it has the ability to let you customize the camera and lock on settings. like, you can choose to lock on only to enemies on screen, or also enemies off screen. you can separately adjust whether you want the lock on to prioritize nearby enemies or enemies in the center of the screen.

I remember the junk items being very clearly marked. Quest items are also clearly marked.

The trick is there's another menu of items that are "gifts" that you can give to your party members for affinity. Didn't find that until 60 hours in.

3ds version is a neat technical achievement but not too hot for controlling

Dragon Quest 8 on PS2 had a super obscure feature where pressing the left control stick registered as an X input (confirm).

For a game where you're doing a lot of running around talking to people and opening doors/chests outside of battle, I actually used this a lot. You could play the game with your left hand while doing something else with your right (browsing the internet because DQ8 while great, is very slow). I haven't seen any other game do this.

that's a good point too.

if you're going to the country (korea or wherever) to experience the culture and learn the native language, be careful not to get totally sucked into the ex-pat community.

the ex-pats i met spoke virtually no korean despite living there longer than me, and acted basically as if they were on a super long spring break vacation.

it's easy to fall into the community because you just don't know anything about the brand new country you are in, but if you aren't careful you might as well be living in america.

if you have long term life goals, they will essentially be put on hold. and you run the risk of "eh I'll do this another year while i figure it out" for a decent chunk of your young professional life.

if it sounds like I'm exaggerating, I'm not. I've hung out with the community in the past, and they almost ALL said the same thing. "i came here after college because i didn't know what to do, and i just kinda stayed for 5-10 years!"

im sure you can continue to live like that if you don't mind it, but there's very much a hard ceiling on salary and growth. and if you come back to the states to try to enter an actual career, it will be tough.

i think you're in a slightly different position since you write, but it's still a consideration that i think everyone who decides to teach English abroad should be aware of.

i think you can actually save decent money

the problem is more that it's such a comfortable and easy lifestyle that people get trapped into staying longer than anticipated and then end up not leaving at all

The Architect of XB2 is Zanza of XB1.

Basically, Professor Klaus initiated the conduit program that wiped out civilization while creating a new universe, but half his body remained in the ruined world which Klaus went on to mold as Alrest/XB2, becoming known as the Architect. The half that the conduit took to the new world of Bionis/Mechonis was Zanza, who became a god with his colleague Professor Galea, Meyneth.

When the Architect says his time is running out, it's because Shulk is about to kill Zanza, when your XB2 party leaves there's even a scene that zooms into the Architect's ruined half / blackhole and you can hear a quote from Shulk in the final battle of XB1.

Unconfirmed Theory: The world beneath the cloud sea at the end of XB2 may actually be the world Shulk created at the end of XB1.
