It's definitely more than an HD touchup. Just less noticeable than some other remasters because the paper character designs are artistically the same (which is a good thing).
Mostly looks better but I keep getting drawn to the logs by the furnace, which either look awful in the remake or were replaced with cardboard boxes for some reason.

I don't think the former means much just because of how it's phrased. Virtually all Trump voters will be yes, no while plenty of Biden voters will say yes, yes or no, no. Might be more meaningful if it just asked about the ages without giving candidate names.

Honestly I think Baten Kaitos would have been better received if it didn't have a hilarious dub.

And from what I understand this release has no dub, so...!
The translation itself was fine AFAIK and the VA-work was decent for early 2000s, but the recordings had weird audio issues and it wasn't clear if it was an intentional artistic choice or if they just fucked it up.

Mostly I remember people blasting it for having a card-based battle system because there were a few years when that was extremely pass. PSO3 got hammered by critics for the same reason.

Kenri has beaten Magical Drop II

Struggled to decide which character to pick between the gremlin and the girl with three eyes, and then I noticed the girl with a collar and a whip and that made the choice easy!

Played story mode on medium and got crushed by the third opponent a couple times while figuring out the game, then cruised though until the second-to-last guy who seemed like an incredible difficulty leap. Beat the final opponent mirror match on the first try though.

Cathedral (Steam)

Lots of games these days try to be 2D Dark Souls, but this one really nails the crossover between Dark Souls-style malevolence and classic NES-style malevolence. This game is tough. It might be the only metroidvania I've ever played where I felt like I had to collect all the upgrades just to stay on par with some of the bosses.

Honestly it's too much. The first major boss is such an absurd jump in difficulty from the easy tutorial boss that probably 90% of players will just stop there. He moves insanely fast and when you finally manage to land a blow on him it does, like, 1/100th of his health. If you leave and go explore the entire world and get everything available at that point he becomes a reasonable second boss. And that's the worst offender but it's the same pattern for basically the whole game.

If you can get past the difficulty (and some bugs) the game is great, with tons of stuff to explore and a lot of good platforming sections.

That's true, the crazyisgood voters are probably cis men

About 1% of the general population is trans:

https://usafacts.org/articles/what-percentage-of-the-us-population-is-transgender/

Given that a b8er is 20x as likely to be trans as a member of the general population, and basically nobody here identified as trans 15 years ago, what do we think that says?

a) Something about being a b8er correlates with a higher-than-average probability of being trans
b) A significant chunk of the general population would identify as trans with some more introspection
c) The b8 environment makes people trans
d) Something else
Board 8 is significantly gayer, more progressive, and lives in countries with more LGBT rights than general pop (and even was 15 years ago) so I imagine that accounts for a lot of A.

sign me up for the A + B + C combo though

I can think of a few explanations:

1. this topic is of greater interest to gender minorities than cis people
2. people are lying
3. that thing that causes transwomen to outnumber or nearly-outnumber ciswomen in competitive fighting games and chess and programming and other niche interests for people who hyperfixate on minutiae
I think it's real interesting that only 2 AFABs answered (unless there are some among the crazyisgoods)
Almost certainly a combination of 1, 3, and secret #4: turn of the millennia era internet forums about video games were like 90% boys (/people who understood themselves to be boys at the time) to begin with so obviously that means more trans women down the road.

also double-secret #5: in terms of "avoiding a tripling" don't forget crazyisgood is absorbing a good chunk of votes

that said my reaction was still "holy shit, there are over 20 of us here??"
