im a freelance editor in los angeles and have obviously not been working lately due to the strikes. i hate living here anyway so i am planning on moving back to nyc and working in healthcare which is what i did before coming out here. i have people at at least four different establishments sending my resume directly to their bosses/recruiters to hire me and i feel pretty confident i'll get a job quickly once i move there. not to mention other places i'm applying to.

however to move there i need a place to live and most places require you to have a job/proof of income so... should i just lie and say im still a freelance editor and show them my income from last year? it would be less than what i anticipate making in nyc but i also have good credit and can provide a guarantor for an extra nudge.

also would my roommates hate me or rat on me if they found out? how would you react to finding out a new roommate lied about not having a job to get into an apartment <_<

i didn't know he did that. i know he was sent to the complex because he was just doing that poorly in the majors and it is a low stakes developmental league where they were just telling him to try and pound the strike zone to get his groove back or w/e

i've not heard of that one but the same people who make OOTP make a hockey sim as well. there's also some NFL style ones without licenses but i've heard mixed things about those. not sure if there's a basketball one.

but yeah you don't actually play out the games in OOTP. you can manage them tho and try to do strategies in-game but since there are 162 games that would take forever so i just stick to being a general manager and sim everything.

does out of the park baseball count? or other sports simulators like football manager? usually maneuvering a lot of budget restrictions while properly analyzing players and trying to win.

it really bums me out that forums died. forums are so much better than discord, reddit, streaming crap on yt/twitch, or microblogging social media platforms like twitter/fb/insta. oh well.

podcasts i already listen to include

nextlander and the jeff gerstmann show which are pretty same-y and that makes sense since they are both the perspectives of dudes in their 40s who worked together for like 25 years. i wish they would just kiss and makeup but reading between the lines on subreddits and stuff it seems like gerstmann may became a control freak. which is a bummer since i originally posted on gamespot instead of gfaqs and followed them on giantbomb as well. anyway. listening to another video game podcast with possibly different perspectives might be cool. keep in mind i don't give a shit about streamers or e-sports so not looking for something in that realm. just general video game news/reviews.

i'd also be down for a history podcast but preferably not something with what i can only describe as "NPR voice". i just want to listen to people talk like normal human beings. i tried doing a short history of and idk the way the guy talks is just so irritating. TALK LIKE YOU USUALLY DO

the giants and dodgers are the only teams i see him signing with. dodgers seemed to be cutting payroll last offseason specifically to get ready for this. giants whiffed on judge and correa so they want to make a big splash and the gm is obviously on the hot seat.

maybe the mets? even though they are in a soft rebuild. don't see yankees, phillies, or padres (esp with this new being poor story dropping) doing it since they all have too many huge deals on the books already and i don't think their owners will be cool with cohen-esque luxury tax penalties.

I'm primarily for developing players and then paying them with free agency and trades as a supplement (ie, what we've largely done), rather than vomiting money at big names and trying to outright buy a championship.
