FEED ME SAND!

Dream is trapped in a magical Tamagotchi! Or at least that is what Bloodfruit and Brennus thought. And since Bloodfruit wants to find Dream and is siblings he is desperate to help. So you get the comical sequence of MORFIUS demanding sand, Brennus yelling for Bloodfruit to feed him sand, and Bloodfruit desperately feeding him sand. This could happen at any time and its hilarious.

Of course it turns out this isn'\t a trapped Dream but instead a shady toy made by Toyman to steal people's information. Unfortunately for it/Toyman the device ended up in the hands of a Fae who has none of hte information it is designed to collect. So the device would ask random questions like Bloodfruit's mother's maiden name, or street address, first school, etc. And Bloodfruit, having none of these answer but wanting to help Dream, would just give him nonsense answers. Honestly this is the funniest part to me.

Eventually this was noticed by others and the jig was up. They took the device to The Thinker who confirmed its origins and purpose and turned it into a normal toy again. Or at least that is what he said, but apparently none of the players thought about the fact that Thinker can't fully be trusted and there is a real chance the device now spies on them for Thinker instead. Whether or not it is now just a normal toy, Bloodfruit still carries it with him and feeds it sand, partly because its still a nice little toy and partly just in case it really is Dream. You can't be to careful you know?

37 Parademon K'Ray

Cody and I agree on the lowest Secret Six member to rank at least.

Previously just another nameless Parademon working for Darksied, his mind controlling antennae was damaged in battle and the party discovered there is a regular sentient being left behind. He was taken by the Secret Six, a team of villains who are allies of the ZZ, and tortured. Then the Secret Six were betrayed and K'Ray ended up helping them out and eventually joining their ranks. Some people would have held the torture against them but not K'Ray, his old boss was way worse after all.

K'Ray is now a pretty big personality and best friends with Secret Six member Ragman. He flies Ragman around and probably hurts the masochistic villain on request. Ragman's a weird dude but he and the Parademon seem to mesh well.

Presumably he also had some good info on Darkseid's forces to share but I don't remember if anything important came from it.

Honestly I wish I remembered more about the K'Ray write-ups because I don't feel like I am doing the big guy justice here, I just remember really liking him.

38. Radio Tuner

So I think Scare may be the only one who was part of this and UCA, B8s old wrestling fed, but one of my most successful gimmicks in that fed was the Avatar of Chaos. A lover of randomness and mayhem. This gimmick was created because of my love of an unusual championship called Melee Mayhem where the type of match was randomly decided on the day of the event. The title could be won or lost based entirely on luck. I loved the craziness of it.

Radio Tuner reminds me of that. This little sentient iPod with a broken screen brings an element of chaos and randomness into any fight it is part of. When Radio Tuner plays music, things happen. Its nearly infinite playlist brings a host of effects into battle, some of them vey helpful, some of them detrimental. Some, like laser eyes, seem helpful but then they launch a party member through the sky as they cry out in betrayal!

Its a really crazy and fun twist that makes everyone remember that they are playing a fun game where anything can happen and silliness is not only okay but often encouraged.

A living magical iPod with reality warping abilities is just a crazy and amazing concept. Add in that it was made by a party members sister as part of a time loop (which means poor Radio Tuner may have never not had a broken screen) and Radio Tuner makes it clear that sometimes you just shouldn't think to hard about how things work lol.

I love it and would use it every battle I could, regardless of the results.

Also if it isn't already on the list I once again request that "You Got the Touch" by Stan Bush be added to the playlist and given a great power up. An 80s power ballad written as literal powerup music for the Transformers movie would just be so epic to have kick on during a battle.

Maniac Hint #37: The first Secret Six member to appear in my ranking

Anyway, she gave us the message of a couple of numbers and "Bring a Rainbow Brigade". The numbers refered to a sector in space: where Rann is. We guessed Rainbow Brigade was Lantern Corps.

That's the prophesy I was thinking of! I guess it was less a prophesy and more vague instructions.

My original hint was saying I wasn't sure they were actually eligible but that seemed obvious lol.

Honestly if order of events is the only wrong thing in that writeup I will consider it a big success.

