Even under normal circumstances, low-lying areas down here flood in a heartbeat. We tend to get a ton of rain in a short amount of time, and the sandy soil just can't soak it up fast enough.

Personally I don't trust anyone who isn't deep-down at least slightly conflicted on the issue. A unborn child deserves the right to be born. A woman deserves the right to body autonomy. These are two rights that are forever at odds, and barring some future miracle of medical technology, the will remain just as irreconcilable and controversial fifty years from now as they were fifty years ago.

However, pro-choice means exactly that: you support the right to choose. My personal opinions on the act of abortion are conflicted, yet I fully recognize and support the fact that I do not and should not have a say in the matter, especially from a legal standpoint. That decision is between a woman, her god, her physician, and maybe her significant other. It most certainly does not involve some backwater lawmaker who wouldn't know a fallopian tube from a garden hose.

I'm cautiously optimistic, since it has two things going for it:
1) historically the odd-numbered entries are great; the evens no so much
2) it has at least one Nazi as a villain, which is one of the main ingredients for a good Indy movie

It's pretty clear that someone on the FF X / X-2 team was the original creator of the 'petrify' status ailment, felt that it was grossly underpowered in previous games, and saw X / X-2 as a chance to finally inflict their bitter vengeance upon the gaming populace.

I was going to drop this on my end because you're arguing in circles at this point, but in the quoted instance you yourself played right into the very generalization that unfairly hamstrings animation. Live-action film as a media is bloated with low-brow chaff and family-friendly mass appeal as well. Is high-art live-action cinema somehow lessened because Transformers movies also exist?

IMO they should have leaned into the "Mog is Umaro's boss" thing and make it so Umaro is an uncontrollable berserker when Mog isn't in the party, but when they're in the same party he's controllable and can use magic and items and whatnot.

Kind of like how Steiner, while already good in his own right, became much more good when he was partied with Vivi and had his magic sword attacks.

That's a really good point, I never thought of that. They probably just wrote off developing Umaro further by virtue of him being a 'secret' character. I mean, Gogo's just a repurposed FF 5 boss after all.

To the first point, she could use a character makeover, and I'm crossing my fingers this movie will deliver. There's some potential there, but she was just too dry in her first movie + IW / Endgame. Not singling her out, either - MCU Cap wasn't Cap as we know him today until Winter Soldier, and both the character and the franchise as a whole benefitted from it.

To the second, you're right; I think we all know that Brie Larson could spend the first 20 minutes of the movie giving a tearful mea culpa over how badly she offended the moviegoing masses by daring to be outspoken in like two interviews - while also proclaiming the Quartering guy to be sexiest man alive - and it wouldn't make a dent in changing those particular minds.

Probably at least twice as big, lol. But if they were going to make a minifig-friendly Eiffel Tower, they would probably just play around with the proportions so that the viewing deck was much bigger.

Normally I'd agree, but then again, I just dropped 500 frickin' bucks on Rivendell, so my standards of frugality have taken a nosedive lately.

My only barrier for entry with these pricey sets is they have to be minifig-scale, I'm personally not interested in microscale / model sets. So the Eiffel Tower set was never on my radar (though I guess you could conceivably alter the top / balcony to accomodate minifigs without throwing the scale off terribly).

A bunch of rich people's kids spend money to go to some amazing music festival but ended up in the Ja Rulags.

If IH's vid is accurate, most of the attendees were regular folk duped by promises of a luxurious getaway at rock-bottom prices, and there's no evidence of people spending 6 figures to attend like some media outlets reported.

Incidentally, I recently came to the realization that Christopher Lee and James Coburn are randomly on the Band on the Run album art (like they just happened to be in the area at the time and Paul wanted some buddies to play the prison gang), and I find that very cool.

A few Wings songs are genuinely great (my personal favorite is "Let Me Roll It."). About half of them fall into the category of "I know this is silly / stupid, but dammit I still like it." And a few are "I know this is silly / stupid and I want to destroy it with fire."

I took a few film studies classes in college, and it opened me up to an appreciation of analyzing artful films. Still, when it comes to movies I seek out for a rewatch, I almost always gravitate towards entertainment over high art. Pierrot le Fou is in my personal top-five because I have very fond memories of watching a French New Wave film that somehow possessed the magical quality of being both deeply artful and entertaining...but I've only ever rewatched it once, maybe twice, even though I went out of my way to track down the Criterion DVD when it finally came out.

That's good to hear. I only looked for a small handful of my personal favorites, and acknowledged that I was probably missing more once I saw that Wall-E was indeed on this list.
