You really dont need the motion controls. A lot of times those abilities are also mapped to a button without being labeled as such. As far as I know every moon that was believed to require motion controls has been solved without them. Or you could try increasing the sensitivity really high so that smaller movements can work.

Have Sonic fans been living in some weird parallel dimension where publications post separate reviews for every version of a game? That hasnt been the standard for years and years now. The cases where a game is so significantly different that it would actually affect the score are not common enough to merit the extra work it takes. Just look for sites that reviewed the version youre interested in.

I don't think anybody's saying that

But it's rare that a review is based on the worst version of a game on the most limited console. Nobody expects different reviews, and if the only systems are PS4 and Xbox One, then yeah, it's not worth mentioning. But the Switch version is known to be inferior to the other two. Like, Call of Duty and Madden reviews weren't based on the 360/PS3 versions over the PS4/Xbone versions. So it seems odd to base the review on the Switch version when the Switch version has limitations that the PS4/Xbone don't, and that was known ahead of time.

Atleast, that was what I was getting at. Doesn't just apply to this game.

The review doesnt mention graphics, frame rate, or performance issues at all, so Im guessing those shortcomings in this version didnt negatively affect the experience and thusly the game would get the same score on all platforms.

Why the hate for Disney songs though smh

Because you want to dance to something fun, not Be Our Guest or Just Can't Wait To Be King. They literally played this shit music and then everyone was off the dance floor and the DJ went "Alright everyone, let's get some people to the dance floor... WHERE'S MY POLKA PEOPLE AT?" Three couples went up to dance. They played two polka songs anyway. And then they played some Scottish song after in another attempt to revive it.

I said during the Shrek block of music that if they play Smash Mouth I was jumping off the balcony. I was mercifully spared.

Wait, what the fuck Shrek music even IS there besides Smash Mouth??? That cover of Hallelujah? Please tell me they played that

The reviews of Sonic games made me come to a firm conclusion of how awful video game reviewers are. Sonic 2006 actually got a lot of great reviews despite being a game that looked like it didn't even come out of beta.

6YzwwM2

hmm

Actually a lot of the scores were revised after a while because they wised up that no one was going to be bothered if they said the game was shit. I forget which came first, the Xbox or Playstation version, but I recall the second release getting way lower scores even from the same sites, which kind of confirmed the inconsistency of it all.

Metacritic has a policy of only counting the first published score, even if there was a serious error in the review that resulted in a different score later on, so a change like that wouldnt really be reflected on MC. The game got poor scores out of the gate.

I now own a Steam Controller and the first thing I tried to play with it was Umihara Kawase. I will never try to play Umihara Kawase with a Steam Controller ever again.

But really after like an hour with the thing it seems decent, and if it were somehow able to have an actual d-pad on the left side it would actually be really good. That touchpad cant even come close to a d-pad and for many games the analog stick is not a suitable replacement. There are definitely some games Ill be using it for though!

I just wish Hillary would have had the foresight not to run. Literally President Biden right now. =(

Some games are more about exploration or puzzle solving or story or whatever and don't really need lives either. But a lot of action games could really stand to ask more of their players sometimes - I love games with lives and even old-school continue systems where you have to start the entire game over. It'd be nice to have more of them.

A good middleground is what arcades eventually came up with--allow limitless continues, but reward players in some way for achieving the one-credit clear. Sometimes an extra level, sometimes just a special ending, and of course any worthwhile game resets your score whenever you continue (or increments your ones counter as a mark of shame) so it's the only way to get to the top of those leaderboards.

What on Earth is wrong with Hollywood. Holy hell.

It's so bad. I've always hated hearing about this kind of stuff, but my girlfriend is a filmmaker who's just started working union gigs so I'm hearing about a lot of this first-hand now too. It's really fucking tough because I want to be happy for her working in the industry that she's worked so long to get in... but I also know it's virtually guaranteed that she's going to be sexually harassed by her bosses and that HR is completely useless and often in on the harassment as well. There's already been a few minor things I'm not OK with, so I'm hoping all this attention is going to cause people to straighten up a bit.

Also, what Inviso said. I'm curious to see if/when more stories come out from other areas with huge gender disparities... like game development...

Someone came out with a story from Naughty Dog recently, but ND/Sony instantly shrugged it off with a pretty shitty statement. Then a day or so later a reporter told her own story of being harassed at ND but nothing else has come of either situation. Neither victim named names in their situations though so I don't think much else will happen there.

FFV Advance, I think there's a sound restore patch for that too but unlike VI, V's GBA version arguably sounds better sometimes

Rhythm Tengoku for GBA, there is a translation patch but the game is also perfectly playable without it. Though if the tablet has display or input lag this might not be that enjoyable. And of course Rhythm Heaven for DS

Try out the Dept. Heaven RPGs. Riviera: The Promised Land and Yggdra Union are on both GBA and PSP. PSP versions have a little bit more content as well as voiceover, but the graphics are arguably a little bit worse since they're just the upscaled, filtered GBA sprites. Knights in the Nightmare has both a DS and PSP version; I'd say try the DS version but if the controls are too weird/difficult then switch to the PSP version. And the last one is Gungnir, for PSP. Each of these are very different games with totally different rules than you normally expect from RPGs

If you want another weird GBA action-RPG try CIMA: The Enemy

You absolutely serve alcohol to dogs in that game.

If you do play it, you should start with the two Prologue chapters, which I think can be accessed from the title screen. They were originally demos from before full release, and the story actually references them even though they weren't playable in the full game originally.

Problem is, I don't know if I'm "healthy enough." While I've lost a lot of weight, I don't know if it's been enough for something like that. It's not something I can just magically improve. I will wait and see on that. If my employer offers a free biometric screen this year, that will be a good indication of where I am at. No word on that though... which is bizarre. Last year I knew about it in September >_>

Trust me, unless you have HIV or other serious diseases, you're probably healthy enough. If you've ever donated whole blood, the process is almost totally the same. Just drink lots of water and make sure you've eaten a meal in the hour before you donate.

And for the more gameplay-oriented kind there is VA-11 HALL-A. Its not horror though.

And its not strictly a visual novel but theres always Snatcher if youve never given it a shot. And if you have, you could take a look at 2049: Read-Only Memories which has similarities.
