What do you mean? People who generate a ton of debt and let interest accrue, but still actually pay back, are the most profitable customers. That's what the system tries to aim for, though it errs on the side of responsibility since the customer paying before interest builds is better than just not paying ever.

I forgot who mentioned it but a fellow PotD said those who regularly pay off their balance are more desirable than those who don't and incur interest. Like you said, banks make more money off those who incur interest but at least they know they'll get their money back from those who actually pay off the balance. Even among those who pay off their balance each month, banks still make money from the various transaction fees charged to the vendors. I think the terms are revolver for those who incur interest and nonrevolver for those who always pay off the balance each month.

Come to think of it, there's not many of fantasy RPG games that combines steampunk and fantasy like this, is there? There's the Shadowrun series but I think that goes a little to far ahead. I always kinda described this game as Lord of the Rings during the Industrial Revolution.

My favorite aspect about the game is how most quests can be completed in multiple ways. If I need certain information from said character I can persuade him/her to give it up, do them a favor by doing a quest, kill said NPC and loot a note off his/her body, or pickpocket said note off the NPC.

Like with some RPGs, you can also play as a dumb character which makes the game so much more hilarious. In my friends case he played as an ugly half-Ogre battlemage with a background of "beaten with the ugly" stick. All the NPCs were horrified by my friend's character and he would simply beat down anyone who wouldn't cooperate.

Yup. Curry House is my go-to restaurant for Japanese curry and currently their own brand of curry from House Foods is my go-to curry style/flavour. I almost always get chicken curry despite me constantly telling myself to try something new. Next to Japanese curry I like Thai curry, namely the yellow curry. Following that would be Indian curry, namely chicken tikka masala.

Per the suggestion of a Boy Scout adult leader's wife, I'm taken to mixing Vermont Curry and Kokumaro flavour in a 50/50 ratio. Turns out pretty good. I just need to find a way to use less water without burning the curry and without having to keep stirring the pot.

I'd say yes and hopefully both sides have enough mutual respect for one another to not try and take said friendship any further. Imagine having a good friend that you have no attraction or romantic feelings toward and said friend comes out and expresses his/her feelings toward you. Would you want to be put in a position where you have to either turn down said friend or worse, pretend to have interest so you won't hurt his/her feelings?

I kinda find it disrespectful to put someone in that position especially if it was already established he/she has no feelings toward you. Of course being friendzoned stinks but it just goes you show you care more for your own feelings than the wishes of your friend. At some point one must simply accept the reality of the situation and not keep pressuring said friend.

Granted there is that chance both friends do have some feelings for one another and are clueless to it but I assume this to be a rarity. At the end of the day, if you care for said friend and respect his/her wishes to just stay as friends, don't try and start anyway. Seems cowardly but it goes you show you care more how for he/she feels than what you want.

Another adult leader told us once of an Eagle character board that he sat on where the Scout declared he was an Atheist. The board actually was not going to give him his Eagle rank because of that until the Scout managed to explain how he follows the law of "A Scout is Reverent". I have read of Atheist Eagle Scouts though so some boards may have let that slide.

Oh, plus apparently the whole thing isn't going co-ed. They're still doing single-gender at the "den" level, which I think is the smallest unit.

Packs could still be co-ed though per this article.

https://goo.gl/DTnJCM

Packs consist of multiple Dens. Lion Den, Tiger Den, Wolf Den, Bear Den, and Webelos Den. So you could have Pack 123 which is further broken down into multiple Dens which are age-based. This would make sense given the Girl Scouts are also broken down by age. You got the Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors.

It is only at the Boy Scouts level where I am not sure how it will play out since troops vary. Some setup their patrols by age while some are mixed. We'll have just to wait till 2019 to see how it plays out.

Personally, my only real concern is whether or not girls will be subjected to the same requirements as boys to earn the Eagle rank. The article mentions a program will be created to allow girls to earn the rank of Eagle. If they're not using the same current existing program I can only wonder if it'll be different in some way.

what do boys in boyscouts do that girls in girlscout don't do

Some of that comes down to the individual leaders. Even among the Boy Scouts, different troops focuses on different activities. Same goes for the Girl Scouts. Different troops focuses on different activities. Some more or less outdoorsy than others.

Personally I think the issues lies with the highest ranks/awards. Eagle rank among the Boy Scouts is more recognized than the Gold Award among the Girl Scouts or Silver Award among the Venture Crew (co-ed program for the BSA). I can see this being an incentive to some girls in wanting to join the Boy Scouts program even if the Venture Crew program is available.

magemaximus posted...
i reckon it has to do with sleeping together. might cause problems or something. like boys doing stuff. i dunno.

