Also, a question for the B8 historians: when exactly did Ulti get that way? My experience says September 13th, 2005: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/poll/2122-tournament-quarterfinal-mario-vs-samus-aran Ulti picked correctly here and deserved credit for the pick back in 2005. That said, the way he antagonized the stats-topic and the rest of the board with constant attacks over this and refusing to do anything short of meme'ifying "lol x-stats" for years afterward was flagrant. This was my first clue regarding the rest of his later downfall. It was one of the worst examples of a sore winner I ever had experience with, even up to today. Little more context here: he won an entire contest the year before this, and in 2004 he was generous enough to even give a game or two of his earned prizes away. He gave my brother one anyway, and that was a kindness that was above and beyond. In 2005 though, he was non-stop completely rude about this one match without particular reason. Like...he wasn't singled out or harassed leading up to it or anything, just a pre-contest underdog that won big in a high-profile match where stats fell short to the logic of "It's Mario." It was just for Ulti's own bragging rights, and it was incessant for years. A lot of his other problems came later. That started them for me. --- O P E R A T I O N O U S T : Nominate SHEIK! https://i.imgur.com/OpudFxm.jpg |

HaRRicH 09/04/23 1:05:23 PM #130 | Back before I began blocking
As somebody that used to defend his right to speak up and have debates in the Politics Containment topics (which felt like extensions of the previous patience often given to him in other years-long periods of wack behavior toward people he claims he cares about, beginning with the early days/years of lol x-stats)...he was acting in bad faith for over a decade. That's exhausting, and people are allowed to block and ban him. Ulti had three good years, and ever since then it has been hard to trust him or see when the benefit of the doubt succeeded with him. People shouldn't be asking Emerald to unblock him, do work for him, and entertain him. Does Ulti have a history of doing the same that I don't know about -- being considerate to the people he's blocking or people blocking him that I'm not aware of? By general experience with Ulti, Emerald sounds plenty justified. ZeroSig's compromise was fair, but I still don't blame Emerald. This has now gone from Emerald to ZeroSig handing it off to Ulti though, right? I get that it's better for Ulti to run something fun than nobody run something fun, as a principle, and I get giving it to a long-time player. It still strikes me as a bad idea, but it's not my game. Some of ya'll probably know more about Ulti's behaviors in recent years. Has he really changed much in the past, say, five years? --- O P E R A T I O N O U S T : Nominate SHEIK! https://i.imgur.com/OpudFxm.jpg |

HaRRicH 08/30/23 6:14:56 PM #394 | I feel like both age and health are the wrong way to anchor this framing. They're tangentially on the right track and cannot be ignored, but it should be focused more on life expectancy.
How many executive decisions should you be making about society's future when your age is already above the average age of your society? People dealing with so much more likelihood of future-time than you should have a larger say-so about long-term-future executive decisions. Frame it around the average time people will likely be around with these decisions, and it will be less about their quality of health at any given moment. Under the HaRRicH Administration:
THIS DOESN'T SOLVE EVERYTHING (that average life expectancy is higher than I thought, but even if lower it still wouldn't solve everything). Some politicians I like well enough would be lost doing this, and so would some politicians I don't like. https://www.gematsu.com/2023/08/switch-worldwide-sales-top-129-53-million-the-legend-of-zelda-tears-of-the-kingdom-tops-18-51-million#:~: text=Nintendo%20Switch%20has%20sold%20129.53,in%20its%20latest%20earnings%20release. [link gap thanks to GameFAQs] Switch worldwide sales top 129.53 million, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom tops 18.51 million "A total of 3.91 million Switch hardware and 52.2 million software were sold during the three months ended June 30, 2023." Seven more quarters at this rate (March 31st in 2025) to beat the DS and be in that 155-158-million range I saw for the PS2...those are probably high hopes to keep it selling that steadily. No new movie releases coming soon that I'm aware of either, plus LoZ:TotK already got probably more than half of its sales done unless it comfortably outsells BotW. We'll have to see what they do to push hardware sales going forward... ...but also, now there are two Mario games coming up on the holiday season, and these are the first major Mario game releases since the Mario movie came out -- a new platformer and remaking an old RPG. Princess Peach also gets her own game next year. There's a synergy with the movie there that could help sell hardware. This previous quarter sold 860,000 more units than the quarter before it too, so it's got some upward momentum. Last, while the next Nintendo system is likely to be announced within a year, the Switch will still be on sale for well over seven quarters from now so it doesn't have to keep this increased rate up like I mentioned earlier. HaRRicH 08/24/23 2:00:25 PM #262 | My thought process there is a plurality works in a large field and Vivek is about to grow the most in name recognition. The one (very short) period Donald wasn't leading the RNC in the 2016 campaign was when he was behind to Ben Carson.
If Donald is alive and eligible while voters still support Donald, there is no chance for Vivek. In absence of Donald though, racists will likely support someone supporting their kind of racism in the same way racists did for Hershel Walker and the same way Christians did for Donald for their kind of Christianity. It just depends if Vivek convinces Republicans he is one of theirs or not, and I suspect he is doing that albeit being a divisive fool along the way too (like saying climate change is a hoax). I won't keep on -- just don't want people to sleep on his chances either. He's about to become a bigger figure. --- O P E R A T I O N O U S T : Nominate SHEIK! https://i.imgur.com/OpudFxm.jpg |

