America has been going down the tubes since Reagan and now one of the two major parties is fully radicalized. I can't speak for everyone, but every single meaningful aspect of my life will be destroyed with a GOP win. Mainstream Republicans have spent the last 3 years framing me as a murderous pedophile who needs to be kicked out of the country.

The first one isn't true yet, but everything else is going down the drain and a Trump win would be a killing blow.

At that point, politics is completely non-functional. If this is accepted, voting rates would plummet and Republican victory would be assured. That would be a fundamental failure of the Democratic Party and our democracy as a whole.

Luckily, I don't think most voters think this way. People vote because they think better things are possible, to get to good, not just less bad.

I agree that we need to vote for Biden, but what you're discussing is an abusive relationship and it wouldn't just be apathetic black people that drop out if that's what they thought the situation was.

It is what it is. Hope requires survival. And we both need to continue to hope that people are not so apathetic that they think giving up is preferable to treading water.

When have I ever said that or anything that can even be charitably interpreted as that? My main point in this topic has been that Democrats should focus on the good they've done and should try to get better so they can address people's needs, rather than insulting people.

And my main point that it doesn't fucking matter what the Democrats do or say. We have to vote for Biden in 2024 no matter what. Voter turnout in primaries is even lower than the general election. So clearly something is preventing people from voting in primaries even more than the general.

People not voting is exercising their right to not have to vote. You're giving an out to democrats who should be working to appeal for votes. Literally, that's the only job of a politician on the campaign trail, and democrats fail at it. Stop giving them outs.
