Funny how free speech is being diminished at the same time Canada is letting in all those migrants. They're protecting the migrants and giving the natives the middle finger.

I've been arrested here for very little, such as saying the wrong thing before. Still, I like Canada cause the people here are laid back, although they scare easily.

In the spirit of @wwinterj25, I will list the pros and cons of my life.

Pros:
- I just got permission to stop taking medication that was ruining my life
- I am on disability and don't have to work if I don't want to
- I am free to do whatever I want
- I have quit alcohol and cigarettes recently

Cons:
- I am constantly struggling with temptation
- My extended family thinks I'm a pervert and I feel I've failed them
- My close family are struggling and I don't know what I can do
- I think I might already have cancer from the cigarettes

I agree, there definitely is a war on men. It's the last true conservatives against everyone else, i.e. women, gays, cucks, etc.

In terms of "smarter," it's harder to determine because you have fewer objective (or at least quasi-objective) metrics as you get older. I graduated near the top of my class in both high school and college, which demonstrated I was more intelligent than most of my peers (especially considering I didn't really study). However, as soon as you get into the real world, you don't have the same kinds of metrics so impartial evaluation is naturally more difficult. I would *assume* that I'm smarter than I was when I was younger (rather than just wiser) but, other than being better at Jeopardy, I have no way of knowing for certain.

I can tell you're book-smart based on what you just typed. However, simplicity is the real winner when it comes to intelligence. To be able to communicate clearly to everyone instead of just the people who payed attention in your classes.

The problem with simplicity is that it can be incredibly imprecise in conveying meaning. It's a matter of nuance, really.

For instance, if you complained about a food's taste you might say, "This food tastes bad." It's very simple, very clear -- a child readily understands bad. However, it doesn't tell you much, does it? Now if you said, "This food is too bitter," you're being more clear in your complaint and it's still widely understood. However, you could take it a step further and use a more precise word to describe the taste which some people wouldn't necessarily understand but, if they did understand it, it would convey your meaning far more clearly than the simpler variants. Granted, a lot of that comes down to audience. Food critics, chefs, etc, would have a greater understanding of words pertaining to taste and the distinct differences in meaning whereas most of us merely see them as synonyms and just associate the simpler meaning.

Very true, audience. To use the proper terminology depending on what you're trying to achieve. Can't possible argue with that.

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
2 Corinthians 9:15 KJV

This one seems pretty obvious. I don't know what Corinthians as a whole is about, but I know it is in the New Testament so I assume it is Jesus related. The one thing that confuses me is the choice of the word unspeakable.

My best guesses are that the gift in reference could be life itself, all of creation, God's love, or the fact that he had his son die for the sins of others. Maybe all of those things. I still don't understand how the word unspeakable would apply to any of those though.

You have chosen an interesting place to start reading! Here, Corinthians is saying a parable about sowing seeds, which ends with your quote. They're talking about the saints at the time, and the seed is the good news of Christ.

In my translation, the word they used is indescribable. The saints came to people under the spell of death with grace and joy, something they have never seen before. So the people began to pray for the saints and help them, and that is the unspeakable gift. They won the hearts of the people basically, and the point of saints is to do the work on earth that God will not do yet, that is, to speak to others physically rather than spiritually.

Your joking right? Everybody lies. If someone says they dont lie, then they are lying.

It seems like you just find their drama to be tiring. Which is fine, if you find the drama between friends to be something you dont like then feel free to distance yourself from it ether temporarily or outright cut off.

I myself give my friends the benefit of the doubt but always have some caution in blindly believing whatever they say. I dont mind if they lie (as long as its nothing serious) as i dont expect that everyone is always 100% honest. Im not.

Obviously I'm not talking about white lies or exaggerations. I'm talking about constant lies where the person can no longer be trusted about anything.

God/Jesus helped the poor and weak.

Speaking from a Catholic perspective, parking anything that cost a substantial amount of money inside the church would be extremely blasphemous and sacrilege. Roman Catholics wouldn't even DARE have any flat screen TV's in their Churches as well.

Yes, it might have been a domestic issue but seriously, don't be a show off at church or God is going to punish you.

I kinda agree with you, and as a Catholic I must say being a show-off at church is a no-no. Church is a meeting for fellow believers, not a place to be an attention-seeking whore.

I downloaded the Discord app on my laptop, but I'm not really happy with their presentation. Instead of telling me bluntly how to set up my mic so it freaking works, they're making a bunch of forced jokes. I can't seem to get it to work, and I tried everything including updating my browser. Youtube videos aren't helping, and neither is google. I went to my system preferences and I know that my internal mic is working.

Is there anyone who can tell me how to get it to work? Do I need a proper headset, or can I use the internal speakers on my laptop or the earbuds that have a mic in them? Please help.
