Looking up the definition of genocide it says

If this is what genocide is, then Hamas is certainly genocidal (their charter wants the extermination of all Jews)

But the group that Israel wants to destroy is the terrorists, not the palestinians, so I don't see how it can be called a genocide unless its a genocide against terrorists. They do not aim for civilians and try to get them to evacuate and try to minimize civilian casualties as best they can while also trying to stop the terrorists that are attacking them. I hope they show restraint going forward or will have to change my tune but I hope SOME form of cooler heads will prevail. If they truly cannot evacuate I do not think they will just kill all of them but I truly hope Im not wrong.

Either way this whole situation is horrible. It just really stings hearing people call Israel genocidal when they are the ones that have constantly had genocidal attacks against them. It feels targeted.

Conservative political leaders explicitly saying they want to eradicate gay people to no resistance has nothing to do with 261 and neither does someone being shitty over a license plate. The word "gay" is flagged because the stated goal is to remove any mentions of LGBT people from curriculum.

Their politicians are complicit in sexual assault or rape cases, their media heads cause bomb threats to children's hospitals and mock victims of hate crimes, they want to scrub the word "gay" from public life entirely and have openly used the word "eradicate" in reference to LGBT people, they want to roll back civil rights and whitewash the 1960s of its civil rights movement, etc.

Seething, cruel hypocrites that are destined to fail but will do everything in their power to inflict as much collateral damage as possible.

The people defending their position aren't necessarily the ones that make it plainly wrong but it's kind of blatant that "sanctity" is just a word to their political leadership

None of the arguments against it are constitutional or coherent as far as the USA goes;

-If Marriage's sole purpose is procreation, it begs questions about the elderly or infertile marrying.

-If childrearing of some kind is the purpose, gay couples can do this too, and no evidence exists they are worse at it or that outcomes are poorer

-If it's judged by God, that is a religious issue and not the matter of a secular constitution

-Marriage predates religion and has had varied connotations or meanings depending on the era it has existed in

The remaining cultural resistance to it has waned and largely dissolved to the point where it is just people who are open Christian nationalists who want to institute their religion into public law and do not view privacy as a valid concept

99% of the time these channels are fake so my read is that he's either pivoting to fake content (or) he's genuinely stupid. If it's the latter he will almost certainly get himself killed sooner than later

I think the guy was a bit quick to the trigger and doing it in a public place seems like a huge risk, but he has visual perspective we don't have in this situation (the area he aimed at may have have nobody else nearby) and all the same, it's weird and creepy to walk up on someone like that. It's just dumb to persist after being told to stop. Additionally, he didn't open an entire clip on the guy, it was one shot and he calmly backed away.

He was found not guilty on the assault charge but might be guilty for firing a weapon recklessly in an open area (was found guilty by a jury, but the judge might vacate that since it isn't consistent with the other ruling.)

There's a lot of details that I assume aren't public but

A: I think the guy who fired was a bit quick to do so, but this is an unusual circumstance

B: The prankster should be punished for inciting

There's precedence in US law to prevent people from accessing the internet with social media accounts who've used them to commit crimes so I feel like this should apply to "real" prankster channels that volley into this. It isn't free speech and shouldn't be protected.

Political approval ratings of establishment politicians are at an all-time low across the board and have been for over a decade. You can definitely say voters prefer Biden to Trump, but he isn't popular, and the current "establishment" is increasingly degrading as years pass by and nothing serious is done about a lot of structural issues with the country.

Also, Idaho's state legislature has been red for over 60 years. I think it just hits the most dings;

-Doesn't have a broad but inelastic Dem voter base (i.e. Mississippi)

-Doesn't have Dem political strength in recent decades (i.e. West Virginia)

-Hasn't even elected major statewide officials that are D in decades (Wyoming at least had one for 8 years in the 00s)

-Isn't trending blue rapidly (i.e. Texas) or trending blue slowly (Kansas)

The best answer is probably Idaho. Has not had even a Dem rep in over a decade, Dems do not win virtually any statewide elections, its growth is largely people from inland CA/WA/OR moving to it who are already very conservative, it is a stronghold for anti-vax rhetoric, and an anti-government terrorist (Ammon Bundy) got 17% of the vote as an Independent in the 2022 midterms (This cut into the Dem vote, the R incumbent won 60% of the vote.)

It doesn't have as high of a PVI as some states but it's been mostly ruby red for decades and shows signs of trending even redder. The only other contender is probably West Virginia since it's simply always going to be at conflict with coal becoming increasingly obsolete in the states.

Has anyone ever seen one of these kinds of twitter posts and delved into their profiles? I like to do it out of morbid curiosity sometimes and it's honestly hard to look at their feeds for more than a couple of minutes. I'd say 9/10 times these kinds of twitter accounts are genuinely miserable, hateful people.

Like yeah sure bigotry against LGBT people is common in America but these people make it their personality. They will seek out details like this specifically to get mad and malign how things they love are "ruined." I don't even really think a decent chunk of them like games or media at all because all they tend to do is have an existential crisis over how it isn't the same as it was when they were kids.

It can be fun to mock these people but these posts are the norm for them. They get mad at anything inferring gay people or black people exist and spend hours in their feeds having impassioned arguments about it when they could be playing games that are fun instead.

I wonder if people like this have always existed in this way or if the internet has created misery ecosystems where sad bigots can conglomerate and get adrenaline hits off of being angry at minorities. Shit isn't healthy.

If you look at the QRTs and responses you'll quickly find that the issue isn't the "edge" of the jokes it's that it just isn't funny. Not because of punching down or being offensive, it's just like, boring. He hypes up a lot of jokes and they just bomb badly.

None of this changes anything, this woman had an unhinged meltdown in a public space. Disabilities aren't an excuse for behavior like this, and the recording woman had no way of knowing that this was allegedly due to some kind of disability.
