If not, it's never been an issue for me.
I always applied for the new one with around 3 months left.

Actually, last one was expiring in June 2020 and I applied in May due to covid. It was extremely annoying to get it extended at the time. And then some months later they announced that IDs/passports will be valid past the expiration date during covid.

It worked and was normal here until brexit. Before brexit, you could have a UK passport that was valid in the eu for 10 years + whatever time you added by renewing early.

That bit confused me because my EU passport is just valid for 10 years from the date it was made. As in my last one was expiring in June 2020, but my current one was made in May, so it's valid until May 2030.

I got my knife for around 250 in 2015. Thousands and thousands of hours later, it's worth around 1k and I can get around 750-800 real world money for it.

How many games offer you that opportunity. No gambling, just an investment.

Meanwhile you'll buy an annual COD release for $70, spend a hundred or two on their disgusting money grab practices and then you're left with nothing in a couple of years when they release another COD game.

It's worse than gambling. You are better off going to a casino & playing the slots because at least you are usually getting a 80+% payout, often 90%. The payout ratios on the these skins are like 10%, often less. I don't see how anyone can have fun losing that often.

How are they worse? Valve is the only developer that allows you to make a profit off their games. I'm not talking about gambling, but strictly lootboxes. If you get lucky, you can get a lot of real money for it or just cash in on steam and buy other games. With skins just increasing in value and trading, anyone with half a brain can make a solid profit. I haven't added any money into my steam wallet in almost a decade now. I buy games strictly with CSGO profits. And I don't gamble.

Every other developer takes your money and that's it. You might get lucky or not, but they've got your money. There's no getting it back or even trading those items in a lot of games, the only way to get value back is to sell your account, which is illegal.

Outside of Vegas gambling is HEAVILY regulated and mostly illegal. In addition to that, promoting it to minors as Valve does is EXTREMELY illegal, and for very good reason because once you form addiction it's there for life.

You have to understand that on more developed continents like Europe, we aren't such degenerates who can't control ourselves or our children and gambling is fully legal and mainstream. The world doesn't revolve around US.

For example, Netherlands as a country has banned lootboxes from gaming and players can't open them in any game if they're playing from Netherlands IP address.

The only illegal aspect about what Valve is advertising is the minors thing, but parents should learn how to control their kids. Kids might win some money if they gamble in Valve games, but they're at a guaranteed loss if they spend money on Fortnite or Riot's garbage.

Facts are that gambling in Valve games has been unregulated for a decade now and that many people made a lot of money off it. I've made some decent profit myself. Not by gambling on esports matches or opening loot boxes, but by just following the market and trading skins.

CSGO/Dota skins are pretty much a successful version of NFTs. Their value never drops, just keeps rising. Every skin you have can be sold on the market or third party sites. Valve takes 15% cut for every steam market sale and that's where their billions come from and that's why they have no need to ever actually develop any new games.

If you go through one of reputable third party sites, you get like 75% of steam market value into actual money. So if I've got a $100 skin, I can get $75 real money off it.

The problem is that people are degenerates and gambles, so they waste away their or their parents' money in a lot of cases on a lot of cases. (pun intended)

If you're someone who just wants to play the game, Valve's system is by far the most fair out of any game with microtransactions. Skins are just skins, nothing more. You gain no gameplay advantage whatsoever. Their battlepasses and operations pretty much guarantee that you can make your money back by just playing the game. Again, if you don't care about it, you don't lose out on anything by not buying it.

There are people with thousands of hours in either game who never spent a cent. Anyone who's complaining about actual games is a moron with no self-control.

What people have every right to complain about is the esports scene. It's fueled exclusively by gambling money pretty much and god knows how much shady shit happens. ESL being bought by Saudis is just a cherry on top.
