Have there always been series ending on Tuesdays and I didn't notice, or is this a result of the new days off in MLB? I thought they were usually Thursday or Sunday with the occasional Wednesday (although this is still largely the case)

My expectation is they will come and go like Netflix but if you download them you get to keep them as long as you have an online subscription. That's how PS+ works. My fear is that it'll be add-ons like $20 for base with NES, add $20 more for SNES, etc

With PS+, do you lose the games if you cancel and resubscribe later on?

The subscription idea seems nice if you're a classic Nintendo neophyte, but how many people are at this point? I guess the Switch does have a bit broader audience, but still, there are so many other options for these games already. For me the biggest appeal of VC was filling out my library with the niche and rare/expensive titles, so I'd rather buy them individually. I don't need an eight hundredth way to play Super Mario Bros. and Balloon Fight.

I mean, 20 games for $20 a year doesn't sound that bad, but I don't want most of those games. Will it be more later on? We can hope. But I wonder if it will be a continuously building library, or if things will come and go like Netflix. I don't want to end up losing a game I enjoy because they took it off their rotation... or because I have no other reason to pay for online anymore. Just let me buy the damn games.

Franklin Morales and Manny Corpas amazingly both had second stints with the Rockies despite how much their first ones flamed out. They need to bring back Ubaldo to fix this! Is Jhoulys Chacin available? Wait, he's actually still in the league, apparently... and less bad than I thought he would be.

The Rockies haven't brought back some dumb washed-up pitcher in a while. That used to be their thing in the late 00's/early 10's. It wasn't just their own guys either... remember Livan Hernandez? Jamie Moyer? Roy Oswalt? I always hated those moves but they're also hilarious.

I was thinking Trevor Hoffman, but that was before I reread the question. I do think he gave up back-to-back walkoff losses, including the play-in game, but that has probably happened several times since.

Uhh, either it must have been a Rockie or against the Rockies. The only walkoff homer I can think of was Todd Helton against the Dodgers, but I don't remember if there was another one next to it. Who was their closer back then, Broxton? That's my guess.

As in how long the hardware would be viable without failing, not market lifetime. I'm sure they weren't designed intentionally to fail after a certain amount of time, of course, but I can imagine that Atari and Nintendo in the 80s were like "There's no way anybody is still going to be using this in 30 years" and maybe didn't have the strictest of standards.

I remember the rare battery backed NES games would say in the instructions that the saves will get erased after five years, but I don't think they really knew because I've had games keep save files through like 15 years of not being turned on, and I've still never had to change a battery in one of my NES games.

Well I'm looking for careers in tech like software development, and I sort of have experience in that, but it's not very good. So I have applied to adjacent ones, like tech support jobs, which generally seems to be one of the lowest-skill tech jobs there is, but I haven't had any more luck there.

I should have applied to some crappy jobs in the meantime but with how long I've been unemployed at this point I don't know if they'll help me much anymore. Also, truth be told, I don't really even know how to apply to stuff like low-level retail. I know everyone has online apps right now, but those seem like they're designed just to reject people.

Also a lot of my friends are from school, and I went to a very career-oriented university, so I feel like they may be more judgmental on that than average people. With my friends from last job, I kind of get the feeling they have some hints of resentment towards me for quitting.

No career plans, I'm just continuously applying to jobs in my "field" without much luck. I rarely get any bites and it's rarer still to get past an initial phone interview.

I lost my social life because I've been spending like the last five years failing to get a better job, and most of my friends know this. I find it pretty embarrassing, but maybe I'm just too self-conscious and they don't care as much as I think. But it's painful to me to try and keep up with my friends over the years and either pretend that I was/am content in my shitty job/unemployment, or to keep having no progress in my life to report.

Mostly career/job problems. And lack of a social life, but a lot of that has stemmed from my career problems. Basically the last six years I've been in a combination of a bad job that totally killed my once-promising career prospects, and unemployed since I eventually couldn't stand it there anymore

I don't know, what do you mean by trying "something new"? That could be almost anything, depending on your definition... and just doing little things doesn't really help me with the problems in my life.

I sort of know what you mean though, other than the fact I feel like almost all my days are wastes. Sometimes particular days will certainly stand out. I try to just get small things done, bit-by-bit, but I'm too afraid to commit to a large project (or leave the house for a long period), out of fear of lost productivity, but I think in the long run it's just making my productivity worse.

I've said it before, but our entire offense outside of Blackmon and Arenado is atrocious. I mean, LeMahieu is good, but he doesn't have the sexy numbers. Story can at least hit some dingers and play defense, but he still sucks. Maybe David Dahl will be good and stay healthy this time.

People like to complain about the possibility of having to rebuy games, or not being able to resell them, but I think that's evened out by how cheap digital games are. You never used to be able to find quality new games priced in the $5-$20 range. And the digital games that aren't that cheap tend to still have physical copies available...

I know everybody says this, but I really feel it lately. The concept of having different gaming consoles has always been somewhat of a source of irritation, but I've really gotten tired of hooking and unhooking different things. Even though I don't use handheld mode much, the Switch is still nice because it doesn't take up much space in docked mode either.
