How do you possibly follow-up one of the best video game stories? The answer is Lost Judgment. Now I'm gonna get it out of the way and say that Judgment still has the better story but considering how the first game wrapped up it's entire story arc, it was a challenge from the get go for the sequel to follow-up with something just as incredible yet completely original. I thought Lost Judgment did a more than admirable job and in certain cases even did somethings like the overall pacing better than the previous game.

Kuwana is an excellent antagonist. His motives are completely believable, relatable and he's not just someone who is completely irredeemably evil and a completely different beast than Kuroiwa (who is excellent in his own right). He makes the player empathize with towards his brand of justice and it is that dynamic between him and Yagami that makes the finale truly feel epic with Yagami questioning his own moral compass and sense of justice. The only thing I would have liked for the main game to cut back a little on was the RK plotline and them basically being the main villains. Soma is cool (probably my favorite boss fight in the two games) but the rest of the RK members felt very much like jobbers.

The story of Lost Judgment may not overall have reached Judgment's heights but it is nonetheless one of RGG's best stories.

I retract a statement I made a while back when I said 13 Sentinels is the best story I have experienced in a while. That distinction goes to Judgment without any dispute now that I have finished this game about a month or so back.

Despite being a huge fan of the Yakuza games, It admittedly took me much longer than I should have, to get to finally playing RGG's spin-off series to its beloved Yakuza franchise. I approached the game with a great deal of scepticism with the assumption that it was likely a shoe horned entry riding on the coattails of Yakuza like most spin-offs do in their respective series. And how can Kamurocho possibly be the same, playing as a what I presumed at the time to be a low stake story of a small time Lawyer/Detective instead of the Dragon of Dojima or the Mad Dog of Shimano or even a rookie Yakuza looking to climb the ranks of the Tojo. I stand corrected and admit I made a judgment (*wink) far too prematurely.

What I got was part Yakuza, part Ace Attorney, part Shenmue on steroids. I admit the beginning chapters were quite slow but once the story got going, it made me experience a wave of emotions that only great storytelling can effortlessly do so, like Judgment has. The characters make you feel for them. The story puts you on the edge of your seat. The mysteries and revelations of the overarching plot makes you wanna know what happens next.

Judgment is the real deal and the whole package when it comes to great story telling. It is also the best RGG story in my opinion and I hold them in the highest esteem when it comes to storytelling and character interaction in video games. I'm not gonna discuss the issues I had with the gameplay and certain things being unnecessarily padded out in the first Judgment game thankfully, because this a topic for story only. I'm gonna end the post by saying Judgment is just an incredible story that far surpassed my expectations and throughly deserves to be reconigzed as one of the best video game stories ever.

Bayo 1 had a great story and character. It was silly and ridiculous but still, it was good for its purpose. 2's story kinda missed what made 1's so fun, which definitely made the game overall less fun.

Luka was really annoying in Bayonetta 1 and I dislike the little Cereza plot arc. Bayonetta 2 gave Luka far less screen time but then introduced someone worse, Loki.

Yeah, story and characters really aren't Bayonetta's strong suit but at least 2 tones down the serious moments (which were very awkward and cringey in 1) and fully embraces the ridiculous tone of what compliments such a over the top action game.

And also really lmao at the people using DMC3 and MGRising as examples of great stories. I'm the biggest fan of DMC3. It is a Top 50 game for me from a pool of well over 1000 games that I have beaten, and I wouldn't call that game's storyline anything more than serviceable at best. Hell it doesn't even have the best story in the series. I think that distinction goes to either DMC1 or DMC5 (which again neither are anywhere close to an example of a great story).

Then we have Memetal Gear Ridonk: Rising Jetstream Armstrong Senator Revengeance. I guess the people who say the story is great here are the same people who rate Zero Wing 10/10 in the story department. Very good action game though.

Yeah, it's fine that you think that, but it doesn't match the common public opinion at all.

The common public opinion is largely skewed by the producer (or whoever modelled Dante after him) pissing the fanbase off before the game even came out. Same way how so many people hate The Last of Us Part II without even playing it. Not saying the game has a great story by any stretch but the bar is already as low as it can be with these type of Action games.

Yeah I don't agree with this. DMC3 and MGR were much better experiences due to some strong story elements, and DmC was largely derided because of its story. It matters to people.

DmC is derided because the producer or whatever modelled Dante after him. The story is actually not any worse than DMC 4 and the game can be fun on a casual playthrough. The combat however is not as deep and the game is brain dead easy even on the harder difficulties.

Oh wait this just in, a news was reported that a stunt actor reportedly broke a foot while performing a motion capture stunt during the game's development because Platinum studio failed to wipe a wet floor in the vicinity.

Not like Bayonetta 1 or 2 had anywhere close to a stellar story. The games have serviceable stories at besst for the sake of moving the plot along to the action. The combat, atmosphere and bosses are easily the main draw for these kinds of games. Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, Onimusha, none of these games have amazing storylines but they are the best games in the genre because of the awesome combat.

Reviews are certainly not very good but better than expected for a Star Ocean game.

I'll give this a shot for 10 hours to see if it is worth playing. SO4 and 5 both made me quit by that time so let's see if things are different this time.

We must be scrapping the bottom of the barrel when we are getting two Ass ass in Creed games in a row.

Excellent gameplay but half-assed unfinished story.

Still a great game but could have been one of the best ever if it had storytelling anywhere close to 1-4.

Literally the first post in that shit show of a topic about the Voice Actor's shameless attempt at sabotaging a game that people have been waiting for ages. For her to air whatever dirty laundry, whether it was true or not in that manner was just tasteless. And the fact that there are so many claims about it being false makes her look like a complete doofus.

Overworld theme of Terranigma deserves recognition. One of the best of its era alongside the Final Fantasy games and Lufia II.

Story is pretty good for JRPGs of its time but I wouldn't say it is anything exceptional. The exploration, atmosphere, combat and the game's own spin on time travel makes this a very good JRPG of its era.