HaRRicH 08/24/23 12:35:20 PM #253 | Vivek did a lot of Trump-like things with his behavior, he drew the most attention from yesterday's opponents as they each spoke, he got the most support in a focus group (CNN's?) right after the debate for who won, he's getting the most attention from pundits since the debate, he probably had the lowest name recognition going into the debate, and Donald's getting his mugshot taken today.
Donald's still going to be very far ahead of everybody this month, but Vivek is about to jump in the polls to my prediction of second place nationally after this...and if Donald goes to jail or dies from old age or something like that, then Vivek is in *the space* to best absorb Donald's voters. In that scenario, if Vivek managed to win the primary, a thirty-nine year old would be against someone who is almost eighty-two years old. That worked well for Obama when he was forty-seven years old against a seventy-two year old John McCain, and this would be eighteen more years of difference. Vivek had a very-not-good-kind-of-insane debate overall in my book, but he's not seeking my vote. HaRRicH 08/18/23 12:28:00 AM #14 | I think Nintendo can do it.
Main two points: **Tears of the Kingdom lived up to the hype and sold over eighteen million copies since May. **The Mario movie was a huge hit, and now this winter we have both SMRPG being remade and Mario Wonder coming out. That game with Princess Peach is next year too, which may reach new demographics. Smaller-scale, we also see Pikmin 4 outselling all other Pikmin games combined in Japan. These are software arguments for selling hardware that's 6+ years old to people who don't already have it so this won't magically mean new records...but Nintendo has some interesting momentum going on with no new system announced yet. --- O P E R A T I O N O U S T : Nominate SHEIK! https://i.imgur.com/OpudFxm.jpg |

HaRRicH 08/15/23 9:42:46 AM #74 | Anyway, good question here but a weird question to answer too. Georgia's case will stick around the longest and be the most inescapable in that way. Stealing secrets and stealing elections cannot be stood for by a democracy of any sort. Society has mostly accepted paying off Stormy Daniels in a legally questionable way as canon as opposed to the more rigorous party-line divisions of what happened that come with the other three. Each of those indictments can be an answer here depending on the lens you view the question with here.
Voted 1/6. It's just Donald being tried instead of having to worry about trying additional people alongside him, the indictment covers so much more about before the insurrection happened in addition to the day of the attack and even later that same day, and the precedent its decision will leave is arguably the biggest of them all here. Politically, we've already seen it divide his party to some degree as well, and despite two and a half years it doesn't seem like Donald or Republicans defending 1/6 have a consistent story about what happened. There is exactly nothing that should be noteworthy about this statement, but in light of the Trump Administration's entire term it was important that something finally went right in terms of governance. Mike Pence not only enabled Donald for 4+ years, but he was also Donald's strongest connection to tie his politics with religion. Fuck him forever for that. HaRRicH 08/02/23 4:05:48 PM #1 | Super Mario 64 recently broke my heart. #1 game of all time for a long time with me having last played it around 2009, then the 3D All-Stars came out and my replay didn't go as well last year...so I wouldn't say that game anymore. My next pick would have been Final Fantasy X, which I first and last played around 2011...I imagine I'd still like it, but it's been awhile. Super Mario 64 is largely my catalyst for the topic. People like to say certain games held up well and I don't always know when people actually last played them in comparison to modern games to see if their opinions are tested much or not. --- O P E R A T I O N O U S T : Nominate SHEIK! https://i.imgur.com/OpudFxm.jpg |

HaRRicH 08/02/23 2:55:09 PM #55 | I'd add in addition to the above there is the interest from Trump to go deeply personal. He already challenged Obama's birth certificate to whitewash the racism toward him, brought Bill Clinton's accusers to a debate against Hillary, and cancelled Michelle Obama's healthy food program on her birthday.
He knows Joe lost one son and he has another who's not doing well -- ~"you wanna run against me Joe, well fuck you, your son's dick-pics and drug problems are going into the Congressional record and I'll try to bully another country into announcing fake investigations into him, shoulda stayed home." I dunno what the most equivalent both-sides'ing here is regarding Democrats going after children of Republican politicians who are not hired in the government -- Baron Trump, Meghan McCain, and whoever the daughter was for Sarah Palin who got pregnant all come to mind...but each of those situations are different from each other, and each of those are different from what's happened with Republicans and Hunter Biden. --- O P E R A T I O N O U S T : Nominate SHEIK! https://i.imgur.com/OpudFxm.jpg |

HaRRicH 08/01/23 10:11:38 PM #4 | VintageGin posted... It's probably advertising a website that just talks about PBF while interspersed with a ton of ads Possible -- without giving unwarranted clinks to them, I see there is a site called avocado post that is shown with a small logo there on the ad. I bet that site which is advertising itself as an online lifestyle magazine is doing what you described. --- O P E R A T I O N O U S T : Nominate SHEIK! https://i.imgur.com/OpudFxm.jpg |
