I'm pretty burned out on 80's nostalgia, but Huntdown was a breath of fresh air. It's an excellent Contra clone where every stage has a ton of little details, and all the enemies and bosses have so much personality. There's a ton of weapons, killing enemies always feels incredibly satisfying, and the soundtrack rocks so hard. If you liked Blazing Chrome, you gotta check out Huntdown.

| TomNook7 11/01/23 8:52:29 PM #1 | Not underrated, but underplayed. Like not enough people played them, or they flew under the radar. There's so many releases these days it's hard to keep track of everything.
I really liked a game called Later Alligator. It's an adventure / puzzle / visual novel where every single character is an alligator, and you go around Alligator New York City and do alligator things. It's visual style was so unique and beautiful, and it had great music to go along with it, and it's something that really stuck with me throughout the years. Hypnospace Outlaw is dope too. You play as the internet police, and you have to go around moderating 90's geocities pages. It's so unique and hilarious, I love it. From the sounds of it it seems like most games on this console are like that. A showcase of what they could do but no one actually doing it. When it comes to the crank, unfortunately yeah. Crankin seems to be the only game that actually uses the crank to truly innovative effect so far. I like Pick Pack Pup and Gun Trails, but those are crankless. Another thing Id like to say about Whitewater is I appreciate how easy it is to jump in and play. Thats the main draw for me. Thats how Gameboy games were, and all the best Playdate games are like that so far. It can be an addictive little high score chaser, and its a cool showcase for what the crank can do. It achieves exactly what it sets out to do, and thats more than you can say for half the games on that list

Not to mention a level 30 character joins you when youre still level 10, and i expected him to either die or become a bad guy, but nope, he just stays there for ten hours of gameplay and makes combat trivial --- I'm the original TomNook7 from the old days. Jackal on NES - awesome co-op game where youre two bad dudes in a jeep Another Centurys Episode - japanese game on ps2 thats like a mech franchise crossover game. Made by Fromsoft and plays like Zone of the Enders. Features gundam, armored core, super robot wars, and something called brain dead or something. Ive only played the first game in the series so far, and its aight Communist Mutants from Space - a game on the atari starpath super charger. It runs on casette tape, so you have to hook up a cassette player to your starpath, which then plugs into your atari 2600. The game kinda sucks, but everything about it is so weird/crazy i dont care And still playing Grandia. Just got to the scene with Justin and Feena on the beach. Love these characters, and the battle system is great, but the never ending dungeons are a bit of a slog --- I'm the original TomNook7 from the old days. The other guy is just TomNook. You would not be happy with a faithful remake. The original gameplay and script are ass. It had to be updated. Hard disagree, and half this post makes no sense - the shitty new stuff wasnt emotionally faithful to anything other than other shitty ff7 spinoffs like Advent Children or Dirge of Cerberus Like Ill admit there was a bunch of old stuff in the remake that sparked old emotions. When I first got to Tifas bar, and the music kicked in, I got a little choked up. But then the ghosts showed up, cluttered up the whole scene, and completely took me out of the experience And this game didnt NEED action combat. I dont know why everyone thinks about FF.
