They balanced these weapons like its a professional level fighting game

Yesh i was using the tonitrus before i found the pizza cutter. Its like on one hand i miss builds, but on the other hand experimenting with every weapon is s blast. Almost feels like monster hunter in that way

I actually dont fully understand how the chalice dungeons work lol. I have a ton of chalice items but im scared to waste them or do something wrong because i know these are related to the platinum tropht. so i just have one dungeon open right now

I really feel like Father Gascoignes theme is masteclass vgm. Its so relentlessly angry and oppressive, and it fits his lore perfectly. Its also a perfect introduction for the player like welcome to bloodborne - this is what it means to be a hunter

I guess the +1 damage they got from leveling up, increasing their damage from 250 to 251, was really important.

lmao. Yeah i dont grind in these games. If i hit a wall, i move on to another area and come back later. Darkbeast paarl is my wall right now, but i havent fought him in a while, and i did find a bolt resistant item, so i might be ready

Last night i beat Shadows of Yharnam and Vacuous Rom. I spend a lot of time just being lost and not knowing where to go. Or tracking down npc quests that have seemingly vanished forever. The hardest part about this game is figuring out what to do next lol

2Low Insight gives higher Frenzy resistance, which will make certain areas of the game MUCH less frustrating. Low insight also gives higher Beasthood, which will increase the damage from your Beastblood Pellet buff, and make the meter longer, so that it doesn't run out as quickly.

good to know actually. I actually did start to feel like the pellets werent as effective as they were in the beginning. And i also noticed the white mask dudes around the cathedral are changing. Their lamps have eyes now, which is such a cool touch. Im guessing thats cause of my high insight, and its such a cool touch / game mechanic

How do you get rid of insight? Summon and npc and die over and over?

Witch of Hemwick down. I tried to rush and focus solely on the witches, but the mobs kept clusterfucking me. Found it easier to just deal with the mobs one at a time and slowly work on the witches

also found the dlc area, but everything curb stomps me

So yeah I found out the audio problem. I had the music turned down to 0 in the game settijgs all those years ago for whatever reason lol, and it was still set to that today. Im an idiot, but i dont mind giving Fromsoft a free $10 so whatever

Ah, i figured out why i couldnt beat blood starved beast. His final phase was constantly poisoning, even despite me rapidly using antidotes. Eventually i ran out of blood vials, and my health was draining rapidly, so i was like JUST GOTTA RUSH IN WITH EVERYTHING I GOT - EITHER HE DIES OR I DIE and it actually worked lol. Love this shit

Saw cleaver and hunter pistol for just right now. Ive beaten father gascoigne and cleric beast, i just got killed by blood starved beast

it really sucked fighting gascoigne in complete silence without that epic music

Anddd im still having the audio issues even with the digital version. Would someone else be willing to try playing their copy, get all the updates, and see if the sound works? It might be the latest update has broken the game or something? Just start a new game and see if theres audio in the opening cut scene

Im just gonna download the digital version for $10 and see if that fixes the audio problems

But man i love how good movement feels in this game. You can flow in and out of danger almost like a dance. I dont think i fully appreciated how truly good this was back then

Exploration and environmental story telling is top notch as always. Old yharnam especially. Crazy old hunter who shoots anyone who enters his territory, beasts having taken over a church and standing around worshipping some weird dead creature. Its so badass.

The only complaint i have is some of these areas are a bit too maze-like, and i get stressed out feeling like i havent thoroughly searched everything lol

Some of the audio files dont seem to be working tho. Some of the boss themes and dialogue are missing. Im playing my ps4 copy, and i tried it on both ps4 and ps5, and i had the issue both ways, so i dunno. Maybe the disc is scratched and the files arent being copied properly, or maybe my smart tv is doing something dumb

Also what does insight do? I know it summons people, but doesnt it also work kinda like Eternal Darkness where trippy stuff starts happening? Do i wanna keep it as high as possible at all times or what

This topic depresses me, because every time I look, it seems like you aren't valuing your own time. Suffering through all these 3/10s and 5/10s. After a while, it feels like I'm reading someone who is stuck in a sunk cost fallacy.

Nah tc is a hero. Hes playing all these games so we dont have to, in the hopes of helping the community find a diamond in the rough.

Super Mario Bros Wonder

100% completion. Final level was amazing. The final prize they give you even more so. Every single level had some crazy new mechanics and enemies, and all that plays off all the different power ups and ability badges you can equip. The online multiplayer is amazing. I had so many wholesome interactions with random people online. Just an amazing experience overall. Like 9.5/10

Grandia (Ps1)

Great game in 1998; hard to recommend in 2023 unless youre some hardcore JRPG aficionado. Great battle system and progression systems. The characters are very likable. Great sprite work and fun ost. And no random encounters is a plus. Just held back by shit like whenever you complete a dungeon, you have to turn around and backtrack out of it. Old skool design that deserves to stay in the 80s and 90s.

Grandia II is definitely the better game. While the first game feels dated, the second game holds up remarkably well imo

They take Mario seriously. Odyssey and maker 2 both got nominated in the past. They generally give nintendo a lot of love. Animal crossing NH and xenoblade 3 got nominations.

Spider-Man 2 is pretty much a guarantee. Its too big of a release and too highly praised to ignore. Armored Core VI isnt though. Its too niche, and was pretty underrated by critics and journalists.

Id say TOTK, BG3, RE4, and SM2 are all guaranteed. They might snub mario and sf6 for something dumb like starfield, because lol game awards

Re4make is the third highest rated game of the year behind tears and bg3. Also Re2make and re8 both got goty nominations in previous years.