39. Trish Mckenzie

Fields naturally considers her like family because she is of course his sister! Also good friends with the already ranked Barbara Gordon. Trish is a character who is 100% original to the campaign. And while she likely started as mostly a hook for Fields she has become a very important character to the story. She was thought to have been killed between campaigns but in actually she was infected with The Bleed which I guess somehow makes it so that the multiverse is in her veins. I believe this had something to do with Reverse-Flash and his time travel speed force shenanigans/schemes. I think this also ties in to the seven colors prophesy that gets mentioned at times. Either way the party had to try and rescue her from the bleed which meant choosing between a multiverse of Trish's because the original was not an option. They eventually settled on Trish Luther, a version raised by Lex Luthor with all the brilliance and cunning that comes with that, and likely a limited amount of morality.

Even before that though Trish was a brilliant inventor. She created the speech box for Patch making it so that Patch could talk to everyone and not just Artemis. This is an objectively great thing ot have happened. She also is the one who created Radio Tuner, the delightful living iPod. In an apparent time loop Lush went back in time and gave Trish a broken Radio Tuner hoping she could fix him. She had never seen him before but managed to make the repairs, and in her timeline she then went on to make the original Radio Tuner and give it to the party. Time travel makes my head hurt.

Trish is currently riding on board the Hogwarts Express, excuse me I mean the Story Line, as she seems to be tied into a lot of the bigger and more mysterious storylines in the campaign. Her accomplishments are great and her presence is all over the place. Any time Trish is involved in a story you know it is going to be good, whether its simple fine with Fields and Oracle or multiversal universe altering stuff. Quite the resume for a character with no presence in the real DC universe.

40. Ferdinand

The Minotaur (but not called a minotaur) chef of ZZ and formerly Wonder Woman. Ferdinand got brought to Z'onn Z'orr while Lush was the main cook, but when she was gone for a while on a mission he just took over the kitchen and had no desire to give it back. A kitchen battle was clearly the best way to solve this so both characters picked a sous chef and had a cook off, Kitchen Stadium style. Ferdinand teamed with everyone's favorite animal Data-7 who helped cheat on his behalf (and presumably without his knowledge). He might well have won but he ended up feeling sorry for Lush and intentionally left out a key ingredient so that she could win and be head of the kitchen again. Ferdiand still works in the kitchen either way and with Lush often going on missions probably has the run of the place a fair amount of the time, only now the two of them get along much better. Plus with the ever increasing number of people at the base I imagine having more than one cook is likely necessary anyway. The image of a big ol' bull person running a ktichen is just a really fun one and shows what an eclectic and unusual place Z'onn Z'orr is.

There are also some notable non-cooking related moments. When Pasiphae got brought back by Kid Eternity she was introduced to Ferdinand, with the thought being that she would feel better seeing a minotaur doing well and living life. Except that Ferdinand is apparently not quite a minotaur and actually hates Pasiphae's descendants. Oops. However they eventually talked it out and managed to at least not hate each other. Another failed noble deed for the party.

And of course the party eventually learned that Wonder Woman had become the lead Fury for Darkseid. When this news was brought to Ferdinand he was distraught. Lush token him to a location where no one else was around so he could bellow and bull rush objects until he had worked through his emotions. Its a very sad scene to imagine really.

Overall Ferdinand could easily be a simple joke character (bull in the kitchen) but ends up being pretty deep with some very strong story beats when he gets the chance.

41. Dewormer

Almost had the same character ranked on the same day.

I like to imagine Dewormer sounding like a Claptrap with the attitude of Marvin the Paranoid Android.

This little worker bot was designed to find food, but somehow turn depressed. Brennus, helpful kid that he is, tried to help cheer him up but instead made him suicidal. In a panic they managed to shut him off or reset him and Brennus tried again. Again Dewormer was driven to kill itself. Repeat many times and you have a scenario that is super dark but is also absolutely hilarious. Imagining poor Brennus determined to help the little guy out only for him to repeatedly and with increased speed wind up trying to kill itself, and poor Brennus panicking as he stops him and starts over again. No matter what he tried it always led to the same destination. Its just such a crazy scene to imagine and I feel like I can easily picture it. I would just be laughing watching the player try and fail again and again in a comedic montage. Great stuff.

