I'd say it depends on how the market is trending in your area. In Phoenix, rents have been blowing up for many years so I bought my 3 bedroom townhouse in 2018 qualifying for it in my name/assets only. I was house poor for the first bit but have gotten higher paying work since then so I've been sitting pretty for the last couple years. I rent the extra space out to my brother for halfsies so I live more comfortably while paying less than a 1 BR would cost.

If you're in the dating market, being able to put 'homeowner' on your profile is also a nice flex that gets you more attention.

I feel like D&D and derivatives hit the sweet spot where a +1 bonus isn't busted by any stretch but is still an appreciable bump (for example if you're at a 50% chance to hit, or get a save, or pass a DC before the upgrade, then you're up to 55% chance which in relative terms is 10% more than you were getting before).

So anything less than that definitely feels underwhelming.

I've always wanted to ask what the heck this service was, same as Redbox if I remember the term right. I've read the description and had people post several times and I still can't wrap my head around it in a "people pay for this?" sort of way. I also don't live in the US so have never been able to try this and see what it was firsthand.

You paid a monthly subscription just like now but you just ordered DVDs to be mailed to your house through the website. There were different subscription tiers that determined how many DVDs you could have out at any one time. So, you could keep a DVD as long as you wanted but would have to send it back if you wanted to free one of your 'slots' up to be able to request another one.
