People would be buying Canadian cars if that was the case. MSRP plus a couple grand to ship is cheaper then the BS happening in the states when dealers are adding 5,10 and as high as 20k to every new car they can.

Yeah after looking into it a bit more I was mistaken. I had heard bits and pieces of my original statement circulating in car groups, but I had never bothered to verify since it didn't really concern me. It sounds like people were just confused with Canada's Competition Act stating that dealers must sell at the advertised pricing, which obviously is set by them.

Manufacturers dont get the extra profit the dealerships do. Been an issue for decades, but legally theyre the only place to get a new car in the United States which allows them to collectively monopolize the entire industry in times like these.

Exactly. I wanna say Canada has some sort of consumer protection in place that disallows, or at minimum, discourages that practice. I could be mistaken though.

oh he has a c8? those are really good. But i heard the you have to pay much more than retail to get one. Another thing with fast cars is that the insurance is a lot more than for slow cars. And especially so if you're a young guy.

Can't say, he got his for retail. I don't know what his insurance is like but I'm sure it's up there. He's in his 30s and it's a Corvette so I can only imagine. I'll ask him.

Edit: Somehow he managed to swing $670 a year for it. And now I'm mad.

My best friend just took delivery on his new Corvette a couple of weeks ago. Having rode in that, my car feels slow as shit now lol. They're freaking sexy.

I've seen the new Integra Type S go for MSRP, so there are some performance cars that aren't being marked up. That said, I feel it's more expensive than it needs to be for what it offers.

This. I lucked out getting my Type R at MSRP right at the start of COVID, but prior to that and even now the ADM is out of control for even non limited vehicles. I wish the manufacturers would push back on the dealers with this nonsense since it affects their sales.

Im making a point that youre lazy at being a mod and disregard frequent issues on this board you read and post on. Youre excuse is just to add it to the mod queue instead of dealing with it as you see it.

I've gone on record multiple times as saying that unless I come across an extremely severe violation, I don't spot mod. Nor are we expected to. If anything, it's discouraged. We are still users, and are still allowed to browse and use the boards like any other user. If I want to do mod work, I'll go to the queue. What you call lazy is nothing more than an expectation that you've created in your head about what we should do.

Yes, for as long as the boards have existed, the moderation system has been primarily community driven. This isn't some recent ask to mark messages or topics that violate the rules.

At no point was it said marking something incorrectly would get you in trouble. What actually was said was that if you're being told something isn't against the rules and you continue to mark it anyway, there will be consequences; a point ostensibly needing clarification due to you saying that you would mark every pitbull topic that was trolling, after being told that the topics are not inherently considered trolling. Given your obvious distaste for the topics in general, it was an appropriate conclusion to come to.

The politics board was closed down and there was a can of worms opened up for 2 weeks. You really think the same 3 posters are going to be that upset in the long haul because their trolling topics get closed? You can differentiate between ones that are legit and others that are trolling. Idk why you downplay it like its not a frequent thing here. Its not like you dont read the board on a regular basis.

I'm not saying they're not frequent, but honestly I couldn't tell you the last time I saw a pitbull topic here. Like, I probably saw it but I'm so disengaged in them that it doesn't even register that I saw it, if that makes sense. So while I'm aware it's become something of a meme of this board by now, I really don't pay them much attention outside of if I happen to catch something in the queue.

Because everyone here is an adult and should be perfectly capable of preventing a topic pertaining to a dog from devolving into a such a shitshow that it requires moderator intervention. We're not going to just start prohibiting topics about certain subjects from being made because some folks have to show out. That's not a can of worms you want to open up. If there are posts within the topic that break the site rules, mark them. If the topic is getting too extreme that you feel the need to get heated and argue, disengage.

I personally find the topics a bit sensationalist and annoying. So I ignore them. The memes are sometimes funny though.

Worst case scenario, if a mod finds the topic getting out of hand, they can close it. But they aren't inherently against the rules.

I pay for YT Premium because it was bundled with YT Music, which is my streaming platform of choice. Choice being a loose term because I had Play Music way back when, which was much better, and I couldn't be fucked to migrate everything to another platform.