But what really bumps him up the list is that this was not Dewormer's only role in the story. No no, when Kobra betrayed the party and invaded Z'onn Z'orr he did so with an army of Dewormer robots. Suddenly everyone is fighting for their lives against the previously comedic little bot. Just terrifying and another great visual. I like to imagine that at least one Dewormer during the attack confronted Brennus and just out of nowhere got the irresistible urge to kill itself.

Maniac Hint #40: Has a job in Z'onn Z'orr

42. Blackbriar Thorn

A giant and ancient tree man of incredible magical powers. Blackbriar Thorn is a powerful druid, something i have enjoyed stories of in the past, who has chosen one Soarise as his chosen one. Which sounds great but it turns out Blackbriar is the "deal with the devil" type who loves making deals that both help and hurt you. In exchange for power and a companion in Voldemort's wand given sentience and named Twiggy, Saorise just had to give up family and any hope of successful relationships. Honestly sounds like a real bad deal to me.

Blackbriar Thorn controls DC's version of the Celtic druidic realm Brucke Der Dunan which I am familiar with from the Iron Druid book series. Saorise has been chosen to be a princess there or something like that. Unfortunately when the party traveled there for an event Spectre showed up. Blackbriar proved how strong he is when he managed to actually put up a fight against the god of vengeance but ultimately he was killed. Or was he.

Apparently Blackbriar has a deal with the Morrigan because he keeps coming back from the dead, and sure enough it seems to be happening again, though slowly. When twiggy was broken Lush was able to use some magic to visit him and he offered her a deal of her own. She could free Saorise of her cursed fate, potentially opening up the door to a happy relationship ending for them or at least for her bff, but she would lose Twiggy forever, who has become her closest companion. Or he could heal Twiggy and lock Saorise into her fate once again. Lush was not allowed to check with Saorise and made the dark choice to heal their friend Twiggy at the cost of her bff's freedom, and Saorise would only know what happened if Lush told her afterwards. Lush chose to save Twiggy, and I don't think she has told Saorise about exactly what happened with BT. It was probably the right choice but it is still a fun dilemma that the tree druid created. He is a very interesting character who can be a great ally but at a cost.

I really don't remember asking any questions in that post.

I said I wished it would matter but I knew it wouldn't and would just mean more people moving out of the state.

Haha oh man comics are crazy.

Iowa Republicans are moving to pass a law banning gender affirming care before the person is 18 and prosecute doctors who do anything to help.

I wish I could believe all these horrible decisions will push us back to center but it will probably just make more people leave the state instead and Iowa will continue to slowly die.

43. Snapper Carr

Snapper is the Justice League's mascot apparently. He has the incredibly useful ability to teleport himself and other people. This ability is really key for the party as it is there main means of getting to their mission locations. His skill is so important that when he disappeared once due to overuse of his power causing him to mess up, the 'heroes' had to go and kill poor Multi Man repeatedly until he gained teleportation powers.

Snapper is a wise cracking guy who often has funny jokes or comments when the party meets up with him for teleportation. Seems like just a very fun character to be around.

And of course there is also the fact that Snapper is currently dating Lush in a the healthiest toxic relationship ever. Snapper cheated on her with Cheetah when he thought he might be doomed (but hey, Lush has cheated with Saorise and herself so...). He also is still married to another woman because Snapper's way of ending relationships is just to teleport away and never talk to the person again, which also makes him an asshole. Everyone better hope he and Lush never break up or they are going to need to go find Multi Man again.

Maniac Hint #42: This character died

Wow they are really changing some things up in this arc. Still really good so I'm not upset about it but some of these changes are huge and I'm curious how they will change things.

44. Fright

Fright was a villainess who somehow lost her got mindwiped to where she no longer had any emotions and barely spoke. She was brought back to ZZ and locked up in the cells. Bloodfruit was determined to help her so he used a special item on her to grant her a leadership skill in hopes of that sparking something in her.

It basically backfired and while her personality stayed the same other inmates were now drawn to follow her and started repeating her single line of dialogue (which I can no longer remember). But our PCs are not easily deterred when they are making things worse in attempts to help someone! So next he used some Star Sapphire magic to give Fright back at least one emotion, Love. So now Fright is in love with the concept of fear, and wants to make the entire world experience fear. So good job Bloodfruit, you've made Fright back into a supervillain. Oh and did I mention that Fright has the ability to make people scared by exhaling fear toxin or something like that? So yeah she is ready and able to make a whole lot of people scared if she ever gets out.

