Layle's jacket emblem can be changed by giving materials and gil to the Emblem Shop moogle. Some of these Emblems are homages to previous Crystal Chronicles games.

including the utterly cartoonish declarations of supervillain revenge fantasies about he will have his payback on the people he perceives to have wronged him. and the narcissistic part of saying how he's such a perfect person and everyone else is at fault for not liking him and that it's not fair

when he came here after prison I tried to have a serious talk with him and that was a part that I had to realize. I tried arguing that he must not have any self respect if he's clinging on to such an abusive girl who literally stabbed him and has been actively seeking to destroy him - and his response was that it isn't true, he doesn't have a low opinion of himself but actually the opposite

and I realized that actually yeah that does fit, the reason he lets an abusive ex walk all over him isn't about his lack of self-respect, but his own delusional perception that he can manipulate people and mold them into what he wants them to be - it's actually something he long ago told me was the reason he got into psychology, because he thought it could teach him to manipulate people. gbro thinks that if he is endlessly forgiving and becomes her only pillar of support as friends ditch her for being crazy, that he can make her emotionally dependent on him. but he doesn't realize only the opposite is happening as he digs his hooks into her no matter what she does. and now that everything's come crashing to the floor he's out for indignant revenge now that he's finally come to face that his manipulations aren't working and now he's completely defeated

the google result says average is 33.4 sooooo at 37 he wouldn't be so out of the ordinary

also a bit of extra pride that this one is fully 100% my work, since the background isn't just pulled from a video game's scenery, but it's my own photograph i took (around the arashiyama bamboo grove nio took me). so just some legit photoshop skills - cutout filter effect to simply,then cover it up a hue layer splashing around some red & green and blurring, tossing on some film grain to finish and help separate the background from the character to be placed on top, with some color balanc tweaking in the video editor

I only played the original a couple years ago but I was very underwhelmed by the plot when it came to the second half. bottom tier uninteresting antagonist force.

2 is much more of an interesting package

for sure, I've just this year though had a bit of the opposite lesson with rigging although it's probably more of the lesson in the quality of subtlety. the first rig I did this year was the one that I'm now redoing, like I've been saying I've loooved the concept art which feels like a lot more unique design than just the flannel & casual designs (the the flannel is VERYYY personal a reflection of my upbringing irl) and as I result I wanted to go all out but the final output was a bit of a mess. basically the same lesson of trying to do a lot and being dissatisfied with each of those pieces

so this summer's casual fit I took those lessons to go simpler - go basic with shading and don't try to push the tilts too far. honestly learned from the comparative realization that other models that don't move so much can still look great (honestly thought of our very own Jack Dandy) so I tried a slighter touch and the final result paid off big-time

vbridger rigging actually i did attempt previously though & bailed, I think it was the casual fit. it is a technique though that I can always come back to because it's more of an additive feature than a mutative one. it's just adding a bunch of extra params so I felt it was something I could come back to if I wanted. that is though where I've learned to add a jaw warp which has been a noticeable improvement in the Fantasy Life rig and now I'm always doing at least that.

important understanding though is that even when things don't turn out well it's still something to learn from. like from the earlier rig I learned what didn't work, then the next thing I specifically targeted those feelings.

... no question the best eye work I've ever done. helps that I looked into what blendshapes do because that encouraged me to make the anger toggle and woahhhh the outcome is amazing. wish I learned about blendshapes before I did my feature toggles tho because uh that's like exactly what they're for

only did a simple 3x3 mouth rig but still looks really great too, I'll expand on it some more tomorrow but I'm tired of mouth rigging for today - the fantasy life model taught me to add a jaw movement on mouth open which really boosts the effect. kinda interested to do the extra mouth params for vbridger rigging but that's kind of a lot................. but I'm really loving this rig so it's probably worth putting in that extra effort to learn
