For me it isn't about if she is or isn't black. It is about being 100: adamant about it when we don't know the full story and taking Egyptian culture as 100% black.

If this was a colorblind casting, I mean sure, go for it. However, the idea behind this docudrama is basically to tell people who are queens from Africa. To tell a history that a lot of people don't know about.

Some stuff I can see and agree with. We should consider race when it comes to history, that does make sense. My thing is the people who do this things don't offer a suggestion, they take it as a fact.

It is never, " there could be a possibility that Cleopatra is black as there many Sub-Saharan African in Egypt at the time. " it is more " we have been lied to! Cleopatra is black, look at the pottery."

And if you get into a discussion them there is no room for open ideas, it is there way or the highway.

Well, I can't blame them for suing. If they win good. They need to stop it. The funny thing is, Jada is likely a majority of west african. Which has nothing to do with egypt.

I know you heard of Jada Pinkett Smith's Cleopatra movie or documentary that is coming out soon. I know people debate about if she is black or not, but I really don't care. I just notice this thing, I don't have a name for it. They usually say "<insert historical figure here> is black" or "<insert religious group> are black."
I want to speak about the motivation and ideas behind it, the reason why they does this thing. Before I can tell you the motivation, I have to give the backstory.

So the backstory to motivation is pretty much rooted in slavery. We came here as a slave and throughout the generation, African Americans didn't know their culture back in Africa. A white person could tell you which country their ancestors were from and who they were related to. Another part of the backstory was "blue eye jesus." The pale skin model who they have represented Jesus.

When it was discovered that Jesus wasn't the model, some black came up with the conclusion that white people lied and pretty much hid the truth. With that being said, the idea was born from this question, "what else did they hid from us?"

So they did some "research" some are true, I believe the black samurai was true? (Feel free to correct me). Some stuff I questioned, like William Shakespeare being black. The most infamous ones besides Jesus was the backstory to the "We wuz Kangz" meme. That the jews today are fake and the real Israelite were black. Specifically, they were from a tribe called Igbo in Nigeria.

So what I notice about the people who spread and believe this are the same people like my best friend... they don't have shit going on for themselves. He is white and he cling on to his Greek heritage. No offense to him he is good and loyal friend. Just being honest.
TL;DR
They don't know shit about Africa or they don't find the actual history enriching so they do mental gymnastics of other cultures and historical figures and tie it to themselves to get some false sense of superiority. This shit is lame.

The problem is that they have to rely on established characters.
Creating new main characters are often seen as a risky move in comics nowadays. It's not like the 70s-80s where new heroes keep popping up.
And this leads to the stagnant feel that comic books always revolves around the same superheroes.

Manga always have new characters. Some are newer than batman and superman and getting more popular than they are.

No, they what kills comics is they don't make sense. Manga give you an a simple drive through town story.

Comicbooks give you bursting out your garage door, make some donuts, crash into a few park cars, crash back in the garage and then enter in your window instead of taking the front door like a normal person.

When I ask people about their favorite comic book stories, it is the ones that are side stories and have an ending. A clean ending. Not some weird in-universe reason to reboot the series.

Do what the television and movie adaptation do. Start, journey, clean ending.. that is it.

Yup. They try to keep it short unless fan feedback is very good along with sales. If a new series is crashing and burning they've got to be able to abandon it with ease and pump out the next hook ASAP.

I mean that's what happen with Manga. If it is bad, cut it out.

Okay, au stuff that's clearly meant to be a bit grimdark is tolerable. But the problem I've got is that it doesn't seem too different from where the nastier main canon stories go. And at least Zombies had an ending. Main Spidey is permanently stuck in a hellish eternity and that stops being fun to read pretty quickly.

And this is why I say have an ending and stop doing event reboots. You will have permanent progression, character development, and a well deserved ending.

Like do a 10 year run. End and just say we are doing a reboot with a different interpretation.

Well, apparently it doesn't work out. It would be one thing if they can pass the mantle, permanently, but they want to have the individual as well. That's no good.

Oh, also, that probably isn't even the worst of it. The writer said that his editor told him not to go to any conventions for a while because issue #26 (out this month) is going to make a lot of people mad at him. So they're probably going to do something even dumber.

Reddit keeps suggesting the Spider-Man subreddit to me, so I actually kind of have the gist of the story without actually having read it.

This whole storyline apparently started with everyone hating Spider-Man, even down to people like Captain America. Norman Osborne is his only real ally. MJ is with this dude named Paul and apparently has two kids. It was meant to be this big mystery about what he did to make everyone hate him. From the very first issue of the storyline, the question was, "What did Peter do?!"

The backstory so far, from what I've gathered, is that Peter and MJ were trapped in an alternate dimension. They met this dude named Paul and found a portal which Paul pushed Peter through. When he came out on the other side, he buried his Spider-Man suit for uh. Some reason. I guess to hide his identity? This isn't me not knowing btw, people were complaining about that making no sense. Anyway, apparently there was some kind of explosion at that location and his suit being there implicated him.

So while Peter's rushing to try and get back to MJ, he beats up Captain America who's trying to help him clear his name because there's "no time to explain!" He also robs the Fantastic Four When he goes back into the dimension to save MJ, it's revealed that time moves differently. She got over their relationship and now she and Paul have had two kids together. Somehow. While on the run from the big evil dude in this dimension.

That's not the sole issue, people were complaining about it long before all of that was revealed. This entire storyline seems to just be Peter getting shit on relentlessly and people are just tired of it. Marvel seems to very much want Peter to be this miserable piece of shit forever trapped poor and alone because that's rElAtAbLe.

Oh that's why. I don't understand why can't they do just a clean reboot. Go through a through Z. And not some shit happens to him. Have Peter go through being a kid go to school fight some villains marry Mj or someone else and he lives happily ever after and the end. Then just say you start a new Spiderman in a different universe.. like every super hero TV show or movies.

His life is basically that movie trope where someone is getting their ass kicked, there's a record scratch and freeze frame, "yeah that's me," except it happens every thirty seconds and the beating lasts the whole movie.

I don't get that. Dude is at least a 3.0 GPA student and he is a scientist after school how is life not doing decent?
