He's exceptionally talented at his particular brand of comedy, which is playing the borderline-douchey yet ultimately loveable dope. But after he lost weight and became a stud, apparently he became more marketable as a bland action lead. This is why I'm open to him voicing Mario; I liked Pratt well enough as Emmet in The Lego Movie, and movie-Mario will probably end up being a similar character (the fish out of water who grows into the hero role after getting his ass repeatedly handed to him for the first half of the movie).

I still think he would have made a good Indiana Jones, had they decided to reboot the franchise (not strictly by imitating Harrison Ford, but by bringing his own brand of action / humor to the role and letting the reboot evolve around that). But that ship has all but sailed at this point, now that 'Chris Pratt is in every role' has long since reached meme status.

I am kinda hoping that both parties agree to prosecute. By now, DeSantis probably hates Trump as much as Democrats do.

The Republican Party explicitly throwing Trump under the bus like that would be them tacitly admitting fault that they ever supported him in the first place, and we all know how well the GOP handles admitting fault. As much as some of them might hate him and want him gone privately, they can't afford to damage the GOP's reputation (at least in the eyes of their own voting base) by publicly popping the bubble on Trump's cult of personality. It's why the GOP is unanimously tripping over themselves in a mad leap to his defense by trying to paint the indictment as a political witch-hunt, even as they're trying their best to quietly push him aside in favor of DeSantis.

Let me amend a post I made in the other topic to further drive my point home: DeSantis could be feuding with Weyland Yutani, Umbrella Corp, and the ShinRa Electric Company all at once, and I would still find it very difficult to take DeSantis' side.

Ehhhhhh...book-Scott was dopey, jock-ish*, and a bit of a ladykiller. Michael Cera really only got 1 out of 3 here. I think most people (myself included) were mostly just miffed at the predictability of the casting, as in Michael Cera was apparently the only 20-something Canadian actor in the world, regardless of how well he actually fit the role.

*All these years later I'm still struggling to come up with a better way to describe book-Scotts physical build / status than 'jock-ish.' But whatever book-Scott is in this regard, skinny, dweeby Michael Cera ain't. He didn't have to look the part exactly, but it's tough to buy that Cera's Scott could so effortlessly stumble into relationships with girls like Envy and Knives.

I can't help but feel I would have enjoyed the movie more if they picked a different lead actor. Michael Cera, imo, is so insufferable as an actor in general. Plays the goddamn same character in almost every movie he stars in.

I'm hoping that my misgivings with certain casting choices will be at least minimized by them simply providing the voices and not being onscreen.

I'm guessing this is a more faithful / in-depth adaptation, since the movie had to cut / truncate a ton of the plot to make time. Wouldn't make sense to bring back the 7 Evil Ex VAs for a sequel / spinoff, since they've all been the Scott Pilgrim-verse equivalent of killed at this point. Could also be a prequel, but that would be awkward as well, since the Scott / Kim / Envy side of the story would be entirely separate from the Ramona / Gideon / Exes story.

Tbf, in universe the last 7 seasons have all been like in the same couple months. And they weren't in the same country for like half of them, from what I remember.

I stopped watching after s4; whatever lightning in a bottle they caught that made s3 so surprisingly good, it was pretty clear that they weren't going to recapture it anytime soon. And even then it was fairly clear that they were going to pad out Yang and Blake officially becoming an item until long past the point that most people would care about it.

True, but I was speaking more in the broader sense. If you don't have enough stamina, you can go around, or climb high enough up the nearby cliff to glide to the other side, or cook up a stamina potion, or come back later when you have more stamina, etc. My point was that the devs engineering a scenario where you had no other option to cross the lake but to build a makeshift airboat would go completely against the spirit of the original game, and I can reasonably assume that they are well aware of this; thus, lego'ing together vehicles in TotK will almost assuredly be optional.

This. My take is that even the devs were surprised by how much the fanbase enjoyed exploiting the physics engine via wild ability combos and trick shots, so they want to offer some more robust options in the sequel. But I wouldn't count on any forced GTA-style tutorials or missions requiring complex vehicle building, outside of maybe a rare shrine-style puzzle. Your average gamer isn't going to have the patience or inclination to lego together even the raft shown in the gameplay teaser, and I have faith that the devs are aware of this; and despite what Aonuma said, you most certainly can swim across the lake instead if you wanted to.

Honestly don't think we will ever get a old style 3D Zelda again.

That doesn't mean BotW will be the new format for the next game but I expect the "open air" format to stick around.

Nothing would make me happier than to see future Zelda games veer more closely to the BotW format over the tired-ass "traditional" Zelda (or even try out some wildly-different format).

I have to say that I appreciate being in the goldilocks zone here where I actually liked and appreciated how BotW approached weapon durability, but I'm not exactly married to the mechanic. So it's funny to watch people spend years bitching up a storm about it, convincing themselves it's a dealbreaker, etc, especially now, considering they clearly didn't bitch hard enough to get it removed from TotK. On the other hand, if they do end up walking back on it in future Zelda games (probably likely, regardless of fan input), I won't shed a tear over its removal, because it's very much intrinsic to BotW's specific design and definitely wouldn't fit in a "traditional" Zelda title.

I think we've reached the point where the limitless hot air Russia has for blustering to the world officially qualifies as a renewable energy resource.
