I think it's tough too when the MCU has an established timeline and it's already 2025+ or something. Magneto would be like 90 years old if they go that route so IDK what they could do.

This was definitely something I was thinking about a lot. What exactly do you do with that aspect of the character for the MCU? Do you do the comic book thing and use bs plot elements to explain why he's lived so long? That would just makes things confusing to new audiences and seem pointless (that is to say, a comic book audience expects, if not demands that backstory, and would be more willing to suspend their belief to justify its inclusion). Do you transfer the story to a more modern setting? That would make it less impactful, even if you did have good examples of tragic events from recent history. Do you leave it out? That would seem like erasure. I think the comics and similar adaptations, which still struggle with the sliding timescale, have the ability to handle it better than a movie does, which is why the last round of X-Men movies were prequels...

Man, looking at the biggest box office bombs of all time Disney has 4 films in the top 5. They really know how to go down with a bang.

Belome was easy and Bundt was fine once I got my setup right. Booster and Punchinello are gnarly. Booster would be okay until he decided to prepare and launch his train immediately, and you need to have those perfect guards down tight for Punchinello.

It really makes me want to try and go for a Super Suit, but I've never been able to do it.

Yeah, I don't really use the team attacks, except maybe to finish off a normal encounter quickly.

I do think all these new battle features probably help make the game bearable for kids who aren't familiar with RPG difficulty, kind of like how the original did for kids back in the day (for me personally this was the first RPG I really got into, and it helped kickstart me into getting more into the genre and trying the Final Fantasy games again). It feels like since games are easier since the SNES days, a game that was considered "a beginner's RPG" back then would feel much harder these days in comparison if they didn't change anything.

I've been thinking about replaying this again as soon as I finish, only to try it without equipment and seeing if how the difficulty works out that way. I feel like it'd be really fun to have to use Team Attacks, perfectly timed blocks, and make use of the new item limit to make up for lower stats. But I dunno how well that would work.

Oh, yeah, collecting all the Thought Peek entries can make things kinda tough, especially in difficult boss battles (well, mainly Culex.) You also have to aware of form changes and tricks like that!

Another disturbing revelation from the Monster List (in Nimbus Land area): Dodo was adopted and raised by Valentina?! That's actually really sad to think about. I thought he was just some flunky.

The number of shows are neat, and they all have cool little quirks to them. Although some of them are a bit lacking. I think the Doctor Strange one is the lamest though. He just does little birthday party tricks lol

I also really don't like the Spider-Man ride. It's just a loud obnoxious "movie screen" ride that tires out my arms really quickly. It's not even fun to try and get a high score since it's Pay-to-Win...

Iirc Geoff mentioned some time before the show aired that they were not going to make political statements last time because it wasn't the place for it, then people online called that out as bs, so in the show proper there was a small, non-specific token message about it.

I was disappointed at first that GTAV didn't have more cities like in GTA San Andreas, but in retrospect I'd much rather have one large city than three smaller cities.

Replaying GTASA made me realize just how tiny it feels these days.

I didn't really like GTA V too much when I first played it, but I admit it grew on me a lot as the decade went on. And then watching DarkViperAU like supercharged that and I became really interested in all the various aspects about it. It's not like the best game, but it was sure a hell of a world to experience.

I'm an east coaster so it was legitimately an interesting fantasy setting for me to explore. Years later I visited LA and actually recognized some parts and that was really cool. But 4 was very boring to me since I am much more familiar with NYC.

Huh. I live in LA, and I found it really great to recognize so many places represented in Los Santos. Not even just major landmarks like Hollywood or the Santa Monica Pier, but even like minor streets and neighborhoods were really well done and triggered "hey, I KNOW where that is!" in my brain.

Literally forgot The Marvels was coming out now, and someone reminded me twice last week.

I never played it, but wasn't Engage supposed to be closer to how the older titles in the series were like? That's kinda disconcerting.

Also, in related news, Pikmin 4 outsold the entire rest of that series handily. Weird how that shakes out.

Aside from the cultural references, original psychopath translations had issues with space limitations. Now that they can have two lines of text, anything is possible!

I wonder if they will translate it closely to the original, or replace the specific Japanese cultural references with ones more recognizable to Western audiences.

I think they could keep some of them though, like the Evangelion and Sailor Moon references.

Yeah, the script looks basically unchanged. The only things different are likely to be major fixes.

Which honestly... I find kind of disappointing. Like, the original script was fine, and great in some cases (there are key quotes that I would hope they'd never dare change), but in hindsight it was very clearly a translation that was good for its time but a bit dated now. It's not that it was bad, or riddled with mistakes (like say, FF7), but it could have used a little more polish. I would have preferred more cleaning up of the script, especially since the original is still available to be enjoyed for those who want it. As someone who loves this game so much, I would have looked forward to experiencing a touched up script because I would be able to clearly appreciate and enjoy the differences made.

I still would prefer "Javelinovitch" though. It sounds more like a fake Russian name and keeps the joke.

The worst thing about that mechanic is when I go to use a Boost and get full Super meter at EXACTLY the same time I press the boost button. That happens surprisingly often...

But on the other hand, you could make the argument that it should intentionally work that way for balance purposes. To make it more difficult to hold onto to it for a long time, and to give it an explicit downside to counteract its usefulness (so it's an actual strategy to sacrifice your boosts to hold onto to it for the most difficult sections of the track, and if you do that for too long you're actually losing more time than you gain because you're boosting less).

Yeah, that helps work as a distinct way to differentiate the vehicles. Golden Fox wants to use the Skyway asap, while Wild Goose can benefit more from holding onto it. It's neat way to make a simple game with only four vehicles have a surprising amount of depth.