And I still think she should get a Yellow Lantern ring.

Maniac Hint #43: This character has slept with a PC

I'm fine with you not loving CG, I didnt have high expections so it went better than I expected honestly. I was right about you enjoying Bofuri and that is more important lol.

I still haven't watched Re:surrection so I have no opinion on that front.

45. Cheetah / Barbara Ann Minerva / Lioness

Cheetah is a cat lady with a ton of confidence, a reckless attitude, and and the ability to piss people off. Except for Snapper Carr who clearly liked her just fine >_>

Cheetah got injured rushing into danger without backup. Hooked up with Snapper in Atlanta after his powers acted up and he went MIA. Oh yeah, and she stole the Lion Spirit from Catman because she had lost her normal powers and wanted a new feline power boost. That one is the worst IMO given that Catman was being offered it from his deceased best lion friend Hector.

The most interesting thing to me is the dichotomy of Cheetah and Barbara Ann Minerva. Both versions got a ranking that basically treated them as separate characters, which I think shows just how different they are. Where Cheetah is uber confident and headstrong, Barbara is a coward and more of an intellectual. That difference between the powered and non-powered version is really interesting to me. It seems most the players would prefer she stay as Barbara but clearly Barbara herself disagrees, as she went to great lengths to get back her powers, and when that wasn't possible she grabbed the first alternative that presented itself. Must be hard to prefer the version of yourself that most people hate, though its hard to feel too sorry for her when she gives everyone plenty of good reasons to hate her.

46. Oracle (Barbara Gordon)

The original Batgirl, who survived a gun shot from Joker and became the ultimate superhero support character. She was the head of the Campaign 1 teams, the central figure of that campaign in many ways. But now they have left Gotham behind while Barbara has chosen to stay and continue fighting for her beloved city alongside Nightwing and DentBatman.

For me the most interesting stuff to hear about is how this tech savvy and focused hero has been forced to abandon her strongest tools and adapt now that Darkseid has corrupted TV and technology with the ALE. Its clear this would be a huge blow to the wheelchair bound superheroine, forcing her to complete change her methods once again, just like she did after being paralyzed. Hearing about her breaking down with Nightwing was a powerful scene to read about, but stories of her using go pro's mounted on Harley Quinn's hyenas shows that she will once again not be stopped from helping out her fellow Gotham heroes. Its to bad she hasn't had as much time in the new campaign but the impact she made on everyone in C1 is clear and the time she does get always sounds interesting.

Maniac Hint #45: This character is a thief

Oh yeah for sure, i would expect our top 20s to largely be on both lists. But I was curious how far before the first overlap happened.

And man I can't believe I forgot to mention the Big Troubles part. Vicky being offered a spot in an otherwise all animal team was hilarious.

Much like Tomorrow Woman, this is a character probably hurt by the order of the rankings. I was definitely higher on her after her #1 place writeup. Now I mostly remember her for the drama with the Pepper/Tracy/Jaime love triangle which ended with her blowing it up by having Misty channel Star Sapphire and kiss Jaime in front of Pepper. A real 'if I can't have him neither can you'. But hey at least that ended up working out I guess?

Luckily there was a bit of a refresher in Scare's topic discussing how her scheming isn't just limited to teen romance. She also is looking to rise up the ranks in ZZ and Checkmate. She is a teenage mage who wants to be the leader of the new generation of magic (assuming it survives The Spectre's wrath) and be a real power player in the Darkseid resistance. She is very close with Saorise and they have a sisterly relationship, with both being protective of the other.

Maniac Hint 46: Had a significant role in Campaign 1

Usually when someone is talking about a character in Geass being the worst ever it's about Nina. I'll admit I did not expect this level of hatred for him.

The Robin to Knight's Batman. She lives in London and any mention of her includes her infectiously positive and cheery personality. She seems like an absolute delight and the kind of person who would be great to have around, espeically in a dark and serious time like this campaign takes place in. Talk about a needed breath of fresh air.

This is a character I can definitely tell I would love. Plus naming all her stuff after squire is legit funnier than bat/robin. Squirecycle, Squirerangs, etc
