and white about it being all that mattered. But I think he knew why she would choose that, which to me is an important distinction. I felt he did the right thing, but can get why others think he was wrong. But it seems some nuance isn't brought up, and it should be.

I feel there is a difference between saving somebody against their wishes when fully informed versus saving somebody against their wishes when they aren't.

It wasn't guilt over her fight with Joel, that was part of it, but ultimately it was her guilt over being alive. Why did I get bit and survive while humanity dies off? Why do people I love keep dying while I survive? Why am I completely ineffectual at stopping this? I couldn't save humanity, I couldn't save Joel, I couldn't save Jesse but I'm still here, when I should be dead. I should have been dead the moment I got bit but here I am.

That is why I hate this argument about the ending of the first game. Saying Joel robbed her of the choice of sacrificing herself. Of course she would have said yes because of survivors guilt. But the fireflies didn't even bother to ask her. She was unconscious after almost drowning in the bus and never woke up until Joel was driving away from her at the end.

Just don't think too hard about how your bones are all wet.

Story didn't grab me as much as the first one. Constantly wanted to yell at Ellie and Abby to let it go.

Combat pissed me off so much as well. Fighting humans felt like a vicious cycle. Shot by an arrow and knocked flat. Slowly get to my knees. Slowly get to my feet. Shot by an arrow and knocked flat. Repeat until dead.

I used to be neutral on him, until I paid attention to a story that happened like 10+ years ago. Anyway, long enough that my memory of what happened is hazy at best. What i remember is:

Think it was a Chicago area HS. Some kids get expelled for events at a football game. So Sharpton comes rolling into town, going all in how these poor kids were being punished because they were black. Maybe a week later, more details come out about the expelled kids. School had all kinds of receipts on them, the numerous warnings and suspensions they had gotten due to their behavior. They may have been warned that they weren't allowed to come to this game, that this was their last chance and expulsion was on the table. So they show up and start a mini-riot in the stands or something.

So of course, after a week of stoking tension in the area, the esteemed Mr. Sharpton slinks away without a word and pretends he was never there.

I hate when people give advice like "just work on your mouth game". Like, do they think we really have the confidence to put ourselves in a situation where another person will see us naked in the first place? Small dick jokes seem to be the only acceptable body appearance that is OK to make fun of.

They were never my site of choice, but it did seem to have echoes across multiple sites. The site that was my default did away with the download button around the same time. Think you still can if you are a verified user or something, but just having an account wasn't good enough anymore.

This is a different company than the original one, isn't it? I felt Deck 13 had a massive jump from Lords of the Fallen to The Surge, to The Surge 2. If they were working on this, I would hope it was a massive improvement. But I am kind of hesitant if this new one is the first soulslike game from this company. Personally, the combat system feeling smooth but with weight behind the attacks is a key fun factor in these types of games.

Put it like this. The OST was released in April 2010. There was an arrange/remix version released in December. A tribute album in Sept 2011. Piano arrangments of songs in March 2012. These were all released by Square-Enix. A Jazz remix version was also released in August 2013, but not by SE.

How often do you think game soundtracks get this kind of treatment. Reading to the end of the wiki article, I saw this.

The Addendum version of "Song of the Ancients" was played during the Parade of Nations of the 2020 Summer Olympics opening ceremony.

I linked a youtube video earlier, which is the opening movie. That is the type of music you can expect throughout the game.

Yo, automata question. Would watching the anime diminish the experience of playing the game when one plays it later?

I would think an anime adaptation of the first half of the game wouldn't have any real problems. Most of the wild WTF parts of it happen in the second half, which I think would be better to experience in the game first. This would be route C in the game, when Yorha announces it is time to begin the final assault on the robots once and for all. According to the game, this is when the real stuff starts. I mean, it isn't until you finish route B that the opening credits appear, making the first half of the game a prologue.

I think Automata may have been some people's introduction to the madness that is Yoko Taro and were surprised by the story beats in the game. Combat was also fun,especially if you had played other titles in the series in the past. They weren't terrible, but more as something I would call serviceable.

I also agree that I would have preferred Papa Nier over the brother in the remaster. I will say that Nier does win for the best opening dialogue in a game. Kaine's little monologue is something I would have never imagined when loading a game for the first time, then it busts into such a sweet soundtrack. Only bad thing is that some of the scenes it shows later could be considered spoilers.

I do know what you mean. The only one that bothered me was kind of manipulating Bill into the pills. But I also get it. Frank was dying and probably only had months, if not only weeks, to live. He wanted to end things on a high note vs deteriorating.

I think that is why they focused on the painting he was making. When they showed it, it was obvious that Frank's motor skills were getting to the point where he would shortly have none left. There is the point of not wanting to live like that, along with not wanting Bill to care for him like an infant by that point.

Started watching JoJo a few weeks ago. In the middle of the last season now.

I took it be more like him saying "I don't drink beer", then she hands him alcohol without telling him. But it has been a few weeks since I watched it.

Overall, I did really enjoy it. My main issue was the way the pacing of the season felt off. Like two huge story arcs, but they weren't split up evenly, so the second one seemed kind of rushed.

I know what you mean. In the game, Joel goes to find Bill, talks to him, and leaves with a working car. In this, Joel goes to find Bill, doesn't talk to him, and leaves with a working car. I can't handle such a massive deviation.

If you consider Conan type movies to be dark fantasy, then yes. There were a lot of sword and sorcery movies put out in the 80's.

I've really only heard the "unalive" thing in regards to suicide. Seems to either be a trigger warning thing or to avoid an auto-bot reply to using the word suicide.
