hopefully ken buck and the other holdouts don't prove to be as spineless as they usually are. republicans that are actually interested in governing have no reason to cave to jordan who has never authored any successful legislation in his 16 year career. hopefully jordan continues to bleed support and some supposedly moderate gop members are forced to compromise with democrats on a moderate speaker.

if jordan doesn't get the votes there is no path forward for any republican unless they compromise with democrats. in that scenario the democrats would be able to demand concessions and at least ensure we get ukraine funding and the government stays open. it would also enrage the insane cultist wing of the gop and the cultist voters which would lead to even more gop infighting which would be good for democrats and america long term

I think Kirk Cousins has proven to be an above-average QB that can give his team a chance to win. That's why I mentioned him earlier in my ramble. He's not really considered a HOF contender, but he's not trash either. For us Packer fans trying to evaluate Jordan Love, we need to understand that there is a lot of room inbetween those two polar extremes (HOF or bust). Kirk Cousins being as good of an example as any.

yeah, getting an even serviceable qb in the nfl is really tough and not many teams get those. i feel like cousins has never been a top 5 guy but i would say he is currently a top 10 guy probably. i think cousins is like the stafford/rivers tier that is good enough to win and pull out wins on his ability occasionally but only good enough to helm a contender if the team is really elite. of course you want a mahomes/burrow type, but those guys are super rare.

i feel certain they wished they got stroud. young is young though, you can't declare a guy a bust after 1/3 of a season.

i will continue to defend cousins. as a vikings fan i feel like i can see he is one of the better qbs in the league. he isn't elite of course, but he is in the stafford tier of being good enough to win if the team around him is really strong. i may be one of the only vikings fans that wants to extend him at this point, but having him at least gives us a chance to win against anyone. he has been really good this year and seems to get better and better despite getting p old for a qb

i think the way would be to try and draft a guy to be the qb of the future and have him study under cousins for a couple of years. if we continue to suck i feel like we could maybe get a solid qb prospect like drake maye or penix jr. would be really thrilled to get maye or whoever this next draft and give them time to develop instead of throwing them in the grease behind a bad line

congressional term limits as proposed have always been a bad idea. i think it's fine to have some kind of term limit on congress, but it should probably be around 20 years so you don't just have a revolving door of money influencing congressional representatives even more than we already do. also you really don't want people that don't know how to legislate being the only legislators. i do think capping the upper end of the age people can serve in congress at like 70 is appropriate and i don't see any real argument against that that holds any weight.

the main issue is letting big institutional money so blatantly and easily influence politics. that should go back to being illegal af and is by far the main problem we have in both chambers.

capping the supreme court at like 10 year appointments makes much more sense than a short cap on congressional representatives. there is no justification for someone like clarence thomas or samuel alito being allowed to wield power for so long with no check on power and no real way to remove them.