I am sure that is always going to be an issue but that's when it is up to us adult leaders to ensure there's no questionable action going on. Co-ed exist in Scouting in other countries and even the Venture Crew program is co-ed so it is possible. Of course it would mean additional or new training for us current Boy Scouts adult leaders.

Youth Protection (which is more like adult protection) train us adults to avoid situations where our actions could be questioned. One aspect of Youth Protection is adults cannot share tents with youths. I can only assume the same might kinda apply for boys and girls where they must be in separate tents.

EDIT: Can't find the part where you declare your religion but there is the part about Excerpt from the Declaration of Religious Principle.

The Boy Scouts of America maintains that no member can grow into the best kind of citizen without recognizing
an obligation to God and, therefore, recognizes the religious element in the training of the member, but it is
absolutely nonsectarian in its attitude toward that religious training. Its policy is that the home and organization
or group with which the member is connected shall give definite attention to religious life. Only persons willing
to subscribe to these precepts of the Declaration of Religious Principle and to the Bylaws and codes of the Boy

Boy Scouts is a religious organization anyways, it should probably just be gotten rid of entirely.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that but I personally do wish we allowed atheist Scouts into the program. As it stands now, when you apply to be a Scout you need to declare a religion. The ideas of "Duty to God" and "A Scout is Reverent" are literally in our Scout Oath and Law.

The irony I see in that is Scouts, as far as I know, are taught that it means being dutiful to one's beliefs and being respectful of the beliefs, or lack of, of others. Kinda hypocritical in my opinion if Scouts are being taught to be respectful of other's beliefs when Scouting as a whole won't acknowledge atheism. Hell, I'm Buddhist and I personally wouldn't consider it a religion but it is according to the BSA.

Kyuubi4269 posted...
Idk why scouts isn't just an organisation for people to learn scouting skills, there's no need to bring in gender or relgion.

I wish it was but with the different ideology between the BSA and GSA, there might never be a merge. Scouting across the globe is co-ed and yet the Scouting of America feel the two sexes should be kept separate. If we're preparing these youth to be better adults, learning to work with the opposite sex maybe outta be included in the program. The BSA does have the co-ed program via the Venture Crew but their awards and ranks are different from the Boy Scouts.

Unfortunately I am not sure if this is something the GSA can ever change in their program to allow for better recognition for their Scouts.

Looks like the BSA will allow existing Packs to decide on accepting girls or not. As for the Eagle rank program for girls, it better be the same there'll be more headaches down the road.

https://goo.gl/DTnJCM

On another note,

In a scathing letter published by BuzzFeed News at the time, Girl Scouts National Board President Kathy Hopinkah Hannan called the Boy Scouts' plan unsettling and said it would only serve to undercut the Girl Scouts.

All I can say to this is, make your program more interesting. If girls are choosing the BSA over the GSA it's either because the GSA is boring to them or they want the recognition that comes with being an Eagle Scout.

Funny you say that. I recall a fellow Scout inviting a friend to our meeting once just to check it out. It was also a rank requirement to bring a friend to a meeting. One of the first thing he asked was "Where are the Girl Scouts?"...

Jokes aside, the Venture Crew is co-ed so it's possible. Hell, Scouting in most parts of the world are already co-ed. Even in England, where Scouting originated from, it is co-ed.

I saw the girl who caused this reform. I think she wanted this because boy scouts are better. I mean instead of reforming her group to meet the same standards she changed someone elses group. Kinda bs.

I think the concern was about getting Eagle rank. Venture Crew doesn't offer anything like that so joining Boy Scouts was the only option which will be soon enough. It's kinda odd that Venture Crew, being under the BSA, wouldn't offer the Eagle rank as something obtainable by their Scouts.

Personally I'm kinda indifferent toward this even if it'll means more training and regulations for us adult leaders.

Incoming wall of text because I already had this discussion with my friends....

The Boy Scouts of America covers the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venture Crews. The Venture Crew itself is already co-ed but have a different set of ranks and awards compared to the Boy Scouts. The minimum age to join the Venture Crew is also higher at 14 years old or 13 years old and have completed the eighth grade. For some youth, if you wait that long to get them interested, they might not maintain that interest.

The way I see it, some girls might not be satisfied with what the Girl Scouts of America has to offer. It really comes down to the individual troops and leaders as to what they do but I can see why some are not happy with it. I'd say the burden is on the GSA to maintain the interest of these female youths instead of being concern about losing members to the BSA.

Another thing is awards and recognition. The GSA highest rank/award is the Gold Award which may not be as recognized as the Eagle rank among the BSA. I think the Venture Crew highest award is the Silver Award which may not be as recognized as Eagle rank as well. Most people outside of Scouting might recognize the Eagle rank/award but I have a feeling not many outside of Scouting are aware of what the Gold and Silver Awards are. Hell, colleges acknowledge the Eagle rank and I think it helps having it on your application.

