That's why consoles are going to be walled gardens, as they call it. So, they can charge you a premium and you have no alternative to get it elsewhere (see: Nintendo in particular, though to get round that, the used market for Nintendo crap is thriving, so you always break even.)

As long as online stores remain, and cross-country trading remains (thank you EU), then PC gaming should remain relatively free of too many barriers pushing the prices up.

IMO though, no game is ever worth 80+ and barely any of them are worth 50 tbh. There's enough whales out there though to keep things thriving. I play a f2p MMO at the moment, and the MTX's on that is now 100 for a bundle, or 20+ for a single item. They're turning a profit too, just from the whales. Makes me wonder if they'd make even more money, were they to price it more reasonably tbh.

Yeah a 7/10 at best.

I did think it was nice to have the Hogwarts castle and grounds, which were pretty neat. Hogsmead and the village was great as well, but it did get a bit... cliched with the game design beyond that. The story-telling was a bit jumpy too.

The story is so shit anyway, I think only addicts play or rate WoW thesedays.

If you want a story you play FFXIV and if you want a different grind treadmill you play something else ~ Guild Wars if you want to pretend to be different, New World if you're trying to be unique and that other shit one I can't be arsed to remember otherwise.

Everyone else plays Runescape. =p

Toss up between Picard and Sisko, both flawed, but very strong captains that you could understand when they made more radical choices.

As a regular guy? I avoid the worse of it I think. Depending on the route of the story, about the worse thing that'll happen to me is going insane, especially as I wouldn't have any connection to the main cast.

Women kind of have it rough in that one though.

For consoles? Yes. They want a closed store, so they can charge 100 base game, plus 90 five minute DLCs and you won't have options elsewhere.

With PC you get around that with the store options.

They have those on PC.

Infinite health, unlimited ammo, no reload, one hit kills etc.

The rest of the X's cast all have reasons that break them from the 'norm';

Auron - rebelled against the system anyway, and his best friend married an Al Bhed.
Tidus - wasn't even from Spira.
Yuna - is related to them.
Rikku - Duh...
Kimhari - does what he always does (actually can't remember tbh, it's been so long.)
Lulu - probably one of the few that is more level headed about it, which matches her outlook tbh.

That's practically the main cast isn't it? Nearly everyone else ostracises them, and even when they don't, it's purely to use them for their own benefit and to keep the system going how it should be going (i.e. The church and the plots at Mi'ihen Road = let them have a go and die, so we wipe them out, show their methods don't work and reinforce the fact that our faith is correct.)

I like Wakka's arc, because it does show he's one of those that is switched on ("unlike a Trump follower - the Troll), and you see that at Mi'ihen, he's conflicted between staying with the religious outlook, and breaking with it when the religious outlook is utilising hypocrisy (A "trump follower" sticks with the religious outlook without any consideration, because that's what they do...)

So, yeah, don't feed the troll.

Zelda games are always super overrated anyway.

BG3 shouldn't be anywhere near top 100 IMO.

Can't take a top 100 seriously if say, Suikoden 2 isn't on there, that game is practically iconic in RPG circles.

That maybe true but I think those are also being impacted by wikis and video guides. Personally the only time I use guides on here is when I'm playing an old game.

Steam and achievement hunting guides are already superior as well. Both Steam and achievement hunting sites tend to put out spoiler-free, non-blabbering walkthroughs, with optional video content (thank fuck video guides died out quickly tbh).

Unlike GFAQS, which is quite bad for giving you their life story and every spoiler possible along the way.

Even reviews are a bit pointless on here now, as you'd get more eyes on it via Steam, or curators ~ though most people won't bother since the biggest curators collaborate with duplicate reviews and vidlinks to get a monopoly on review views.

The odd good guide on gamefaqs, isn't really enough tbh. They lost that way back in the first exodus, probably over a decade and a bit ago. The site hasn't kept up with modern times IMO.

That, and the number of users is low enough social boards now get cliques, so if you don't fit in, it's not worth it.

Reddit remains popular because of the partial anonymity, and also the torrent of replies, and the nesting feature, means you can skip a lot of the boring bits and go straight into the discussions you want to bother with, without the need to scroll through endless dull replies.

With how they've handled the 7 remakes, would you really want 6 to be remade?

I actually own a copy of the game, but because it's a PC game (which I hate) and an MMO (which I hate), I've always procrastinated actually setting it up and playing.

The main reason why I still wanted to play it was because I loved the KotOR games, and people have said it's possible to solo most of the actual story content in SW:TOR (just like you can solo the story content in Elder Scrolls Online). Which is all I mostly care about.

Other factors that have sort of led me to procrastinate it is the fact that you can't romance any of the female companions with female main characters (which is how I like to play), and the fact that I'm not sure how many character slots you can have saved without a paid subscription.

If you are indeed a fan of KOTOR, I don't think you're missing out on much. They really shat the bed in dealing with the core characters of those games for the MMO.

Also, the solo gameplay is choppy, because it went through that MMO phase of forcing everyone to play together for an arc or three. That means when you finish the initial solo-story, you have a ton of content that you can't do and have to skip, before you hit that phase where they wised up and realised it would kill off their newcomer player base, so everything becomes solo again.

Honestly, it's a dumpster fire of a game. And that stories aren't that great either. (inb4 'agent is teh best political/spy drama thriller ever written since bread was sliced!' it isn't, it's mediocre at best.)

A game about his journey with Auron and Braska. There was a big clammering for it 20+ years ago. Would probably be DLC material today.

I don't get the appeal. We already know exactly what happens in the story and visit the exact same places we visted in FFX.

It'd also have a defacto bummer ending.

It wouldn't work for a number of reasons;

Logic-wise; It's a re-tread of the story, and everyone would pick it apart for not being 'different' or for showing events referenced in X in a different way to how they preciously imagined it.

Square-wise: They'd give it the FF7 remake treatment, add in a bunch of characters no one cared for, make it super edgy and stupid, and promote their hack writer for shitting it out to lukewarm reviews.

KFC was steadily declining in the UK (well, where I am anyway), but they dosedived completely when they brought in those new shitty chips. The 'skin on' chips or whatever, they were fucking rank.

Anyway it's a lottery whether you'll get a decent burger or not if you go there now.

Some of the most ridiculous Americanisms I see these days;

• Could care less (though it is stopping now.)
• Off of (incorrect 100% of the time, and used in place of 'from' or 'on' or simply incorrectly adding 'of' where it is unnecessary. I.e. "I took the salt off the table" = correct. "I took the salt off of the table" = moron. Absolutely taking off at the moment, so obviously a result of a lack of education funding.
• Couple things / couple whatever etc. The correct form is 'couple of x' never 'couple x'
• For speech; Data. Really it isn't that difficult, it's day-tah, not 'dah-tah'. This is a particularly annoying one for me as in video games with voice acting you'll often get two different NPCs saying the word differently, and no one bothers to correct it.

Also pesticides usage would remain stupidly high as it is. Some dumb nations (like mine) have brought back bee-killing pesticides for their crop use, which is genius level farming ofc.

It's sad when you think about all the big developers you used to love, and realize every single one of them is basically a walking corpse. Or a flesh-eating alien wearing the severed face of your former loved ones.

This is generally why I just try and enjoy the stuff from the new dev teams now, whilst their star is rising. Nearly every developer turns to shit it seems.

Currently on my rising star list is Owlcat. I like their CRPG's, I think they're probably some of the best out there atm, although they have their flaws. Depending on how successful their Warhammer 40k crpg goes though, I'd expect them to start screwing about at some point.
