the actual reasonably priced apartments get picked up by gentrifiers and students pretty quick

i don't think i can stomach bushwick though. living in bed stuy was bad enough dealing with all sorts of pratt kids all the time. bushwick seems 1000x worse. same with ridgewood. and i don't wanna be stranded in crown heights or bed stuy again with only having the G train or being a 15 min walk from the A/C. miserable.

I know I'm about to get a lot of flak for this, but I have never seen a good horror movie. I don't believe it's possible. I've seen many movies people claim to be good horror movies, but every single one of them fell flat for me. No movie has ever made me scared/anxious/suspenseful/etc. They're way too predictable and telegraphed.

Big agree. I want to go to the movies but they all feel even more by the numbers now. Everything is over reliant on cgi, it also needs to be sanitized so they appeal to China, Hollywood is scared of creating new ips so they revive 20+ yr old stuff doing weird soft reboots that appeal to everyone and do the bare minimum, sequels are held hostage if the first film doesn't make nearly a billion dollars, etc.

This might the most creatively bankrupt era for Hollywood.

It's absurd, my sister just went through it. She'll be paying more than she used to pay for a whole apartment to live with a stranger, but at least she'll be where she wants to be.

i lived there for 5 years and spent 875 on a 4/1.5 that was a minute walk from a train station. in the 2.5 years i spent there i got completely priced out of my area and managed to find a below market value spot in dumbo for like 775 but that was a 4/1 (and i had no windows in my room lol). and then post-covid everything has skyrocketed even more. a 4/1.5 room in bushwick, a full neighborhood or two further from the city than my old spots, is like 1200. and this is like 10 minutes walking from a train station too. shit is crazy bro.

i spent several hours on roomi.com bookmarking like 50 places that i was going to mass send DMs to but it turns out people can block you from messaging them if you dont have a premium account which costs $15/week or $30/mo so that's cool that i get to buy that now

and then craigslist and facebook are like 50% scams. reddit is too slow and unresponsive and also everyone there is apparently excited to spend 5k/mo with a roommate and sharing a bathroom. also trying to find a person to pair up with is almost impossible, but if i did that i could just search for an empty apartment which would be a thousand times easier than trying to find a single room for myself. searching traditional sites like redfin or streeteasy or w/e are soooo much easier than sifting through single room ads on these other places.

also you read a normal ad and then you get to the bottom and it says you need to be gay in the 7th paragraph and that "non-clothing lifestyle is a plus". you can just put your weird shit up top, man. don't make me read the whole ad only to see that at the end.

kore-eda is pretty consistent. spielberg almost remade his movie like father like son. shoplifters won the top prize at cannes and is his most popular probably. big fan of both plus still walking, after the storm, nobody knows...

weerasethakul is probably more an acquired taste doing 'slow cinema.' only seen memoria which is pretty cool but sorta loses me at the end.

not really. i've been thinking of creating a new one since i quit my old one that i commish'd. i have like ten people interested but probably won't get around to it until next year (i am in the process of prepping to move cross country and finding a new job so no time for ootp).

old league has some openings if you want in tho. its a 40 team fictional worldwide league. just entered free agency after its... 8th season i think? pretty slow sims, 4 days per day (longer in offseason), low injuries. not super fast and you can afford to miss some exports. they just added draft pick trading. coaching/scouting turned on. idk what else. oh you get participation points you can spend on perks like changing park factors or boosting a prospect's personality

what pieces? jason marquis and mark mulder had 280 innings between them with a 6.02 and 7.14 era. aaron miles, david eckstein, and yadier molina were not good hitters and never had been, each having a wrc+ under 87 while combining for 1500 PAs. they had a worse record in the 2nd half compared to the 1st half so it isn't like they made awesome deadline trades to boost them.

they were not a good team.

not super into open world stuff unless its a smaller open world a la yakuza 0 or spiderman. shit like horizon or skyrim or rdr2 or gta6 is just exhausting. i like naughty dog games or 'movie games' like god of war. not really into fps unless its hectic and has awesome movement like doom or titanfall 2. puzzle games that leave you to figure things out your own like outer wilds and the witness are good. also earth defense force kicks ass.

cards had a 98 wrc+ which ranked 13th

cards had a fip- of 108 which ranked 27th

It's not luck, and this isn't usual. Low payroll teams have a shot every few years by building up their systems. The Dodgers losing isn't tragic, especially because them choking in October is consistent.