To be frank, with the Mormon Church taking out their older Scouts from the BSA, that is a chunk of money the BSA is losing. I was told Mormon Scouts account for about 17% of BSA Scouts. I can see why they want to open up to girls. I can also see why the GSA is not happy as it means them losing some potential members.

I actually wished the BSA and GSA merged long ago but their ideology is/are simply too different. It's weird because Scouting in other parts of the world is co-ed. Still, at the end of the day our goals as adult leaders are to provide a positive experience for these youths and prepare them to be better adults in their future. Fighting over memberships shouldn't be something to argue about but unfortunately it is. I have no idea what the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Girls Scouts at the temple that host us is going to do about this. The BSA may allow the individual troops to decide whether or not to accept girls.

The PvP/Battle Royale is free and is available now. The campaign/co-op is supposedly free-to-play sometime next year but you can buy the bundles now which includes some in-game money, items, classes/characters, etc.

As mentioned the campaign/co-op involves loot boxes that contain recipes for better items, gear, ingredients, etc. but like any loot boxes, it's all random. You could either buy loot boxes to speed up how fast you can upgrade your character or play the game a lot and hope you get lucky.

I was interested in getting the game until I read of the micro-transaction. I'm not against micro-transactions but I'd rather wait for the game to go free-to-play instead of buying the bundles now and still having to farm loot boxes.

But looking back I really miss going camping with my friends in my troop and working on projects together.

Likewise. Unfortunately among my fellow Scouts, I was the only one who returned to our troop. The others are living out their lives wherever they are. Our former Scoutmaster was briefly my Senior Patrol Leader when I joined Scouting but we can still relate to all the stuff that happened back then.

I did obtain it 1 month before my 18th birthday.

Hah. I think half the Eagles in my troop did something similar. Scrambling to get their merit badges and Eagle Project approved and done in the last six months before their 18th birthday. I am pretty sure one Scout held his Scoutmaster conference the night before his 18th birthday.

I myself never made Eagle rank and only got as far as Star rank. I have sat on over a dozen Eagle Character Boards and sometimes ask the question of whether the Scout found the journey or the rank or rank more important. About all of them always respond back that the journey is more important. Whether they were being truthful or just telling me what they think I want to hear, I'll never know.

Personally for me, joining Boy Scouts and the experiences I had made the time still worthwhile even if I didn't obtain the rank of Eagle. I wouldn't have rejoined my troop as an adult leader otherwise if I didn't believe the program. Of course this is kinda easy for me to say having not made Eagle and not having the pressure from my parents to make the rank of Eagle. It is still one of my biggest regrets in life though.

I know there are some current or former Boy Scouts on PotD and some have obtained the rank of Eagle. Did you consider the journey or the rank more important?

Comments are appreciated,

Thank you

Oh that wasn't about the meat. It was about the vegan part.

Oh okay, fair enough. I can see myself switching to a vegetarian diet and the associated health benefits if my doctor(s) recommends it but it'll be a hard sell if they suggest a vegan diet. I'll have to become heavily lactose intolerant or something to stop consuming milk, cheese, ice cream, etc.

In America, it's okay to have an abortion but wrong to eat meat.

You act as if supporters of both are one and the same. It should be obvious but a country this big is bound to have multiple opinions from different point-of-views.

I'd go to a different doctor in that case.

For a second opinion or just because you disagree with his/her assessment? Some recommendations might sound extreme but I'd imagine in those cases is when you seek a second or even third opinion.

Say, by your doctor, an example being asked to quit red meat.

I kinda have already. I'll still eat beef when BBQing or at a nice steak restaurant but outside of this I try to reduce my meat intake to just chicken or pork. I have also started choosing beans and tofu if I want to spend less as well.

At almost 34 years old my health isn't exactly perfect and I could stand to lose 20-30 lbs. I don't want to end up like my mom, aunts, uncles, and a few cousins who have to rely on cholesterol or diabetes pills.

After reading some articles, this fire feels worse than usual. I take back what I said about us being use to it.

Despite Amazon being my primary shopping vendor, there are times I'd prefer going to an actual store, seeing what I want to buy, and buying it instead of waiting for said product to arrive later that day, next day, or two days later.

There is almost always a fire going on somewhere. Not to say we're use to it but rather it isn't exactly big news.

Plus it'd be weird to be in a room with a bunch of my exes and their SOs

Being single my entire life, I wouldn't know. But even after ten+ years? Given most folks are quite emotionally and mentally different from their younger selves, would folks still hold a grudge that long when more than likely it was their younger and dumber selves that made those mistakes?
